The first time we stayed here. We were in the old wing. Room adequate, toilet did not flush probably. We didn’t say anything until we were checking out as we thought oh it is an old hotel and things are the way they are. Bathroom light went out on last day upon telling Elaine of our problems. She made sure that next time we stayed we were in the newer wing what a difference like night and day. Elaine was very knowledgeable and helped us tremendously. Couldn’t find a more helpful person. Food was good.
I stayed here while in Dublin for business. The location is fantastic with a fabulous beach across the road. A nice long walk on the beach was just perfect after a day in the office. Very friendly welcome on arrival. Room was spotless clean with very comfortable bed. Bathroom is a bit tired and could do with an update. Food in the oasis bar was lovely with a view out to the sea beyond. Service was efficient and friendly. Check out Waze quick and the receptionist so friendly. All the staff I met over the course of my stay were great and will be the reason I will return.
We stayed at this hotel twice first when we arrived in Dublin and the second time when we were leaving. The hotel is close and easy to get to and from Dublin Airport. It also on very good bus route service to downtown Dublin. First time we booked via Booking.com three nights and the room was not very nice. The second booking we made at the hotel and we assigned a very nice room. The included breakfast was very good in terms of variety, quality and service. The bar lounge in the hotel was good. Front reception at hotel (Elaine) was very helpful.
Reception and other staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great location across from The ocean. The room was tiny and the view would be great if the window was larger. The location to the airport was the reason we stayed for an early departure. But it is tired and dated and attempts at modernising are like putting lipstick on a pig. The toilet required tinkering to get it to flush. Soap was provided fro. Squeeze dispensers attached to walls. The room has view but we closed the window to avoid traffic noise. The restaurant was the best we ate in on our ten day trip around Ireland. The sunrise was lovely but the windows restricted the view
I stayed here recently with my husband for one night. The room was lovely with views of Portmarnock beach. The breakfast was very plentiful. Staff were all very nice. I would recommend this hotel for a weekend break.
Living in Dublin, we wouldn't usually choose to eat at a hotel - but I'm so happy we did! The quality of the food is impressive for both tourists and locals, and the view is second to none. You can taste the freshness of each dish within the first bite, and the menu caters to all tastes from what we saw. Highly recommend a visit!
We regularly visit Dublin and this was our first stay in Portmarnock and will not be our last. We found the White Sands to be very comfortable and all the staff very pleasant. Our rooms were very large and very clean the breakfast was good for 10 euro and our only disappointments were that there was no live music on Sunday night dispite being assured by reception that the music would be on in the bar from 9 O'clock plus some areas of the hotel were a bit tired and in need attention. With a wonderful beach and sea views on the doorstep plus regular bus service we will definitely stay again and hopefully get to see some live music.
This hotel may be older but is in a prime location, clean and quiet. The food for a full Irish breakfast was 10 Euro but again totally convenient and worth it. And the pub for supper was also fantastic! From this location it was easy to take our rental car slightly north to Malahide Castle (maybe a 15 minute ride) or down to Howth (about 15 minutes). There is a bus stop right close by too but we opted for a taxi to get to downtown Dublin. The bed seemed a little bit hard to my own liking but all of the positives far outweighed anything negative, Over-all great staff, food and location.
Nice hotel, great location, bar men with a beard very rude refused to serve me a drink at 11:20 saying the bar was closed, I then seen him serving many others who appeared to be locals. Not nice and made us feel very unwelcome. Won’t return again.
This is our second night here and it was great again. Got great value for a Saturday night. Right on the lovely sandy beach. Room was just perfect, clean, and best nights sleep I’ve had in ages. All you could eat breakfast and a great selection. Had dinner in the bar and again food was excellent and it was just a comfortable spacious place to relax, eat and drink! Best of all the staff were very friendly and all had a smile and a hello for you, seems like people who are happy in their work! Can’t wait to come back again and will soon!!!!
