We love this hotel, the staff are so friendly, the food excellent, location good. It may not be the prettiest part of Kos but the hotel is wonderful the gardens are amazing. The staff work so hard but always take time to have a chat and make you feel so welcome. I was not sure if I should write a review as I dont want it to get too popular. I think we were the only British couple there, mostly Germans and a few French. The views from the restaurant were beautiful looking at Turkey and other islands, sun sets again amazing. There are many trips to take to other beautful islands, Kos is lovely and you can take a boat to Turkey for the day, we propose to do this next time. We dont normally return after a second visit but it is such a relaxing holiday we shall be returning next year. Thank you to everybody at Mastichari for making our holiday so relaxing and making us feel so welcome. The entertainment team were very good and again worked very hard although we did not participate in anything we just wanted to relax and enjoy the pool. Evening entertainment also pretty good. .
Spent two nights at the hotel which included breakfast and dinner. Quiet room set in beautiful gardens. Excellent facilities for guests. All the staff were all welcoming and efficient, on the front counter, restaurant staff and housekeeping. We enjoyed the buffet meals, a large variety of foods on offer including plenty of fresh fruits and salads, roast meats and cooked vegetable sides, traditional Greek choices along with a chef's offering for the night. Children were catered for with a kid's buffet menu. My dessert choice of a chocolate mousse and a tiny cheesecake with fresh cherries was just right to finish off a good meal. The hotel appeared very family friendly with a large playground area for the children. After dinner we walked around the gardens enjoying the abundant roses and other flowering plants the gardens are filled with. Will definitely be back.
With a late arriving flight, it was nice to find sandwiches prepared for us. Curious reception going-on. Told that all rooms were booked, and we were to have first night in a family suite, and then could see what was available the next day. So, room 703, awful. Next day, the nice man on reception said try a newly available standard room, which was lovely, was now free, which we jumped at. From then-on all was fab. The prospect of a week in 703, might have made us move hotels. Just 15 mins from the airport, and half way up the island, this is a super place for touring one end to another. The car hire from green motion went well. Enjoyed the hotel food and drinks, with great bar staff. Loved the music in the main bar. He deserves a new sound system. 10 mins walk up the beach to the Aplo beach bar is a must. Full of Very well behaved Germans, so don't mention the Cleese. Hope to return.
Mostly impressed by the friendliness and motivation of the personell. They actually really seemed to enjoy their jobs. Rooms were clean and of a good size. The entertainment program doesn't go for too long at night so there is no issues with noise at night time. Altough there is a Private Beach for the Hotel, I would recommend going to the public beach (about 10min walk) since that one is a lot bigger and nicer. The food tastes good and is way above the average all inclusive Hotel food. Different Meals and a great variety so there was always something for everyone on the buffet. A few little turndowns that could be improved: The Fitness room (if you can call it that) could need an update and extension of equipment and an AC. The Wifi only works in the lobby (it is available at the pool as well but doesn't work there) Overall a great stay and would definitely recommend it!
Just returned from this hotel, the staff were so friendly and could not do enough for you and they never expected to be tipped although we did. The food was excellent and lots to choose from too much if anything. The staff in the restaurant were so lovely and friendly even thought they were very busy. The view from the restaurant looks over the sea and harbour the island of Kardamena and Turkey. We were in room 165 which was amazing, lounge, bedroom, bathroom 2 balconies, fridge, kettle and microwave, we had views over the swimming pool and sea (we did pay extra for a sea view and it was well worth it). Our room was cleaned every day and I am sure the bedding was changed every day to, the whole of the hotel was absolutely spotless. We upgraded to all inclusive which again was well worth it, snacks and ice cream were provided throughout the day with cofee and biscuits, we were both too full to endulge!! The pool was kept clean I did find that it went quite deep quickly I am not a confident swimmer so I was a bit nervous. The rule about not keeping sunbeds before 10 was totally ignored, we saw one lady reserving 6 beds, 3 tables and 3 chairs at 7.15 in the morning right under the Manager's nose by the time we arrived at 9.15 there were hardly any beds left by the pool, there are plenty of other beds around the hotel though including the beach and gardens but the popular areas were taken straight away. I am not blaming the Manager or staff who work by the pool they are far too busy to clear towels and belongings guests should just respect the rule. We caught the ferry over to Kardamena and had a lovely day there I recommend the coach trip around the island to appreciate how beautiful it is. Went to Kos by bus which is opposite the hotel, get there early as it gets full pretty quickly especially on return, although this is not too much of a problem as they put on another bus within 5 to 10 mins. Mastichari town is bascially taverns and gift shops and a large supermarket, there are steps right by the pool tavern at the hotel which takes you straight onto the main road to the town and harbour which are both about 5 minutes away. The majority of the guests at this hotel were German very few British while we were there. We had a fabulous holiday thanks to EVERY member of staff at the hotel for making it so special.
