Very impressive exterior and reception with most obliging staff. Our room was a junior suite at the end of a corridor which was disappointing as I'd requested one near a lift and had that confirmed in the email. We both have mobility difficulties so would have requested a move if we'd been staying longer than one night. The sitting room was lovely as was the bedroom where the courtesy tray was so had a problem with the self closing door as it didn't give me much time to carry to cups through, also it was VERY dark where the tray was situated. One small annoyance was that the toilet roll fell off the holder every time we used it. Maybe the holder could be turned? Excellent breakfast but not a high opinion of the toasted sandwich in the bar, it was just two slices of toast with a slice of ham and cheese between - the rocket was lovely though.
myself two daughters and my grand daughter stayed may 18 to 20 we arrived early from Sligo and our luggage was stored the day manager was very helpful and anita went above and beyond the rooms were comfortable and clean nice bar with friendly staff a special thanks to guru singh the breakfast manager we were leaving early for killarney and there were people in the breakfast area they were not open to 8 am on weekends we were able to have coffee Danish and cereal and he discounted the meal in all agreat stay at the maldron
I would like to give a big shout out to the staff at the maldron spa, Clodagh, Priscilla and Anna treated us like royalty, the treatments were fantastic, this was my third time at the spa here, the staff and facilities are a credit to the hotel. Thank you!!!!
We enjoyed our stay in this Galway hotel. Short drive out of town and ideal as a location for touring Galway or visiting the city. It's a step up from the usual budget hotels. Breakfast was very good with a wide selection and the rooms very comfortable. Staff at check-in very friendly. Would recommend if you're going to be out and about most of the time and looking for somewhere comfortable and pleasant for B&B.
Stayed at Maldron for four nights during car tour of Southern Ireland. Hotel was up to expectations. Room was large, well appointed and clean. Food in bar and bistro was varied and good quality, breakfast was buffet style with lots of choice and always well stocked. The staff, from first contact with reception to all the bar and waiting staff were friendly and helpful. Only disagreement with advertising is the time to walk into centre of town, not 10 minutes, more like 20, passing some not very picturesque shopping areas. Taxi service however is very well organised and is €8 approximately for the journey.
The hotel is, in reality, a 3-star unless you use the SPA (only open during the day and by appointment) or meeting facilities. Rooms are clean and spacious; restaurant food is good . All areas are 'dated' and could use some refurbishing. Staff are friendly. Only. 10-minute taxi ride to the city centre. I
Very polite and helpful staff. Room is clean and bed confortable. Decor a bit dated but not to a fault though. Dining room serves good food. Given the price, it is a very good deal. Would not call it a four stars but certainly a good three. For the hotel: I would move the smoking area which is right in front on the hotel. Guests have to walk throuh it when entering the hotel.
We only stayed two nights as part of a group tour. Our room was very clean and comfortable! The biscuits by the tea kettle were an added bonus to have with my tea at night. We were towards the end of a hall so very peaceful and quiet. Breakfast was average. No self serve coffee but that seemed to be the norm for us while touring Ireland. Only one hotel had a self serve coffee dispenser. We were reprimanded for attempting to pour our own coffee from the one small pot out on the counter but that's not a big issue whatsoever. We were able to walk into Galway for dinner.....about a 20 min walk so this place is out a bit. All in all a pretty nice stay.
We stayed with friends at this hotel at the end of May and were surprised to find the rooms hot and stuffy. Looking around, many of the rooms had the windows open - we should have realised at that point that the air-conditioning was turned off. But instead of being honest about it, the front desk staff pretended it was only our unit that wasn't working and sent us on a wild goose chase, trying out a number of other rooms. Of course none had working air-conditioners, but still the staff stone-walled. One then slipped up and admitted the whole air-conditioning system was on a different circuit and was turned off. It was 28 degrees in our room all night and sleep was impossible, even with a portable fan. The cost of the air-conditioning would have been only 1 or 2 euros per room. What is wrong with the management that they are happy to make customers' stay so uncomfortable. The breakfast food and evening meal we had there were both very ordinary. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.
I had the pleasure of visiting the spa at the Maldron this afternoon with a voucher from Christmas. I opted for a back massage and head massage. I received a warm welcome from Clodagh upon arrival who explained how things roll there so I knew what to expect. Orla brought me on a tour of the facilities, explaining what everything was. I enjoyed the thermal suite until called for my appointment. Amanda was my therapist, she gave me the best massage I've ever had and I walked away feeling like I was on a cloud! It felt like she had ten hands massaging me, she's gifted! I can't wait to go back again!
