We spent 8 nights at Bluebay in Feb. All in all a pleasant stay and good value (I’d return at that price). Pros: Excellent food (better than I’ve had in 4* all inclusive hotels) with lots of variety. We didn’t get bored over the 8 days. Something for everyone - lots of fresh salad, pasta and pizza at every lunch and dinner for those who prefer Italian, stews, meats, fish, soup, fajitas, Chinese etc. The pool bar also offers salad, pasta, burgers, chips etc. all afternoon. Nice, modern apartments with a large kitchen/lounge, balcony, bedroom and bathroom with decent shower. Good location, 5-10 minutes walk to the main town with Playa Blanca beach just over the road and supermarkets, bars and restaurants on the doorstep. Very pleased with Jet2 and their resort check in option for suitcases so we didn’t have to lug them to the airport and check them in there Cons: No spa. Our week was rainy and unseasonably cold, certainly not sunbathing weather. However we’d chosen this hotel because it had indoor facilities and we know the weather in winter isn’t guaranteed. On arrival we were told the spa had burnt down 6 months ago and our travel provider should have told us. Lack of evening entertainment made the bar fairly boring. Although evening entertainment was advertised, not once did we see any. The only thing happening in the bar was a TV with Sky News. Pool area is a bit of a wind tunnel and poor drainage resulted in the pool bar area flooding and huge puddles across the hotel when it rained. The indoor bar and reception were very cold, people were wrapped in blankets in the bar. The Canaries are windy and as mentioned it was unseasonably cool, but I’d be much more likely to return to BlueBay in summer than winter. Balcony and beach were more sheltered.

Some of the staff should find different careers! Should not be in hospitality at all! Some staff are really lovely - mostly found in restaurant. Front office staff I think should be in back office! Food is ok, rooms are clean - although floor not mopped today.

Visited early February and was very disappointed. The hotel is in poor condition with plaster falling off in certain places and cracked and damaged ceilings. I appreciate the weather was bad during visit but no hand rails on wet tiled steps from room very dangerous. The bedrooms and public areas not heated and the management made no attempt to make it more comfortable for guests. What about temporary heaters in bar area? Piano in corner but nobody playing? To get drink or coffee during day when raining you had to go outside to pool bar, empty because roof only raffia and not waterproof, and carry back up tiled steps in rain - why no open lounge bar during inclement weather? The food good and restaurant staff very friendly and efficient . Would not return.

Returned from the Bluebay on 10/2/18 and all though the weather wasn't great my wife and I had a great weeks holiday and we would definitely return.We had read all the complaints before we went so we were a little bit apprehensive but those fears were removed as soon as we arrived with a quick check in and a very friendly greeting.The complaints about the cold food are nearly right it was more warm than cold but there was plenty of food that was hot enough.There was plenty of choice for breakfast,lunch and evening meal.The hotel and gardens were kept clean and tidy as were the roomy apartments.The shower was outstanding and the bed was comfy enough.The pool area was a bit tired but perfectly acceptable with ample sun beds available.The all inclusive drinks were as large as you wanted them and Free.If you want 5 star treatment then don't expect to pay 3 star prices and then complain.For what you pay you get a good value all inclusive holiday.The staff were friendly and helpful.The hotel has its faults but nothing major.It is after all open 12 months of the year making maintenance difficult.The main bar,nightlife and restaurant area is a 15 minute walk or a 3 euro taxi ride away.There are a few bar and restaurants a 2 minute walk away.For what we paid I couldn't fault the place

Stayed at the Bluebay from 4th to 11th February. Room.--- Top floor apartment with distant sea views. Spotlessly clean with daily cleaning (except Wednesday). One of the most comfortable beds I have slept in. Plenty of room. Never use the T.V. on holiday so can`t comment on that. Only problem was that after rain a large puddle formed outside which made access difficult. Restaurant----- Fabulous staff, without exception. Plenty of food choice, in particular the fresh cooked to order Fish was excellent. I`ve had better food on holiday but also considerably worse. Overall I felt it was good value for money. In addition wine and beer available. Bars--- Small lounge bar with excellent overworked staff. Unlike a previous reviewer I never had to pay for a drink as I was quite happy with the local drinks. Pool bar was o.k. and you could order freshly cooked snacks there. The lounge bar area was not very comfortable and could get cold at night. Reception--- Helpful staff bar one young lady who had an attitude problem. Hotel in general---- Value for money. Some small niggles but we enjoyed our holiday despite changeable weather

We stayed in Bluebay Hotel from 3 February. We asked for a quiet, top floor room/apartment, we got a dingy ground floor room next to the sports bar on the street and the in-house disco! The bathroom was plagued by hundreds of black flies daily too. You had to pay for the t.v., you paid a daily charge for the room safe and most of the drinks at the bar had to be paid for. My partner was very ill and unable to get to the restaurant so I asked if I could take some food to him in the room and was told there would be a charge! All inclusive, my backside. On the surface the place looked alright but once they have you the standards drop. I will say staff in the restaurant were pleasant and helpful. The only stay I would recommend is stay well clear.

Just returned from a 12 night stay at the Blue Bay hotel in Costa Teguise Lanzorote. Would highly recommend this hotel as the suites are large and cleaned everyday and the hotel is clean. The all inclusive resteraunt served different meal varieties daily with meat / fish cooked to order daily and a good range of fresh salads. The staff throughout the hotel are all lovely and hardworking but especially in the resteraunt where nothing is too much trouble. The entertainment was entertaining!. The location of the hotel is good but about 1/2 a mile from the town centre but very close to the hotel are a good selection of bars and shops.

