We enjoyed the apartment. Clean and tidied daily. Friendly staff. Reasonable choice in food and drink. Plenty of sun beds. Contrary to another review , you can use your wrist band until you leave even if this is after checkout at 12 noon.
I was worried having read some reviews before my stay but I really enjoyed my stay at BlueBay. It is exactly what it says it is - 3*; if you want and expect 5* then pay for 5* accommodation! Staff are friendly, hotel and grounds are neat, clean and tidy, food wise there is always a little something for everyone. The rooms are basic but this shouldn't be a problem as you have come on holiday and not to live in them. You do have to pay for wifi and international tv but, again, you are on holiday so do you need it?! There are various sun loungers all through the day and there only seems to be a problem generated when people feel it necessary to sit on them at 7.15 in the morning (when it's still dark) to ensure they get one in a specific place or a more comfy one. This causes other people to do the same. Relax, it's only a sun lounger. I only have 2 moans. Firstly, the music around the pool is the same cd everyday which is both loud and annoying. Secondly, there are no facilities for changing/showering when you have to check out at 12. We asked to keep one room on just for 3 hours but were told this wasn't possible as they were full. Funny that we could then go on the website and book a room for the night! Apart from that, I can recommend BlueBay for a nice, chilled week away.
bluebay is a nice place with friendly staff nice food and exercellant entertainment night and day you can have double spirits in glasses not plastic cups and beer nice not watered down also rooms nice with nice views of pool and front of hotel cleaned daily and plenty of cheap shops and resturants bars defo coming back even if its for a week fly with thomas cook again as jet 2 were dear
This was our first visit to Lanzarote and we loved it. Our opinion of Costa Teguise is very quiet and peaceful. From the hotel it is about 10 min walk to the shops and restaurants and 15 to 20 mins to the beaches. Our opinion of the hotel, to say it is only a 3 star, was spot on. Lovely place. The rooms are huge, we found the beds to be comfortable however an extra pillow would be nice. The shower was great, very powerful, the only thing is that the water leaks onto the bathroom floor? Breakfast was lovely, we found ourselves eating the food by the pool most of the week but the food in the restaurant at dinner was better than what was served at tea time. We found ourselves seeing what was on for tea and then leaving to eat out 6 nights out of the 7. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay... We read a lot of mixed reviews and were worried about our stay but we loved it. Great holiday.
We visited bluebay for our family holiday/wife's birthday. We didn't arrive till 10pm due to late flights. Like most places, we took our first impression with a pinch of salt due to it being dark and waited for the morning to make our first Impression count. For saying it's only a 3 star hotel, it is kept lovely, grounds are clean even though it is a windy island. However, food is a different matter. Breakfast is always the same which is ok, sausages aren't cooked properly and seem to be undercooked in the middle. At lunch/dinner, it's mostly veal, pork and fish. They have pizza and chips daily which are pretty good, and the pool bar serves the same plus burgers and hotdogs. however, a few other guests had raw bloody chicken legs, 3 times! So check your food! The gym is naff, a few cardio machines (don't use the cross trainer, you'll break an ankle as the foot plate is wobbly!) Free weights are pants too, 2x 12kg, 2x15kg and 2x 30kg dumbells, 1 random 8 kg dumbells and a barbell which goes to 50kg. A multi gym which had one pin, so one person can use it at a time and the air con doesn't work down there! The showers all leak as we spoke to another couple and they had the same issue, so a one of your towels will be wasted there, and there's a constant sewage wiff coming from the toilet! The beds are uncomfortable, pillows even worse and if you move slightly it scrapes on the floor, and if you have noisy neighbours like we did, you'll hear furniture scraps along the floor though the night! There are 3 tennis courts and a small play area outside for the kids, but you won't get told this unles you find it yourself. As for entertainment, there is a theatre and they have daily shows, starts with a kids disco which does the same thing daily and Bobby and beeby come out (two Caracters!?) then some sort of show, be it animals which are always rushed and then they want you to pay 10 euro for a printed picture, then either a singer or karaoke after. If yiu go all inclusive, it's worth it as you can drink to your hearts content as they don't measure the spirits! Dont bother wasting money on the lanzarote aquarium, it's 42 euro for a family and you're done in 15 mins if that! The beach is about a 10 min walk, or the nice beaches or a good 20 min walk to the west of the closest bench which I would recommend, alot of fish swim round there so the kids will enjoy that!
