Clayton Hotel Burlington Road4.0 out of 5.0

I stayed at this Clayton for one night on business. It’s a massive hotel with reasonable facilities but beneath the veneer is really very tired. What’s good: - rooms are adequately sized - plenty of bar space - location isn’t central but neither is it too bad What’s not: - shower really didn’t do the job. Fluctuated from scalding to freezing with terrible water pressure. This is a cardinal sin in my book for a hotel and takes my rating down from what would otherwise be 3* to 2*. - rooms quite tired under the surface. - no aircon. Took me ages to work out that the only way to warm my room up was to turn on the ineffectual radiator that was hidden behind the curtains. - breakfast was adequate but uninspiring - only 2 lifts for 400+ rooms! Good job it wasn’t very busy. Having said all that, it was half the price of the nearby Hilton so probably represents of value for money. Will stay at the Hilton next time, though.
I chose to stay at this hotel because of its high reviews, however, my experience particularly, with the front desk was negative. I would say this hotel gives the facade of premium but with all low quality which shows in the details and the staff. Firstly, we were placed in a room above the hotel’s bar which was very noisy plus there was a constant whistling sound coming from the toilet. Therefore, after one night of this we asked to change rooms. We were made to wait all day before we received a room change. At about 4pm I called to enquire and the young woman that answered the phone was very rude as if they were being inconvenienced. Today, I requested a local call and was told to come back because it was a busy check in time, yet there was no one waiting to be checked in. How ridiculous!! I recommend the front desk staff are provided a refresher training in customer service. Otherwise, the beds are comfortable and room amenities are overall decent. I stayed in other hotels in Dublin and there are many with much better service at a similar price point.
Very friendly and helpful staff. All staff were very accommodating and delivered their service with a smile. Well done on Customer Care!!! Room Service very good as well as meals in bar. Taxi stop right outside the hotel too. Room was very nice and spacious. Pillows for sleeping on could be improved in terms of firmness, but over all very impressed with this hotel. I shall be back.
Was on a pleasure trip with family and did an overnight at the hotel before continuing our journey. Everything about the stay was satisfactory, from the front counter staff to the pleasant and well appointment room, as well as the tasty food and service at the restaurant.
Just home from a wonderful stay at this fantastic hotel. From check in to check out it was great. Comfy spacious modern rooms. Food was terrific a decent sized and well equipped gym. Will definitely be back.
Here on a business trip and to be honest the hotel at best is average. The lobby is large and expansive and looks good. the coffee area on the left is nice and the bar on the right looks impressive. Other than that the rest of the hotel is average and needs updating. The room was spacious but the layout didn't work and the furniture needed updating. A mini bar with nothing in it. Bathroom towels too small, im not a large guy but the bath towel was pretty small. Bed was comfy enough. i was at the front of the hotel on the 4th floor and the room was in a quiet position away from any through traffic and away from the lifts which was nice but the road noise even at night was high, windows need improving. There was a oil radiator for me to plug in to heat up the room. My first night there was no hot water and the some of the bathroom ware was broken and ill fitting. The following morning the hot water was back but the water dribbled out the shower. I visited the gym. Typical of an older style hotel very limited equipment. Treadmills and bikes where good and pretty modern but rest of the equipment was poor and for such a huge hotel the gym was miniscule. I visited twice and on both occasions the gym was full with almost everything in use. Probably wont return unless my company insist on me using the same hotel.
Stayed at the hotel for work and found the staff to be professional and very helpful, without exception. Check in was prompt and transfer to my room simple. The room was clean and well prepared, and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast service was efficient and attentive, and the buffet selection was fine, although some variety would be preferred on a day-to-day basis. Overall a well managed and welcoming hotel that we'd be happy to return to.
We had to stay in Dublin for one night completely unplanned and we booked the Clayton the day of our stay. It was very much better value than the usual suspects. The last time I stayed at this property it was 'the Burlington'. At that time it was run into the ground and I remember the mirror crashing off the wall when I opened the door. However, it is since then under the Clayton brand and it is obvious that they spent a fortune on the place turning it around. The check in staff were very professional and helpful. We checked in early and attempted to drop our bags but the concierge was AWOL. We waited 30 minutes and he never appeared at his desk. We then abandoned this plan and decided to have something to eat at the cafe in the lobby. My wife was met by a grumpy girl who barked back 'Why do you want it' when asked for a menu! Customer service at it's highest. She then said there was no food until after midday. We were quite hungry so I went back up and asked the younger girl about food while grumpy was away and she was about to hand me the menu when grumps returned and barked at her not to give out a food menu. In the end, I was able to order some toasted sandwiches but it took an hour for them to arrive!!! The rooms were fresh and modern, wifi good, beds good. Parking was very scarce so it was always tight to get a space. We ate that evening in the sports bar. We were tired after a long trip and we didn't expect much after our experience in the coffee place. But we were wrong. The young chirpy English waitress was excellent. The food quality was top notch. The Guinness was excellent. Breakfast was the usual affair, but all good. Overall, the place was good. Two things for management to consider is the concierge service needs to be attended during check-in/check-out peak times and also the madam in the coffee shop needs a bit of customer service training. With a few tweaks this place could be the place to stay again in Dublin like it was during the great days of the old Burlington.
The hotel was clean, beds were very comfy, breakfast was good. The hotel was a bit far away but still within walking distance. I would recommend this hotel but probably not for people who don't want to walk anywhere.
Visited Dublin with my partner for our anniversary and had a brilliant time, thanks to the Clayton Hotel. We arrived at the hotel around 10AM and were able to check in early, I had requested this and they were able to assist with no problems. I also advised them that we were visiting for our anniversary and they actually gave us glasses of champagne and a chocolate pudding (which was divine), which was a brilliant touch. The room was spacious and very clean and the TV had a great selection of channels, including Sky Sports which was an added bonus! The hotel is a little out of the way for the main attractions in Dublin, however there is many taxis outside and a bus stop just across from the hotel so we had no issues getting to and from places. Thank you Clayton Hotel for making our anniversary so memorable!