The hotel situated right near sea shore 3 minutes walk from Mastichari village. The territory looks like beatiful garden with many flowers and trees. Though beach right near the hotel not the best you can find on Kos, but it is free and also there is one large and couple of small child pools. The room we stayed was superb, junior suite with small kitchen and large balkony. The staff is very responsive, I was impressed with Greeks hospitality. And there are many activities for children - game room, evening animation program. To summarize, if you'd prefer quite place to stay with you family, Mastichari Bay is definitely perfect option, if you want some more drive, probably better to stay in Kos city, Kardamena or Kefalos, which look more vivacious. And I advise you to rent a car at least for day, there are many picturesque places, mountains and sea views on the island. The places must see: Plaka forest, Asklepion, Kos castle, Zia village.
When we visit the website, the picture didn't tell us much but the ratings where the best. When we came at the hotel, we discovered why it has so high ratings. It's a clean hotel, nice rooms, not to busy, verrrrrrry nice people that work there and the food is excellent! My hats of to the kitchen! Also nice guests and the animation team is not to pushy and nobody is begging for a tip... We will come back, that's for sure!
Nice hotel. Rooms are clean and are a decent size, no tea or coffee facilities in the rooms which would have been nice but not a problem. The staff are friendly. The food was varied and very good, something for everyone. I would recommend to try and get a table on one of the balconies when eating in the main restaurant, its cooler and a quieter. Location is good, close to the restaurants and bars.
We stayed here as a family of five. We really liked our family room which was set apart from the others and had a big terrasse and also a balcony and two bathrooms. We felt very lucky to have such a delightful and quiet little house to ourselves. The gardens in this hotel are magnificent! The pool is great and we found it difficult to leave it! I loved the way the hotel doesn't allow any reserving of sun loungers before 10 am. This is such a great idea. My youngest daughter enjoyed the mini club and made lots of friends in the process keeping her busy and occupied either there or in the pool. Katya was great with the children and organised many interesting art activities. Ali Baba and his team were really good. They kept us laughing and moving in the morning gymnastic sessions and aqua gym. My teenagers also liked the water polo matches..in fact all the staff were really friendly and helpful. We opted for half board but mostly this hotel caters to "all inclusive" guests. The buffet is AMAZING! So much choice and variation every day, we ate like kings and queens. Although please be aware on half board drinks are included at breakfast but not in the evening. You even have to pay for water... The hotel is well situated not too far from the airport so the transfer is quick. There is a bus that stops outside the door to take you to Kos town (25mins) or the waterpark which is only a 10 minute drive away. The beach at the hotel is ok but not great. Lots of seaweed and small stones..but it is possible to swim off a pier. But only 5 minutes by foot away is a fabulous long beach. It wasn't busy at all and absolutely beautiful.
Nice hotel. Had to change my room at the beginning as I was given a family room instead of what I booked which was a double room. (Family room means an extra bed, and a microwave, but the furniture is sparse and you have very limited space outside your front door as all the family rooms are cramped together). But once that was changed we had a great room with a lovely balcony. Restaurant was ok - friendly staff (special mention to my favourite Violetta!) but its the classic buffet food that sort of changes every night but the same staples are always there, so after 1 week you can get a bit bored. Pool - nice but limited to lying or swimming and the lounges are all very close together. And they are all taken early despite efforst from the pool staff to stop reservations. Beach - not great. Go to the main Mastihari beach and you will have much more fun! Kinder Club - super! It was really great for my daughter to spend a few hours out of the sun in the mornings with fun activities. Katja was great with the children. Animation team were fun! Slightly limited on evening events - mainly centred around quizzes. Gym there - but is bit basic and no air con or even a fan! Also its either half board or all incl. I went for the half board and felt a bit of a 'sub-standard' guest as I always had to sign for drinks etc. (I didn't know of the option of all incl when I booked but I guess thats a problem with my agency). Another mention is to hard working Myra at the Taverna and pool bar! Lovely holiday, Kos is a great island!