A friend and I stayed here for 7 days and 6 nights, us both being 19 and this seeming like more of a family hotel we were impressed. We arrived at the hotel late and missed dinner, but they catered for us with a choice of toasties and the chef and waitress were very kind. I was very impressed with our room as for a 3 star resort I really was not expecting anything amazing. We had a double room with a large balcony, bedroom and bathroom. There was a very good variety of food offered, always pasta, chips and pizza which was very good if you have fussy children and the snack bar had a very good variety. The bar staff and waiters were brilliant, very funny and friendly! Not too far away from the small beach or the large beach and there is a free bus that takes you to the beach 3 times a day also, but the walk is lovely especially if you walk by the beach front. The main shopping complex is also just 10 minute walk down the road and there is a shop and cash machine located just behind the hotel. Sunbeds, there was absolutely no issue in getting them everyday. I read some awful reviews before I came here and honestly ignore them all, this hotel is more than what i expected for a 3 star, definitely deserves a 4 star rating! Will be returning again!
Great variety of food - all freshly prepared. Lovely salad bar, fresh bread, pasta, rice and pizza available every day. Fresh fish and meats cooked to order as well as prepared meals from the buffet. Cannot fault the food or the service. The rooms were clean and spacious and the hotel was just a short walk to the centre of town and still had enough local shops to meet all your needs. Loved the location just that little bit out from the main town and just a short 15 minute drive from the airport. Plenty places to chill out during the day and in the evening. Worth a visit for either chilling out by the pool or exploring the island further
Just back from Blue Bay, first impressions favourable, Reception well organised, allocated room and had decent first impression, however once we settled in found some problems, firstly there was a strong "drain smell", on looking into this we found that the shower plug was the cause and we had to cover it to stop the odour, next the air con would`nt turn on, this was due to control unit only worked when the selector was on warm not cold, who knows why, then the door frame was loose in the opening, there was an inch gap and it did`nt feel secure, after reporting it, it took 2 days to repair. The food was the usual all inclusive fare, decent breakfast`s, lunch ok nearly every day Veal was on the menu, together with Pork and Chicken, salads etc, we had problems with the griddled food, on 2 separate occasions the Chicken drumsticks and kebabs were inedible due to being raw in the middle, so every time Chicken was on we had to check it was cooked properly before eating it. Now the entertainment, if you want good entertainment Blue Bay is`nt for you, the entertainment room was always stifling, never any air con, the children`s entertainment team were`nt the greatest, the usual kids disco always late starting and as always the same songs to dance to, the adult entertainment was hit and miss, one night a singer was on, I think her name was Nula it was like watching a karaoke singer, no personality and she had a tablet on the microphone stand with all the lyrics on so a lot of people left after a couple of songs, in the 2 weeks we were there we had to leave the hotel to alleviate the boredom. Finally overall, nice rooms, Pool ok, sunbeds available as long as you sorted them by 7.30 at the latest and stayed with them till 9, the best feature by far was the staff, always smiling and helpful.
First impression isn't a wow,,,,but the hotel looks modern, and is just out of the centre so you can walk easily down to the beachs...shops,bars,free bus to centre and a taxi is cheep enough.... It isn't in a noisy area ...on the quite side, having been before...there are some improvements. new sunbeds, more parasols and the improvements are on going.. Food was ok...but as we use it as a base we also ate out, trying the different restaurant Good local pubs too... Reception was always pleasant and helpful, not much entertainment tho,and no help with cases either...if you had mobility problems..there is no help ...no lifts but the hotel is only 3 stories high... The bed rooms are ok...clean bed new mattress...but the pull out beds need replacing...we were lucky we had a 2 bed room apartment and 1 bed apartment.beds were made everyday and towels changed... Plenty of staff in the restaurant and tables. Cloths changed after every customer ,for me I would have liked more verities in food...but it caters for families so ... We will go again as we like the position of the hotel...
