5 star apartment full of facilities and a fabulous view of the city and eyre square. Very spacious bedrooms. Kitchen and sitting room area was fantastic. Secure building and right in the city centre of Galway
My family stayed in the penthouse apartment for 2 nights. There was 7 of us (2 children, 5 adults). This spacious, clean, 3 bedroom, 3 bath penthouse was the perfect start to our 10 nights of traveling through Ireland. The wall to wall windows in the living area boasted a terrific view of Eyre Square, with the Galway Christmas Market in full swing. The beautiful ferris wheel was lit up each night and made our stay in Galway extra festive. The Weston Hotel arranges the accommodations and is the reception point for the apartment. There is free parking (a tremendous bonus in Galway), WiFi, washer/dryer and every amenity you could need. I would highly recommend this apartment for a family or group of friends traveling to Galway.
Our apartment was quite run down. Looking old. Carpet was threadbare in bedroom. Nowhere in the shower to even put your soap, so you have to hold it while you shower. It says it is self catering, but there are not enough kitchen items for you to cook anything with. Very basic. Window has big crack in it from top to bottom. Blinds are stained. Lamp is sitting on a chair in the living room. Yes it is close to Eyre Square but that is the only good thing about it.
It is a pain to have to register at the hotel. Finding your way to the car park is a bit confusing as well. It took awhile to figure out the fob. The apartment was spacious. After almost a week we were more than glad to have the washer and dryer. To use the washer, we set the knob at daily wash. You have to turn the knob to dry and then set the timer. Enjoyed our stay.
we were truly surprised and love the space as the apartment was very spacious, open clean kitchen with all the essentials if you need it. Large windows facing the town so if you happen to be stuck inside on a horribly rainy day you do not feel confined in. We had a difficult time finding where we needed to check in but other than that we were really happy with it and will go back.
This place has been a joke from start to finish. Firstly - the booking confirmation insists you need to call ahead of check in to "make arrangements for check in". We couldn't imagine what arrangements we possibly needed to make, but we duly did as we were told and made a call (at international rates) to the hotel. The woman on reception was very polite but clearly thought we were completely mad. She told us we just needed to turn up at the hotel and they'd check us in normally then. Which is what we expected to happen anyway. The apartments are "just across the road" from the hotel where you check in - except they aren't unless you're minded to ignore all the one way roads. If you are a stickler for following the rules, the apartments are actually about a 5 minute drive away via the scenic self-drive tour of Galway's back streets - a map is provided to assist. What they also don't make clear to you is that you can't just park at the apartment and walk over to the hotel to collect your keys, you have to go to the hotel first as you need a fob to get into the car park. So you have to go into the hotel's car park (which is roughly the size of a shoe box), drop one of your party off there because it's full and there's nowhere to park, drive around Galway 3 or 4 times until they've checked in, come back for them, *then* embark on the journey around Galway a fifth time to get to the apartment car park. Once we'd found the right car park (more luck than anything else) we were able to get to our apartment. The lift had seen better days and made a lot of concerning clanking and banging noises. The apartment doors are all PVC door of the type you'd usually use for an external door, which is odd, but never mind. The apartment itself appeared on the surface to be clean and well presented but on closer inspection there was a clear lack of any attention to detail around cleaning and general maintenance. There were broken fittings in the bathroom, gaps between the floors and the walls, mould in the shower tray and on the shower head, the shop labels hadn't even been removed from some of the bathroom fittings, the bathroom had the world's most disgusting toilet brush which was actually STUCK into its holder. The bathroom door didn't actually shut properly, the kitchen had dirty cutlery with brown stains, a stain on the stove top, bits of plaster missing from the walls and dust on the extractor hood. In the lounge area there were loose wires trailing across the floor, coffee cup rings on the tables, and the blinds didn't fit the windows and had dirty stains on them. When we arrived at the apartment the room was excessively hot, and even with the bedroom window left open all evening it was uncomfortably hot. The bed was uncomfortable and very narrow for a double bed. This made for a very poor night's sleep. Overall the impression is that the hotel is milking these apartments for every cent they can get out of them whilst spending the absolute bare minimum on cleaning and maintenance. TripAdvisor will only let up upload 10 photos with this review so my photos don't really do justice to this place.
The location is good, but there are plenty of other accomodations with the same good location or even better and with a much better price. Very poor quality-cost relationship. They have a serious problem with the noise of a big machine system just beside the apartments. People at reception not very polite or helpfull. The check-in is in the hotel, so you need to go first to the hotel and then back to the apartments, and with all the luggage is very unconfortable. Doors are very difficult to open. The apartment was not even ready at the time they say it should be. I will not repeat.
My friends and I had a booking at the Western Hotel in Galway and when we arrived found out that we had been upgraded to a 2 BR serviced apartment nearby. The apartment was modern and clean and it was nice to have 2 bathrooms and a washer/dryer (although directions for that weren't super clear). Apartment was well located and only 5 min walk to Shop St. Enjoyed it.
The apartment we rented was modern, well lit with amazing views of the city. The kitchen and bathrooms were also clean and modern and the location of the apartment was walking distance to the center of town. However the beds were very uncomfortable and the light colored carpets were badly stained which grossed us out a bit. That said, everything else was very clean and the staff were very professional and polite.
Perfect location. Very safe and secure and underground parking included. The apartment was lovely, very spacious and had a gorgeous view over the city, with a nice balcony space too. Ideal location right in the city centre. Only slight negative was that the double bed was two single's pushed together. Not a big deal but I prefer a proper double. You check in in the Western hotel which is just around the corner. Staff there were SUPER friendly and gave great recommendations for some specific stuff we were looking for. We were only there for a weekend so didn't spend much time in the apartment but it would also be nice to relax in for a while. Lots of space and everything you need to cook etc. Very happy with the stay.
