Stayed at the Twelve hotel for two nights. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms nicely decorated and clean. Food and service in the West restaurant was excellent. Breakfast was a great selection of buffet and freshly cooked breakfast with accommodating staff.
Firstly, I should say that I have been to this hotel many times for dinner and have always found it to be good. I lived in Barna previously and I always said that I would go back to the hotel and stay sometime when the funds allowed! I should also mention that I emailed the hotel directly to give them this feedback and unfortunately, they didn’t respond at all, not even to acknowledge the feedback. I included the names of the staff members involved in my feedback to the hotel as quite honestly, I feel they should manage this themselves. We booked directly with the hotel and explained that we were really looking forward to our stay as we had been through a rough few months and we recently got married so things had been hectic. We wanted to relax and spoil ourselves! My husband and I stayed for 2 nights at the weekend and unfortunately it was far from the idyllic stay that we had planned for or based on feedback online, had expected. On arrival, things were fine. The check in was friendly and efficient. The room was comfortable. We went straight to the bar once we checked in and put our bags away. It wasn’t very busy but it took me a few minutes to get served, along with a local customer as one of the bar tenders walked past us without acknowledgment. It was very unfortunate that when this was said by the local man to the barman that eventually served us both that it seemed to be a common occurrence and both laughed it off. The barman that served us on this occasion and again a few times after was tall with dark hair. He was most pleasant. There was another barman on that evening also but we found him to be quite disengaged with customers in general over our stay. That evening we ordered a bottle of wine, some beers and food in the restaurant. The food was fine. The service was slow and non remarkable with the exception of the wine service; the gentleman was friendly & informative. We ended up leaving the bar and heading to Donnellys for the evening which was wonderfully warm and welcoming. The following morning we woke early and went for breakfast which was lovely. We got back to our room before 9:30, placed the ‘do not disturb’ sign on the door and within 30 minutes an almighty racket started outside with housekeeping cleaning the suite next door. This went on for 25-30 minutes. At 12pm, the therapist from the spa arrived to pick me up for my spa treatment. I booked for an Indian head massage as my back wasn’t feeling great and I didn’t want to book a back massage. I explained this to the therapist and she took me in to the spa. The treatment wasn’t at all what I had experienced previously of the same treatments. It was uncomfortable at times and not at all relaxing. This was compounded by the fact that housekeeping were again, outside the door rearranging room cleaning schedules, shouting at each other and banging doors. Also, the spa backs onto the car park clearly as I could hear people shouting, talking and laughing what seemed like right next door...again, not conducive to a relaxing massage. The position that I was in on the bed exacerbated my back issue and I spent the next two hours in the bath trying to ease a muscle spasm. My husband had his massage afterwards and he was thrilled with his treatment. He really enjoyed it and was very complimentary of the therapist. I totally understand that she may specialise in body massage but I wanted it to bring it to their attention nonetheless. When we got back to the room later that evening, our room had been visited by housekeeping. The bed had been made but the rest of the room hadn’t been touched. Our belongings weren’t strewn around the room so it wasn’t for the sake of not disturbing personal effects. The towels weren’t even moved or changed and the bins hadn’t been emptied. Dinner that evening was wonderful. Great experience and exactly what we had been expecting. A real credit to the chef and the Team. We went back to the bar afterwards and quite honestly I was disappointed at the service again and that’s where the experience ended for me. I went to bed but my husband stayed for a drink and then went with some of the locals to Donnellys. The next morning was fine until the carpets started being ripped up in the hallway. Leading to some disruption through the morning. We checked out and went home. We had a rough couple of months and we were really looking forward to this stay but it didn’t live up to what we’d expected, given what we read on the site or on reviews online. Also, quite honestly not what we paid over €700 for. Maybe it was just the weekend that we were there but it seemed very rough around the edges and not the polished gem that we read about. I used to live near the hotel and visited regularly. This weekend had been planned for some time and I’m sorry to say, it was a let down. My husband and I both work in Customer service and we were looking forward to being looked after for the weekend, especially before the Christmas rush, but quite honestly after our trip we were most delighted to be going home to our 2 dogs. Again, it’s very rare that I would complain about service, I’m more interested in celebrating when businesses get things right as I don’t feel we talk about the positive things enough. Whilst parts of our trip went well, overall I’m sorry to say, we were very disappointed with our stay. Again, I’ve eaten in the bar before and it has been really nice so maybe it was just the weekend that was in it. I have to say I’m absolutely gutted that we chose the hotel on that weekend. We were willing to travel for something wonderful and there were lots of places for less money at the same standard but we chose this as a special treat. The experience we had absolutely does not justify the spend.