Myself and my partner travelled to Lanzarote and stayed in a hotel called Blue Bay Lanzarote, as stated above. Upon arrival at the hotel we were greeted with a rude, abrupt woman at reception who was checking us in. After demanding the booking number, I showed her my phone which had the First Choice app up with the booking reference number on. However, this was not enough as she exclaimed "NO, THE BOOKING NUMBER I WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GETTING". So, my partner found the email which stated we had booked the hotel in the name which we had already stated, with the booking reference that I had already shown her. It was only then after ten minutes of being spoken to like an absolute idiot and trying to retrieve the emails we had been sent with the information did she actually give us our all inclusive wrist bands and proceed to explain to us when the cleaners come round etc. She also, proceeded to tell us how lucky we were that we could check in and go to our room straight away otherwise, we would have had to wait until 3 o'clock. Unfortunately, our flights were early in the morning and we got to our hotel around 11:30/12 ish. We don't select what times we fly so we may have had to wait till 3 to go to our room and check in, which seems absolutely ridiculous after being up so early. We were given one key card which seems ridiculous because there was two of us, and it meant we couldn't leave a key card in to make sure that the air con remains on whilst we were out. After, settling into our room we noticed that the apartment that she had stated was cleaned for us, certainly wasn't. There was a leftover complimentary shower gel left on top of the shower. There were scuffs and marks all over the furniture, as well as the wood peeling off at the bottom. We had two single beds pushed together. As well as, a bathroom that stank of poo ALL THE TIME which we put down to the fact that either the sewage system is awful or the crack in the shower floor was to blame for letting the smell seep in. The day after, we returned from breakfast to find the cleaner had been and replaced our towels and make the beds (kind of). If you call making a bed, leaving the bed sheet as it was slept in and just straightening out the blanket on top and moving the pillows back. Not once was our beds stripped throughout our stay. Often we came back to immaculate beds, but when you pulled the top sheet back, the bed sheet was exactly how we left them in the morning. The floor was mopped once during our week stay, despite the fact that there was a woman hair all over the floor in our apartment which certainly did not match my hair colour. One night I used the cooker to make some dinner as the food at the hotel was sub standard and certainly not worth the six hundred odd pounds that we paid each. I had spilt some dust from a packet of noodles onto the hob, but with no dish cloths provided I couldn't clean it up myself. After finishing my dinner, I left the plates in the sink. The next day after returning from breakfast she had been again only to find that the dust was still left on the cooker TWO DAYS LATER and the sink was full of hot water with the plates in. As a result of this I used one of our towels to clean those plates and the work surfaces as there were hundreds of tiny bugs everywhere. Any tea or coffee that we had used, was not replaced at all. The sofa was dirty and stained, the floors were left with loads of hair on them, crumbs everywhere, the coffee table had a stain on it from a spilt drink, we left four empty bottles on the table to see if they would be cleaned up, again they were left there until I physically put them in the bin myself. We had a cockroach in the room, my partner used a shoe to kill it and hit the wall a little which led to some dust and the wall crumble a little, which was never touched or mopped up in the whole time that we were there. We paid around six hundred pounds each for this holiday and I was absolutely disgusted with the state of the place. Last year we went to Crete, and we paid roughly five hundred pounds for a four star newly renovated hotel. The standard of that hotel was amazing, the food was different everyday, the rooms were cleaned and beds were stripped everyday, the coffee and tea was replaced, they moved the furniture just to mop and sweep the place, I know this because one day I was sat in the room whilst the cleaner was there. We had a double bed, unlike the two singles we had. Upon our arrival in Crete we were checked in and our luggage was taken for us to our rooms within ten minutes, a face towel was given to us as well as a glass of water.
