Hilton Garden Inn Frederick

We stayed two days at the Hilton Garden in Frederick, MD. Check in was easy even with a large wedding party gathering to depart. We were given a voucher for brunch on Sunday since we were celebrating our anniversary. Unfortunately brunch left a lot to be desired. We both ordered home fries with our breakfast items. The food was delivered (it's a combo restaurant/buffet. The home fries looked and tasted like they had been refried multiple times. We didn't eat them. Hubby made his own waffle which was cold by the time we sat at a table. The room while clean on the first day was totally ignored the second day - no trash emptied or clean towels - bed not remade. The sink had very low water pressure and the hot water never got warm/hot. Both sink and tub and slow drainage. The pool was very small and we didn't use it because of that. Had to ask for a receipt upon check out (even with prepay we are used to the receipt being slid under the door.)

We were greeted nicely by the front desk staff around 3 pm. When we went to our room to drop off our bags, I immediately noticed a strange chemical odor but thought the room had just been cleaned and that the odor would be gone by the time we returned later that evening. When we returned around 10 pm - the smell was still there and seemed stronger. I went to the front desk and they sent up someone from maintenance right away. He agreed that there was an odor coming from the air conditioning unit and that it was probably exhaust fumes. He said he'd try to fix it or find us another room. Forty-five minutes went by and no one called. So, I went back to the front desk. The hotel manager said that the hotel was full and he could move us if we'd like - he also said he'd comp us either way. I said I had to check with my friend. I went back to the room and my friend said she wanted to go to another hotel. I went back to the front desk person and told her we did not want to stay at the hotel for the night. The front desk person said she'd tell the manager. Another 30 minutes went by and when I called the front desk, the new front desk person said everyone had gone home and he was not aware of the situation. He did find us a nearby hotel pretty quickly but the place was definitely a step-down. The room was damp and smelled of mildew but it was now 1 am and we were tired. We went bed and left the next morning asap.

The hotel was clean and staff was friendly. It was close to restaurants and shopping in the area which made it convenient.

The hotel is very well presented and the staff was courteous and responsive. The restaurant is pricey and we are used to a complimentary breakfast at this price point but overall, the hotel is nice. The beds are firm and functional but not real plush, we made the mistake of forgetting our pillows as all of the ones furnished were way too soft. Overall, I would stay again as there were no real issues and it is conveniently located to downtown Frederick with lots of restaurants right out the door.

Hotel claims to have recently bought 100 new mattresses for all of their room, but they changed to extremely firm mattresses with platform beds and no box springs. Needless to say, this combination made it more comfortable to lay on the floor than on the concrete slab of a bed. Ended up being stuck there for 2 nights, the second night I used the chair cushion, most of the pillows and towels to shove under the mattress to give it enough spring to at least sleep the second night on a still firm, but at least semi-comfortable bed. Until they bring back bed springs or add a 8 memory foam top, I would not recommend staying here unless you like sleeping on a bed that is harder than sleeping on the floor. Wifi was slow (complimentary at least), and the room-service and breakfast were above average price (cheaper to go to one of the dozens of restaurants within 5 minute drive of the restaurant).

The hotel was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great. It was near the highway.

This hotel was OK. Not terrible, but not worth the money in my opinion. We could have stayed at a less expensive hotel with the same level of comfort and cleanliness, but it would have included breakfast. This one charged for a breakfast that was no better than a continental breakfast. When we checked in, they did not tell us or have any sort signs up indicating that breakfast was not included in our stay. After getting breakfast the next morning at the continental-looking buffet, we were unexpectedly given a check charging us for the food. The room cleanliness was good- what I would expect. The beds were a little hard and the pillows were flat and/or hard. The hotel had clearly been redecorated and updated. The aesthetics were very nice. The staff was courteous and polite, which was probably the highlight of this hotel. Overall, we will not be back at a Hilton Garden Inn- the extra cost is not worth it.

We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Frederick while in town for a wedding. The location is what it is -- an industrial park with massive malls and a long series of chain hotels. Given the completely soulless environs, the hotel was a breath of fresh air. Look: It's newly renovated, and the decor is Ikea modern. Bright colours, not the barfy pinks and browns of many chain hotels. Room: Spotlessly clean, comfortable bed and really nice linens. Free WiFi. We asked for a quiet room and got it. Decor is understated, modern, comfortable. Great shower, with good water pressure and the kind of shower curtain that curves out so it doesn't stick to you. Hair dryer, iron, and ironing board in the room. Also in the room: empty mini-fridge, microwave, and a coffee machine with capsules and cream. The room was really an oasis for us. Breakfast: Cost $10.95 per person, included a buffet with yoghurt, warm oatmeal and fixin's, fresh fruit, pastries, etc., and a cook who prepared eggs, omelets, pancakes and french toast to order, along with the usual potato and meat sides. We had omelets, and they were really, really good. I mean, just lovely. We didn't need breakfast every day, so for us it was a better deal to pay for a good breakfast when we wanted to than to pay more for the room and have a mediocre free breakfast. (I seriously said to my husband at one point that if i lived in town I would come there for the omelets.) Amenities: We peeked in at the pool and exercise room, but didn't use them. Pool very small, more for getting wet than swimming. We did use the coin-operated laundry room on the first floor, where they also sell detergent. Service: Staff were exceedingly helpful and cheerful. Requests for things like scissors or bandaids were fulfilled immediately. Overall a pleasure. In short: Excellent value, one of the better chain hotel experiences I've had, and I would stay there again immediately.

The room was standard. Our stay was for 2 nights. Arrived Thursday and on Friday they did no clean our room. When we complained after arriving around 4:30 PM the housekeeping staff was gone. They did send someone up with clean towels and clean sheets. We were not about to change the bedding. We went out and returned around 9:PM and our room was still not made up for the night. There was always a smell of food permeating the hotel.

Just what you expect from a Hilton. Room is very comfortable. Staff was very helpful. Would stay here again in a minute.

I worked a project and I liked the small atmostphere and cozy setting. The food at the Great American Grill was good and the complimentary fruit, cookies and water, coffee, hot chocolate and tea were a plus. The room was clean and comfortable and the free WI-Fi came in handy while teleworking during the snowstorm.

This hotel is really very nice. Friendly, relaxed lobby and restaurant. The beds are very nice. They have the air-comfort beds that you can adjust to your preference. The curtains close to make the room very dark. Nice for sleeping. Close to good restaurants, easy access to Interstates 270 and 70. Overall very pleased with the hotel.

The only thing lacking at this hotel was a complimentary breakfast. Room was large and equiped with a microwave and a fridge. Loved the curtains you could pull up just one and have light come in but no one could see in. Lots of pillows. Staff was very friendly. Would stay here again if we needed to go back to Frederick.

Excellent

Nice enough that we shot a documentary interview right there in the hotel room. Average business hotel that makes you feel ok you spent a little more and stayed a little farther out. Close to lots of food, but most of them close up early.

No problem checking in early. Nice room.

It was great.

We stayed over a holiday (Memorial Day weekend) and the service was great.Friendly staff, beautiful hotel and the breakfast buffet for $9.95 was definitely worth it. The Chef is a great, fast, funny and delicious made to order dishes.

The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly. Great location near shopping and restraurants. Loved the self-controlled matress and the cozy comforter. The pool was small and needed to be cleaned. Also the jacuzzi needed cleaning. There was no complimentary breakfast. Cookies and fruit and coffee were available. The lobby was very comfortable.

The hotel was very busy with a few groups in house. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable. We were very happy with everything.