Check in was a farce, they're so slow and demand to have a voucher from your travel agent (as if they don't know you should be there) I have never stayed in such a dirty hotel, we stayed for 2 weeks and never ate a hot meal, we lived on toast, sandwiches and desserts. Another reviewer said about raw food and we also had raw pork and chicken (please see photos), the chef was cooking raw chicken on the grill with cooked and totally raw meat touching each other, he then tried to give the contaminated piece to a guest, if the management keeps denying these problems someone is going to be seriously ill if not worse. It is NOT pre cooked in the kitchen at all, the chicken fillets were totally raw. our first room had 4 cockroaches and hundreds small ant like bugs in the kitchen but like other guests we did not leave food around, the sofa was stained with who knows what and the fridge was broken. The dino supermarket sells a bug spray which is really good stuff, it still didn't stop the bugs though just killed the ones we could see. We accepted the offer of a room change but the 2nd room was as bad, we didn't see any cockroaches just the small ant like things, it was still filthy. You get to a point at the Bluebay where there's no point complaining, the staff and management just have pre rehearsed excuses and don't do anything to help, Carlos tried his best though. The heater in the rooms didn't work so we had to go around the corner to hire one for 1 euro 50 per day because it was cold on a night. We asked the Thomas Cook rep to move us but it was going to cost too much, we bought our own cleaning products to clean it when our complaints were ignored, the management are good at glossing over issues but we gave them 3 chances to clean the room properly but it still wasn't done, they clean in small circles and the rooms and worktops don't have corners. The day we left, I removed the mattress protector and there was urine stains on the mattress. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to this hotel, in 14 nights we never met anyone who enjoyed their time there, some of the bar staff and chefs are really nice people and always have time to speak to you, others are rude. A few times we had our table cleared when we went to get more food, which is rude. The animation team are fantastic and try and involve everyone even when you don't take children. The hotel in general is at the back of Costa Teguise and a short walk from the Aquapark. I will visit Costa Teguise again but would never return to this hotel.

Stayed unfortunately for 28 days. 1st apartment smelt so bad of cigarette smoke and sewage we had to move. No problem with reception and housekeeping to do this, only to get an apartment that thankfully didn't smell but was so uncomfortable. The sofa bed in lounge area was so uncomfortable and dirty we did not use, the staff, yet again did act on our complaint and screwed the ends of sofa back on, replaced the mattress which we weren't using anyway. But didn't clean it or provide anything to cover the stains. The bathroom floods each time shower is used. Spent so much money on cleaning solutions and cloths, so disappointing. We bought an extension for the tv and moved into the bedroom for the duration of holiday. Breakfast and lunch was passable as we ate cereals and made up sandwiches. But evening meals are atrocious, the food is Luke warm at best, and choices ridiculously low. We ate out most evenings due to the standard of the food. The staff work so hard, but unfortunately are let down by the owners of this hotel. We tried to move hotel but the TUI rep was not helpful in trying to find us another hotel. This was not a cheap holiday, we did not expect a palace, but comfortable and relaxing would have been nice.

We are still at The Blue Bay in Lanzarote, I thought I’d write a review because the management discards reviews because the issues weren’t brought to their attention whilst here. We arrived to this hotel at a quiet time of the season but are really disappointed with the things we have seen, first issue was hundreds of bugs in the room. Like others we heard the story of food in the room, we only had chocolate in the fridge, we were all inclusive so no need for any thing else so they can’t use that excuse. We went out for the evening and came back to the dining table and worktop crawling with hundreds of ants, we managed to squash all we could see then went at midnight to reception to inform them, I was given an insecticide to kill them which was fair enough. We sprayed the worktop with the insecticide and it stayed on there for 3 days until I cleaned it off, the table was covered with splattered bugs again for 3 days. I told the reception 4 times it needed cleaning, I asked for the spray and cloths to clean it myself and they refused because I was on holiday. They sent a cleaner up that didn’t understand English, in the cupboard were again dead bodies of insects and are still there now, even though we asked her to clean it. I watched the cleaner use a cloth covered in insecticide to wipe out the cups and plates so we didn’t use them at all. We haven’t had bedding changed in 6 days, cleaning standard is a joke. Room clean now because I went and bought the stuff to clean it myself FOOD. No matter what excuses the management come up with it is cold, there’s a cold and barely warm selection, ok there’s a microwave but it only dries out already dry tasteless food. Yesterday evening had fresh chicken fillets on the live cooking station, the chef wasn’t there so I looked over onto the hot plate, cooked chicken was on top of raw, chef came back took the contaminated cooked piece and tried to put it on my plate. Another guest had raw chicken served to him, when he complained to management they said it was safe to eat!!! The previous replies from management saying food is within a recommended heat range is to me rubbish, sausages just brought from the kitchen was almost flat cold, even one of the chefs was shouting today ‘ come and get hot chips ‘ because he had just taken them out from the fryer. 99% of the staff are spot on and really nice, a few sour faced ones don’t spoil your holiday. We have pointed all these issues out to the staff at reception and the TUI rep and they couldn’t care less to be honest. In my opinion spend a little more money and go to the Los Zocos a little further down the road. MANAGEMENT We are in room A204 should you wish to discuss this further before the end of our holiday, (by the way we are on the 2nd floor and we have bugs)