I found the staff very helpful Menu I am not too fussy but no starters that I liked or dessset which I was surprised at But main course fish and chips was fab cooked to perfection a big portion but would have liked a choice of dessert or starters
The Twelve Hotel was an excellent choice. I felt like we received special treatment every step of the way. The room was welcoming and comfortable. We we greeted with a treat from their bakery. I highly recommend this hotel.
Myself and my family recently stayed at the Twelve hotel for a family wedding reception. I cannot say enough about how fantastic our experience was! The staff are exceptional and so friendly, the hotel itself is amazing and in great location just a few miles from Galway city centre. The food is simply amazing! We were all made feel very special and taken care of. This is a perfect hotel for an occasion or a romantic getaway. The bar area is relaxing and has a lovely atmosphere. Already looking forward to a return visit! Very highly recommend this hotel for a unforgettable experience!
We took our little dog away on holidays with us this year. The hotel has a great atmosphere beautiful food and great staff. The bedroom we had was great very spacious. The hotel gave us a water bowl and a food bowl for our dog. We got lovely treats when we checked into our room. The personalized card was a nice. This was our second time staying in the hotel once. I will certainly be back again
My husband I stayed there for one night during our recent trip to Ireland. The room was nicely furnished with unique, beautiful decor in the rooms and throughout the hotel. We sadly didn’t bring our dog on the trip, but they had an adorable puppy corner in the lobby for our four-legged family members. The restaurant and bar were great! We had pizza for dinner as well as breakfast. We loved interacting with the bartenders and trying each of their signature cocktails! Only con was the bathroom lighting was not very bright.
We have stayed here a number of times, and when booking tickets for the Jake Clemons gig in the Roisin Dubh recently, the Twelve came in at a great price. So, it always helps if your familiar with a place. The weather outside was unforgiving, wet & miserable , so we enjoyed the atmosphere at the bar. Our room was excellent as ever, breakfast the following morning was fantastic with an amazing choice. We had such a good time that we've already booked a family break for Easter '18. The only downside was that inevitably , we had to check out!!!
We came to Ireland with my fiancé for the bank holiday weekend and honestly... this was the first place where we had a decent meal so far. To be honest probably we wouldn’t choose it if a gentleman wouldn’t recommend it because of the simple fact that it’s part of a hotel but I’m glad we did. The decor looks really good especially after dark when the lights are turned on and the atmosphere inside is very good as well. The staff was very welcoming and very attentive through our meal. The mussel starter according to my other half was the best she ever had, and the two pizzas were lovely too. We’ve tried some local ale to accompany our meal and we weren’t let down at all. I could only recommend this place to anyone who’s in Galway, it’s worth a visit!
We stayed here for 3 nights and loved it. Centrally located with Galway nearby. Hotel is boutique type and is has an ecclectic, fun, funky decor. Absolutely loved all the different design touches. We had a large room with a little anteroom entrance. There is mood lighting in the bath which was fun and great as night light. Bath had all amenities needed. Bed was king size and so comfy! Nice wardrobe with safe. TV was nice. The shower had a big rain shower head and the bathroom was large. The breakfast was excellent - there was a buffet or could order off menu. The pastries were out of this world!! Served hot, right out of oven if you go early. Several restaurants in walking distance. The restaurant at the hotel is excellent. There are pubs and pizza place around the corner.
