WORST SERVICE I EVER EXPERIENCED! We booked on the official website of the hotel for five people and when we got there they only had a room for four and wouldn’t give us a refund, so we could go to another hotel. They just offered us to book an extra room for over $140 on top or “just sleep on the floor”. Unbelievable. When we called the DoubleTree customer service hotline we were told that putting us in that room (since it’s only for four people) is against state law. We told this to the manager, she repeated “just sleep on the floor”... and we actually did since it was late already. We were not offered an extra mattress, no free extra room, no refund. There are cheaper and better alternatives around, DO NOT CHOOSE THIS HOTEL!
First let me say when I put a note under where you made aware of the make it right service commitment it was because no one said anything about it when I had problems however it was in the literature if you read about it in the documentation provided in the room. Other issues I had was because I was told and had two peoples names that told me that breakfast would be provided as a part of my room rate when I arrived I was told that breakfast was not included. When I spoke to them about the people who had provided the information which there were two I was told by the front desk not that we will make it right but instead I was told we don't have anything to do with that we only know what pops up in our computer that would be Central registration. Disowning the company you are representing versus trying to make a call to your central registration to resolve the issues does not seem like a commitment to make it right at all. Additionally since I could not receive the free breakfast that I was promised after having booked four rooms under the premises that I would be getting free breakfast, I asked for a microwave to which they reply they were all out I checked back the next morning knowing that people would be checking out and tried again to get one as well and again they replied they were all out. I also called Central registration to try and fix the problem and they put me on hold and said that they would contact the front desk when Central registration came back to the phone and said hello the phone disconnected no one tried to call back to my number. I have been on hold for 30 minutes waiting for them to work out this situation with the front desk only to be disconnected. So I went to the front desk knowing that he had been speaking with them and asked what was the outcome to which the young lady responded she did not know that Central said that they would talk back to me. Since so much of my vacation had already been wasted I decided to chalk it up to a bad experience, eat breakfast out and call Central registration back later. The next day I called Central registration back only to find out that they did not have the power to do anything even as managers however they could put in a complaint which the first manager I spoke to did not but the second did. Although I provided all the information that would have been required when customer service finally wrote me back it was only to ask for more information that I had already provided. Irie provided the information and an explanation of what the problem was unfortunately that was about a week ago and I still haven't heard anything back from them yet. Bad experience all the way around. But at least I know that commitment to make it right is only for the sake of advertisement and that I should research reviews more carefully in the future.
Hotel was training some ppl when I checked in so it was a little bit of a cluster. Rooms are nice, but very low lighting in both bathroom and sleeping area. Take a sweater if you are going to the restaurant, freezing in there. They have a nice breakfast buffet. Good full service bar, however there is only one bartender/server and 1 cook. Food takes a bit to come out. Bartender would be called to help at the front desk, leaving patrons with no service. Pool area is awesome and being indoors, there is no chlorine smell. Small fitness near the pool.
Hotel staff was exceptionally nice and friendly! Check in was quick and easy along with a welcome cookie. Pool area was gorgeous! Although the pool was heated we still found it to be on the chilly side, however our 4 year old loved it. Breakfast buffet was delicious with plenty of options and the breakfast staff was wonderful!
We had a nice stay with friendly staff. As far as the facilities go however, I expect more from Doubletree. This stay felt more like a Hampton Inn than a Doubletree. This is partly due to this building having been several other hotels in the past. Although the rooms have been refurbished, some of the buildings features are tired. However, this is probably the best hotel in Harrisonburg.
Staff didn't go out of there way to assist. Several people at the front desk doing everything but assisting customers as a line was forming. Sink bubbled up constantly leaving some nasty stuff behind. I informed the front, and it didn't get fixed nor even written down. Overall very over priced and seemed like a Motel 6 experience.
I am an HH Diamond for Life so I spend a lot of time at Hilton properties. This place was refurbed about 2 years ago so it looks pretty good. Rooms were well appointed, comfortable and the bathroom was nicer than most Doubletrees I have been in. Doubletrees are notorious for small bathrooms and a small sink area. All the staff we met or interfaced with were really nice people and accommodating and helpful. We had a room away from I81 and I am a light sleeper and it was quiet at night. We will stay here again when we are back in the area.
We liked everything about this motel. It has been recently remodeled, so it is clean and modern. The beds are comfy. The staff is very helpful. The breakfast was great—eggs to order. The have a full bar. The indoor pool and surrounding are large and comfortable.
Very modern, chic and updated hotel. Friendly staff at a great price. Centrally located in the heart of the city. And warm chocolate cookies are waiting for you as we returned each day. Loved our stay.
We stayed here for our son’s graduation from JMU and found the hotel to be very nice. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We didn’t eat at the restaurant, but it looked really good. The only thing that I would change is that the bathroom was very dark. The staff was very friendly.
