What a lovely couple, that will help with information tips and places to visit! We stayed in the back of the hotel in the exequtive suite which is spacious and very comfortable for a good nights sleep! Breakfast was self service to cereals yoghurts and juices, with a selection of cooked breakfasts, even herbal teas offered! Didn't have evening meals as pre arranged meetings with friends but other guests said it was an excellent meal!
As part of our 25th wedding anniversary we stayed here for three nights and four days. We were made to feel welcome from the outset and nothing was too much trouble for Daljeet and her staff. We ate in the restaurant on two occasions and found the food delicious, particularly the home made Indian curries. The room was spacious and clean with everything you needed. Although the bed was too comfortable as one morning we didn't want to get up and consequently missed breakfast! We were treated like family and enjoyed chatting with guests and staff as if we had known them al our lives, now that atmosphere takes some achieving.
We were greeted by a friendly receptionist which set the tone for our stay. All staff were polite and very friendly and helpful. The bedroom was clean and comfortable if a bit tired. There's a choice of British and Indian food in the restaurant which is reasonably priced.
This was the first time we had stayed at this hotel. Check in was easy and reception staff were very pleasant and helpful. Room was very spacious and had all the facilities you would require including a fridge which was good. The decor is a little dated but very clean and tidy. We ate in the hotel on the first night when there was a big private party booked into a separate room. Quality was good but I do do believe would have been better if not for the party. Breakfast was very good. I must say all the staff were very good and attentive and actually seemed to really care that your stay was enjoyable. Will definitely return.
The staff are very friendly. The manager was a little bit like an Indian/Asian Basil Fawlty, but in a good way. I am sometimes dubious about in-house restaurants, but the Quorn Lodge restaurant is very good. The Indian food is more subtle than the usual take-away spice-tastic mouth burner, so it is well suited to the occidental palate. The English menu is also good. And it is good value for money. The down side, so slight as to not spoil the stay, was that we had to run around under the shower to get wet. The water pressure wasn't as good as it should be! This was my second visit. I shall probably stay here, if I find myself in Melton Mowbray again.
On arrival we were met by the most friendly receptionist . She was professional and warm making us feel welcome. The room was clean with a good size comfortable bed. The décor was a little tired and good do with a makeover. Breakfast which was included in the price was well cooked and a good selection.
We spent four pleasant nights here. The room was spacious--the bathroom was as big as our last two bathrooms combined! There was a portable radiator which we used after the room radiator ceased working. (As it wasn't cold, we didn't bother mentioning this to them.) The restaurant food was very good, both from the Indian and British menu. The veggies were welcomed and the sauces tasty. Sunday Roast was a great value. But there were problems. My husband's Surface notebook had no problem hooking up with the Internet but my Apple iPad only succeeded half the time. At the end of each meal we wanted to add it to our bill, which was no problem. However, we never saw the bill after the meal. No surprise, then, that there were discrepancies when we checked out, mostly over the beverages from the bar. While this didn't ruin our stay, it left a bitter taste in our mouth. The simple remedy is to have a boarder sign a ticket after each meal. It was an unfortunate end to our stay, one which could have been avoided easily.
I was very happy with my room. A comfy bed and very clean. I ate in the restaurant which was great value and delicious. The Indian menu is great.A very comprehensive breakfast menu with a mix and match/have what you'd like approach. Staff were friendly and chatty and couldn't do enough. I would definitely use this hotel again.
An interesting building, probably once a private house. The welcome was warm and friendly, the décor a little tired and out-moded. A spacious, quiet room, with comfortable beds. Breakfast included, and good - though no fresh fruit. I think they were disappointed that we only dined once during our stay; certainly not because we were dissatisfied - both the Indian and the British offerings were well cooked and nicely presented.
The one thing that cannot be faulted here is the friendliness of the staff. One lady seemed to be doing everything - manning reception, taking breakfast orders, clearing up - but she was very friendly! The hotel is looking a little tired and could do with some modernising. I was put in the top of the hotel, which had a large room, although not suitable for anyone tall as the ceilings are all sloping. Quite an old school breakfast menu - kippers! - but not much choice of healthy options. Has a large car park at the back. Not the worst but not the best either.
