Average room, average breakfast with staff that weren't too excited to be working . Good location . Negative was that i booked the room specifically because of location and the fact that there was a gym on site. Wrong, the gym was not even there anymore, was told by a worker they were doing remodeling . Bummed me out but it was an alright stay.
We stayed here for one night on our way back up to Omagh from Ennis. The good points are it is handy get to, easy access to the motorway and nice staff. The reason for the two stars is the noise from some fan system from outside which was incredibly annoying and really affected my sleep. We had a late checkout until 2pm but I left straight after breakfast to avoid sitting in the room any longer with this constant humming noise. The breakfast is just ok , there was plenty of everything but I found the hot buffet style food cold. I definitely would not go back here as I had no sleep and a rest stop it was not.
Room was spacious and clean. Sound on TV very poor. Quiet room despite location on busy roundabout. Excellent secure parking. Possible to walk into town or take local bus. Located close to shopping centre. Breakfast varied. Happy to see gluten free options. Dinner in restaurant average. Bar busy and seemed to be frequented by locals also which added to the atmosphere.
We were 5 Adults and stayed one night at this hotel. The hotel staff are very well trained and extended a genuine welcome. The hotel seems very popular with business travellers. I give the hotel and staff an A, however, I didn't really like the location, as, it seems to be located near commercial/ Industrial estates. It is located approximately 15 mins by car from Galway city centre. The breakfast was faultless and generous. The bedrooms large and warm and the beds very comfortable.
Wonderful gesture by Tadhg at reception to upgrade me to an available suite as I had arrived later than expected and was quite tired. Great food and excellent customer service. Highly recommended for business
The staff at reception and in the dining room were most helpful and very pleasant. Nothing was a bother to them. The room, while not the most modern, was spotless and pleasantly warm. The bed was extremely comfortable. There was an excellent choice of food for breakfast to suit all tastes and the menu was clearly marked for food which could cause allergic reactions, (eg. gluten, nut, etc.). The location was very good and within walking distance to thr town centre. There was free underground parking.
The Maldron Hotel Sandy Road Galway is a fantastic hotel...The staff are very friendly and welcoming, they couldnt do enough for us during our stay...the rooms are very spacious and have everything you need even have a fridge which is great 2 have a cold refreshment if needed...the hotel bar is very nice and the food in the restaurant is gorgeous, really recommend it...on my last day of my stay the staff were even good enough to give me a 2 hour late check out free of charge, which was a nice touch...i would highly recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of visiting Galway in the future and i will definitely returning myself in the future!
We're staying here at the moment for 1 night. I love staying away in hotels as a treat for the comfort and dinner etc. But from start to finish we were so disappointed I don't think I ever have given a bad review in all my time. Went to room and if was freezing window open heating wouldn't work so we let them know straight away.went into city and came back room still freezing rang reception and they said oh did they not sort it and said they would have porter bring us a heater for room heater hadn't arrived before we went down for dinner. The corridor was warmer than the room. Dinner started of ok restaurant cold to starter was very nice and then the main oh my god now it's hard to get chips wrong but they were terrible most of which were near black ate the chicken not the bun and a big spoon of coleslaw an the side of plate you would get better in a chippy. I mentioned it to the poor waitress who get all the gear from customers and they mentioned to manager so we had desert on the house which was awful also. We went back to room as it was to cold in bar and literally had to get into bed to get warm so disappointed for our break away and for these prices you would expect better food 😫😯
The things this hotel cannot be blamed for: The miserable view and surrounding area. I can't imagine a more depressing area as a tourist. Strip malls personified. Ongoing loud construction has also closed most of the footpaths surrounding the hotel, making it a very dangerous place for pedestrians. It's a long walk to the city center, like 30 mins. Not a good place to use as a launching pad to explore Galway. What the hotel can be blamed for: The only entrance to the hotel is poorly lit, hidden from most angles, and polluted with incessant cigarette smoke. Guests are greeted with a designated smoking area right outside the main door. If you can safely get around the fenced-in smoking corral and not get hit by a car around the blind corner, you'll find the main door. The lobby is generic, open, staff friendly and efficient. Hotel corridors and rooms sporting Carter-era carpeting. Room cleaners' carts, seen mostly during checkout times in most hotels, are left in the corridors all day/night here. Hallway just smells bad. Rooms clean, good size and temp control works well. Disregarding the nasty carpeting, rooms aren't bad at all. That's not to say you can't hear your neighbor's every cough or bodily function - there is no sound deadening at play here. I just heard my neighbor place coins or keys on the table and close a cupboard door, and can almost make out his conversation. Bed is an oversize king size, firm.
Fantastic staff. All very friendly and arrived to a very warm welcome. All had fantastic customer service skills! Location is ok, it's a bit of a walk to the city centre. Having it's own parking area is great. Although the bays are tiny it seems to be a common theme in Galway. The petrol station next door is very convenient. The room was fine although rather noisy. There seemed to be constant banging in the hallway, vacuuming in the morning, then today work being performed in the car park meant a lot of noise. I understand these duties need to be completed but I did not sleep very well. Nice and clean in the room itself. Huge bed which was great! Food was pretty bad. Took a long time to come out, hubby and I both had steaks but no steak knives which was strange. There weren't many other patrons in the restaurant while we ate but 2 of them made small complaints. The fries and onion rings were extremely greasy. Our waitress was very friendly, but overall dinner was very underwhelming. The price for our room was fair and reasonable. We would stay again but would not eat at the restaurant.
