We stayed for 1 night whilst visiting visiting family, we arrived from london and had a couple of hours to eat and relax before meeting We arrived and were offered to join a plan for 20% off food during our stay. We went to the bar to order and the server didn't know what the offer was or what she had to do (surely if your offering customers a discount package you should tell staff about it?!) We order food, which seemed to take quite a while considering there were only 3 other tables sat in he bar (none of which seemed to be ordering or waiting for food) My husband started eating the fish and chip, and when he made it to the larger part of the fish he thought it was a bit chewy and didn't taste right, when he pulled back the batter the fish was uncooked I took to the bar and before I said anything the waitress commented that the fish wasn't cooked and took it to the kitchen Luckily I hadn't had this as being 6 months pregnant it would have been concerning A few minutes later the same server came out and asked if he was happy with same again, he said no and would prefer the chicken curry. She then came back out and said the curry would take 10 min and the fish would be ready in 3 minutes - we queried how and she said "they have a special oven" As we were short of time we said fine, I asked if that was it they weren't even going to escalate the matter. A "manager" came over and apologised for our "undercooked" fish and would we like a complementary drink (we were drinking water) or a dessert The fish eventually came out after close to 10 mins! When we first got to our room we had an empty toilet roll and another which was very nearly finished.. I know hotels like to look after the environment so maybe this is a new tactic Luckily there was a trolley in the corridor so we took a couple of rolls Over all - not impressed will pay more and stay somewhere better next time
Right next door to Edinburgh zoo, check in fast and efficient, room on 5th floor good. Food in restaurant good, staff went above and beyond to make sure you had all you needed and were very friendly, also gave a few pointers of where to visit! 10 minutes from Edinburgh city by bus (£4 all day on bus number 12, 26 or 31) would definitely go back!
This is a relatively expensive hotel given the standard of facilities and breakfast service. The hotel is scruffy with the main entrance resembling a service entrance. Breakfast service was a scrum with a small buffet area in proportion to the number of guest queuing in the morning. The only highlight of my two night stay was the staff who were lovely.
We stayed with 2 young children and the location and he staff were nothing short of brilliant. They look after you for any request and are very caring for children. The rooms were very clean and tidy, and the location was fantastic with a bus stop directly in front of the hotel which was only a 15 minute bus ride into the city centre. We would highly recommended this hotel to any one!
Good clean room and as much self serve breakfast as one could eat. Friendly staff. Nice but busy breakfast. No evening meal but plenty of restaurants nearby. Good Italian and good Indian. Taxi can stop right at the door
Nice room and helpful staff. Good restaurant with many options for food and drink. Bus line at the end of the hill. Next door to the zoo though we didn't visit. A short walk to supermarket and small business restaurants.
Nice hotel near to airport , swimming pool , gym, spa, sauna facilities excellent Good breakfast options for everyone ! Large parking space , lot of Indian families staying , lot of tour travel reside Very comfortable rooms
Stayed at this hotel many off times, and I would class it in my top 10 of holiday inns I have stayed in. But I went down to dinner a 7pm and was told the restaurant was full until 9, so I went to the Chinese restaurant across the road, which was very good and price good. Was back at 8pm and still not many in the restaurant , so not really busy, but did me favour by pushing me somewhere else. This will not stop me staying here as overall very good
Good location for the Zoo! Some rooms even have a view of the Monkey enclosures! Excellent conferencing facilities and the bedrooms were of an excellent standard. I did not eat in the restaurant and went for a Chinese over the road, but could not fault the buffet breakfast.
So, I stay here frequently so have summarised a number of visits and collective thoughts: Location: Near zoo, on main route into City and to Airport (but not noisy) Staff: Excellent, very attentive and always helpful Breakfast: Reasonable selection, but always busy (it's a big hotel) Bar Area: Nice enough Evening restaurant: Limited menu, but a cracking Chinese restaurant opposite Rooms: OK, some better than others, fine for a night or two - but you wouldn't brag to your friends you spent a week in luxury there! Noise: not a huge amount, apart from the animal chorus at 6am (or earlier) from the zoo next door - now this isn't a negative, just different! Who else has an alarm call from chimps, gibbons (or whatever beast is making those strange noises)! Just different. Overall, not bad for a few nights in a great city.
