What a fantastic hotel! Really can't rave about this hotel more. The rooms are traditional Japanese, the showers are huge, water pressure is good, hot water abound, towels are meticulously folded, comfortable beds, clean sheets, and floor is swept without even a single hair left behind. Staff is incredibly pleasant, and breakfast is dazzling in the morning. If you don't mind the price, this is a terrific stay. Absolutely delightful

Cannot say enough positive things about the staff and the hotel. 11/10 in every way. Now just gotta figure out how to get back there.

What can I say. This was the most incredible staff I've ever had the pleasure to meet. They went above and beyond, attentioned to detail, warm, and helpful. we felt like we were the only ones in the hotel. They found out about our recent engagement and treated us like kings with special touches. The restaurant downstairs has a traditional Japanese teppanyaki, and it was the best meal we had in Japan. we also paid 130 per head for that meal which was quite pricey but would do it again. Would recommend to anyone going to Kyoto. Also the rooms were perfect and cozy. If i ever come back to Kyoto, I am staying here again, no question.

Fantastic stay. Nice mix of modern and traditional. Very comfortable beds and room.

The hotel staff are very helpful and considerate. I requested them to help book a restaurant for me. The whole process was ver smooth.

Excellent hotel and great location. I cannot be more happy with my selection of Hotel Kanra. Thank you all the staff.

We loved staying here with our 22 month old daughter. The staff were incredibly helpful, we loved the room, and the breakfast was great too.

Stayed in the Kanra suite, which was cheaper than staying at the four seasons or Ritz carlton, had our own private outdoor bamboo soaking tub big enough to fit 2-3. Suite itself was lovely with working area, living room, and large bedroom with 2 california king beds. Also amazing bathroom with expansive walk in shower and traditional tub. Everything was new and incredibly clean. Service was excellent. The only thing the hotel was missing was a pool, although with our private tub didn't miss it. Would definitely recommend this even over the four seasons or ritz as a boutique property

Upon arriving at this hotel on a rainy afternoon, we were greeted, our luggage, coats and umbrellas were removed and dried and we were offered hot tea. The room was very comfortable. The staff was very attentive and answered any questions we had about the hotel as well as the surrounding area.

This is a great hotel to stay at for a family. Our family of 4 was able to stay in one room. 2 adults on a king bed which could have fit 3 of us easily and 2 futons on tatami mats. The hotel is a 5-10 minute walk from Kyoto station but because it is in an alley small street, it feels like it is in the old part of Kyoto. You have the convenience of a modern hotel with the feel of a ryokan. The low table and tea set were perfect. The staff could not have been nicer and spoke English well. They helped us with information on the Gion Ato Matsuri parade route, gave us maps and recommendations of where to stay. The bathroom had a large cypress soaking tub and a shower behind thick frosted glass with enough privacy. The toilet was in a separate room with a door and was high tech. The Yakuta provided for sleep were traditional Yakuta with a belt and was pretty. You could wear this outside. Just a great stay. Would definitely come here again.
