Miserable, unhelpful, rude staff with depressing rooms, a shower you don’t want to wash in and doors that slam all night, No breakfast to speak of and miserable oap’s in charge of it. Broken lift and unhelpful staff not willing to even be helpful, never again.
Overall we found this to be a very basic hotel but it suited all our needs. Breakfast was a let down which consisted of boiled eggs, jam, bread yogurt, coffee, juice. We did not touch the breakfast as it was absolutley discusting & we could not believe people were actually eating it, there was also never had enough cups to go around. We were not bothered as we got the holiday very cheap and brought our own travel kettle and had our own breakfast on our balcony. Good points: * Very cheap price. * Lovely view to the mountains/ sea. * Close to Kos Town (about 25 moinute walk) but not too close or far away. * Next to a handy supermarket and taverners were close by. * Clean room beds changed most days. Bad points: * Staff miserable, unhelpful and rude. If you asked for anything it was as though you were being akward. * No kettle in the rooms or hair dryer (we took our own). * Only one pillow and bed sheet per person, we resorted to stealing extra from the maids trolley just to get a comfortable nights sleep. * Air con was far too cold however if you turned it off athe room was far to ward at night. We did not sleep well at all due to this. * Beds are very low down to floor, those with mobility problems may struggle with this. * Balcony is small. * Breakfast horrific dont bother even getting up for this. Despite the negative points we could oversee them as it ticked all our requirements and was a very cheap holiday. but for the price we paid we were happy with this.
Ok, I get that this place is “budget friendly” but at the very least a friendly welcome should be included in the price because there’s not much else that you get for what you pay! My husband, brother and I arrived to what seemed like a deserted hotel. Doors wide open, other guests luggage left free for anyone to take near the unmanned desk and absolute silence apart from the traffic at the busy intersection just outside. We stood around with all of our bags for about 5-10 minutes, when finally a dark haired woman walked in barely uttering the word “yiasas” as she dragged herself behind the front desk. She didn’t ask for any details immediately so I gave her my passport as the reservation was under my name. She looked at my passport and then at me “where’s the other passport?” I was a little startled at how abruptly she asked me the question to which she definitely noticed but then proceeded to ask again in the same rude tone “who is the other person that is staying with you?” my husband replied that it was him and she demanded his passport once again in her disgustingly rude tone. I started getting irritated. She then started telling me about the government tax and demanded payment immediately. Only a room key was supplied and it seemed like she was relieved to get rid of us. We made our way to elevator which was tiny, so I got in with only 1 large luggage and 2 small carry on bags and my brother and husband would take turns after me. We were instantly approached by a serious looking man who started yelling “not all of you in the elevator at once it will break down!” my husband, who by now was also irritated from the horrible check in experience replied sarcastically in Greek to the man “who could fit in that elevator?” - we finally entered our hotel rooms: it looked nothing like the photos and I was still in shock from our first 15-20 minutes experience at Kos Bay Hotel. There was no kettle as it states online and shows in photos, old stained towels, stained bed sheets, lopsided pillows, sunken and worn mattresses, hair in the shower and all over the floors, soap scum in the shower and throughout the bathroom, low light in the bathroom, shower head doesn’t fit the overhead mount (so you’re forced to hold the filthy shower head throughout your entire shower) the shower curtain is not functional as it closes across the shower leaving no room to stand in the shower without the curtain sticking to your entire body. We had to leave the shower curtain open which flooded the entire bathroom floor. I also ended up showering with shoes on because the shower base felt sticky and I definitely didn’t feel clean after showering, especially using those extremely old towels. Luckily we had relatives nearby who supplied us with proper pillows and clean sheets to sleep on (which we packed and locked away in our suitcases every time we left the room). I booked this hotel months ago before a lot of the recent reviews were submitted and it seems like summer 2019 has been the worst experience for some people. I am so disappointed. I’ve been to Greece a few times and I have stayed in many different places and hotels. I have never heard or experienced service like this before. These people don’t care about the hotel or its guests and it’s quite sad to see because Greece, especially Kos is a magnificent place to visit. These people will provide nothing but a very unpleasant start to your Kos experience. We checked out 5 nights early even though we paid for 10 nights. Do yourself a favour and PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE!!!
From the moment we got in the room, we knew it was going to be awful. Air-condition didn't work and the receptionist had an attitude like we didn't know how to use it. She told us that she'd call the technician but no one came to check. And we're talking about August in Greece. I had to sleep on the balcony(!) because I was literally dripping in sweat. But the worst came late at night. As soon as we got in the elevator IT STARTED FREE FALLING!!! It was like being in a thriller although this was real and we didn't know how it was going to end. We were lucky because it was from the second floor (otherwise i can't imagine what would happen) so a few seconds later there was a loud crashing bump and it stopped between floors 0 and -1. Of course everyone heard so the response was immediate. A guy from the hotel got us out claiming we shouldn't have gotten in the elevator because we were over the maximum weight (which we didn't exceed for at least 80kgs). I scratched my arm on the wall as we were falling because the safety door didn't close and my friend has a bruised knee from the hit. So, if you want to take a risk with this facility, go on. They say "value for money" but they didn't have even the basic requirements.
