I stayed here this week. It is very much a business hotel & You can see it it was once quite ok. However it is now in need of an upgrade. I don’t like bath showers with smelly curtains and that’s what I got. The room was ok for a one or 2 night business trip stop over but 3 star max. If this is their target market then I suppose it’s ok.
Our family (4 persons) sleeps 2 nights in this very nice hotel. Service is friendly, rooms are very clean and for breakfast you have a very big choice of what you like to eat. Only negatif point is the noice early in the morning. It 's good situated in the middle of the town.
We visited the hotel as part of a package including a visit to the Legoland nearby. We got a nice room with a separate bed for the kid, enjoyed some time at the pool and have a good meal at the hotel restaurant. Comfortable and clean place, helpful staff, albeit a little outdated.
Stayed at this hotel recently with family. Good location. It's a short walk to the town centre. Staff encountered were friendly. The hotel was clean but old fashioned. Rooms were comfortable but very basic and in need of updating. Hotel in need of a major refurbishment to bring it up to standard. Didn't use the swimming pool but there is a charge for the sauna? Ridiculous!
Maybe the 4th time we've guested this hotel because it is central to a cultural experience we attend almost yearly. The upper floors are quieter if you need to have the window or terrace door open. Solidly built, we've never experienced noise from neighbors. Spacious double rooms with lots of closet space. The breakfast is worth the extra charge.
Stayed for 1 night in this high rise hotel on the 13th Floor with fantastic view over the town of Gelsenkirchen. The room was well furnished with all mod com - the restaurant was first class and an added bonus was the Jazz Club located in a bar which had discounted prices for hotel guests hence I managed to hear an old favorite of mine- the Dutch Swing College Jazz Band and what a treat that was.
Receptionist was unkind and not helpful. We arrived with 3 kids, stroller etc. We had stairs to climb although it said it was accessible for disabled people! No indication how. The room was under the (poorly insulated ) roof and had no airco. It was too hot so our baby didn't sleep. The accommodation was outdated and dirty. Internet impossible to access. The TV was good. The breakfast was quite good and personnel in the restaurant was good. We asked for pen and paper for the kids, they clearly didn't have anything for them but tried their best to get us paper and blackboard pencils, nice. All together. This is a ok hotel for a night as a businessman if you have internet provided. Absolutely not recommended with children. Finally, the surroundings and view were excellent too bad for the very outdated hotel!
Stayed here for a concert at Veltins Arena. Bed was not comfortable but other amenities were reasonable. We ate at the restaurant in the lobby and we enjoyed the Schnitzel. The hotel bar was very busy late at night after the concert and was the only place around to get a snack and coffee. All the staff were very helpful.
Stayed here a few times now. I think the last time will be my last. If you don't have breakfast included they will charge you about €15. The hotel was built in the 1970's and seems like it hasn't been updated since... It is very old fashioned and in need of being refurbished. I stayed in the recent heatwave - no aircon. It was unbearable. I will stay in the Courtyard Marriott from now on - a little out of the centre but more modern. The bar is the only decent part of this hotel I'm sorry to report
Stayed here on a business trip and enjoyed my stay. The rooms were big enough, clean and the breakfast selection was decent enough. The location is good since the centre as well as the train station can be reached by foot in a few minutes. The hotel would need some updating though as both the lobby as well as the rooms look too stuck in the 1980s - definitely needs a refreshment there. Also, the cleaning leadies should clean the balconies as well as I found dozens of cigarette butts there within the holes of the balcony.