The staff were unhelpful and unfriendly, it always felt like the guests were in the way. They have no manners or hospitality skills whatsoever. On arrival, our passport and the gov tax was demanded! No advice or explanation of the layout of the hotel or time for breakfast or even a map of the area was offered. There was hair on the floor in the room and we had a cockroach on the first night. There were always ants crawling on the floor. The bathroom sink was never cleaned. The toilet seat was broken and the towels although clean were very old and had stains on them. There was one very old pillow and only one sheet on each bed. We spent the first night freezing because we couldn’t turn down the air con and had no extra bedding to use. There was no kettle, cups or hairdryer but we asked and were given a small pathetic travel hairdryer. The breakfast was extremely basic: margarine not butter, very diluted juice, bread, hard boiled eggs, cheap ham, cheese and some sort of cereal. There was yoghurt but nothing to accompany it. There was no tea except for green mint tea in a teapot. The breakfast was cleared away at 9.55 and the coffee machine was switched off. The staff made us feel like we needed to hurry up and leave. On one occasion I asked for a cup for my tea as there were none and was told to ‘use a glass’. After a few days everyone brought extras such as butter and Nutella to improve the breakfast. There was what looked like a bar in reception but no one ever manned it so you could not get a drink. Apart from the young man who was there on 2 occasions the two reception staff were rude and did not want to help. If these people are mangers the the owners of the hotel need to soak them as they have no hospitality skills and were generally rude. If you want a budget hotel with no atmosphere then this will do but if you want friendly staff who make you feel welcome and provide a hearty breakfast to get your day off to a good start then this is not the hotel for you.
Don’t even think about staying at this hotel, your money will be wasted and you will be deeply dissapointed! This is the most terrible hotel I ever stayed at in my life. First of all, it is on the main road so it was very noisy even at night. Trucks and busses passing by made it impossible to sleep. Front desk staff were very rude and unfriendly during check-in and check-out. The room was dusty and very dirty was filled with ants and other people’s hair were all over the floor! All towels were old and dirty looking (white towels that had turned to light gray color but still being used!!). I felt disgusted by even looking at them. Also, the quality and variety of breakfast items were very poor. Plates were wet and they were not completely cleaned Coffee was horrible and there was no black tea. There was no butter, only margarine! There was only one type of jam that was low quality as well and what they served as honey was just a chemical and flavored syrup that had the look of honey. By the way, breakfast finishes at 10:00 and 3 minutes before 10 all food and drinks were taken away completely already! They were surprisingly punctual and precise when it comes to taking away everything and going home. They should try to be diciplined this way to clean up the hotel lnstead!! I really don’t think they should be in the hospitality business AT ALL! A complete disaster!
Firstly its cheap.so dont expect 4 star.its on the edge of the restaurant area.its opposite a very nice marina.here with teenage daughter.we eat in town sleep in room.we hired a scooter from actionbikes down the road, had a good explore of island.so we knew where to go next few days.no real beach near.just a small 100m stretch to the left and right of marina. So would we come back to hotel ??? Yes we would.
Where to start... Pathetic service - every member of staff is rude, has a patronising and unpleasant attitude towards customers. Did not have a single pleasant interaction in 7 days of stay. When we arrived, the room looked nothing like the photos and was packed with mosquitoes. Asked the guy at reception to change rooms, gave us a new room which had mosquitoes too but he was denying it in laughing, with rude tone even though they were everywhere and therefore obvious. The room had just had a guest check out as the toilet floor was flooded and the towels wet and bed unmade. I was trying to kill mosquitoes and I get knocked on my door to keep it down??? You shouldn't be offering rooms which are packed with insects to begin with. And if you do, and a client is nice enough to not complain again further and sort it themselves,the LEAST you can do is suck it up, not tell them to keep the noise down. We also found a pubic hair on the toilet seat before using it which indicates it wasn't cleaned and we're therefore not confident bed sheets were clean for us either. Our room was not cleaned or bed made throughout our stay, no shower gel. They tried to make us pay for the "Greek taxes" 3 times, even though we paid it on the first night. We kept getting pestered by the staff daily to provide them with stuff because of their incompetent service (reservation number, hotel voucher, length of our stay etc) interrupting us whilst we were sleeping in the room, just coming in!! NO INTIMACY. Breakfast is disgusting: bread, cheese and yogurt. Avoid avoid avoid. Pay a little extra and get the basic living essentials, don't ruin your holiday. We got this at a cheap price and it was A BIG MISTAKE. If you want a holiday free of infestations, no disrespect and with at least a minimum decent service, do not come to Kos Bay Hotel. They should pay people to stay here, not the other way round.
Location close to the Marina was the only reason staying. Stayed in ground floor = basement. Ants on the floor, noisy room close to road. Reception at night time did not speak English. Cheap, nothing extra, breakfast had at least warm coffee and cold water.
Completely unprofessional service. The worst breakfast...no interest from clerks, internet with no connection. The guys the own the hotel...simply they dont want to have ajob like this....they do not respect clients and they dont want to improve their attitude.
