Stayed at this hotel a second time and it did not disappoint. Nice comfy bed, plush carpeting. It has a great location. The staff has gone above and beyond to help us, foreigners. The breakfast options were great.
I cannot thank the staff at Hotel St George enough. They made our 3 night stay amazing, This is a 3 star hotel that punches way above its rating. Located very centrally to access all museums and sights, it is clean, quiet and exactly what we needed for our short trip. I emailed the manageress Stephanie ahead of our trip, to request a room on an upper level, and explained it was our first Valentine's Day and that it was our first visit to Dublin. Lovely room on the 5th floor (503). Friendly, helpful and professional staff throughout. On Valentine's Day we were out most of the day and evening. On our return, the room had been decorated with rose petals, a heart shape on the bed complete with a red rose, bottle of wine and chocolates. So special, thank you very much Stephanie. There is a lovely grand reception/bar area. The bar is open to residents until 5am should you desire. A full Irish breakfast is available at a very reasonable price. Bar prices not excessive either. The hop on hop off bus tour of Dublin stops right outside. Would recommend the green line tour. Back to the hotel. I would recommend an upper level room just because the hotel is located at the top of O'Connell Street and subject to a small degree of traffic noise. I don't think you could find a better hotel (especially for cleanliness) at a better price, with such friendly service. Just a small note, the bathroom fixings were a little askew, could do with a slight adjustment with a screwdriver, but so minor. This is a seriously good hotel.
Can not rate this place highly enough from the moment we walked in till we left. Kept our bags as we arrived early so we could head out and about. The room was brilliant. Nice and cosy and everything so clean and spotless. Had all the essentials and more, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, wifi, shower gel and creams, coffee machine, plenty of towels etc Bathroom and shower looked brand new it was so clean. Residents bar open to 5AM so even had a few pints of the black stuff before bed that night after a few more down the town. Offered to keep our bags on departure also. 100% would recommend it to anyone, for the price you couldn't beat it with a big stick.
I booked 2 nights here for my husbands Christmas present. We visited Dublin in 1988, his Grandad lived a few miles outside of Dublin and we visited for the day all those years ago. Lovely hotel, friendly staff, room was clean and comfortable. Near to the hop on hop off bus and walking tour (by the spire) Fantastic breakfast, never had smoked salmon and cream cheese offered before, usually its just a fry up! Would recommend to anybody visiting Dublin
Me and my friends visited for 2 nights for my Hen party. Where do I start? We booked 2 family rooms and an apartment. First of all my confirmation said a 2pm check in. We all had plans and made arrangements in town which we were late for. We got told the apartment was 4pm check in, not 2pm as stated on my email and to top it off one of the rooms was not ready until 3pm so all the lasses had to get ready and do their hair and make up in the lobby . The apartment was also a good 10minutes walk up the road away from the hotel so we were away from everyone else which ok we dealt with... When we arrived we had no water in the kitchen and the pressure in the shower was basically none existent which made it impossible for us to get ready on time, so we were denied basic hygiene. The apartment should have not been rented out like that. We reported the problem and they sent maintenance up while we were out the next morning and they did offer us a 25% discount on the first night. However when we arrived back after being told it was fixed... surprise surprise still nothing .... we did not have time to report that night because we were in a rush to go out ! So yet again we were late going out because we could not shower !! On the Sunday (day we were leaving) we reported this again to be told there was no manager in !! This is appalling, as if there is no manager to deal with customers. May I also add that the manager is new and he stated they have had no manager since September last year ! I said our problems to be told we could not have more money back due to the manager having to authorise it, but where was he ?!! The receptionist give me his card and said she sent him a email to ring me up this morning to deal with the problem and find a solution . And guess what.... did he ring ? No!! So I have sat at home off work today waiting for a phone call . Thought I would give them a chance before I wrote on here. Absolutely disgusted by how this has been handled and I would never ever stay there again or for once even recommend it. A shame because the hotel itself looked nice, but they obviously do not care about the customers . Thanks for wasting all of our time in Dublin and making the weekend bad for us . Getting out of this spot was the best part of the stay. Nadia Reed
I shall start with the cons, as this is a very short list. If I am being picky, which I am, there were the usual maintenance issues. These were minor such as needing a lick of paint, a slightly loose tap and the curtain coming off of its hooks. There was noise that came through from the room next door so ear plugs are a must if you have noisy neighbours and are a light sleeper. Lastly a couple of flannels were taken for cleaning, but not replaced. That was about it and I can now wax lyrical on what an amazing place to stay this is. The staff are friendly and helpful. They held our luggage securely until check in time and helped us sort a tour issue we had. More helpful than the tourist info itself. The room had a lot of character and the tea and coffee facilities were over and above (please never change this, it was lovely). They had plenty of fluffy towels, the bed was comfy and everything gave off the impression that a lot of thought had gone into the room. The room was clean and while there was plenty of furnishings, it was not crowded. I regret only that we did not have breakfast until the last day, as this was absolutely lovely and better value than many of the places we tried on the main street. For a place that is value for money, very pleasant, and close enough to walk to everything I have yet to come across somewhere better. Thank you for the lovely stay and I hope I get another chance.
We stayed for 3 nights whilst in Dublin. Great Price for a city centre location. Staff were very friendly (24hr reception) bus stop directly outside hotel. Rooms were nice and clean. Bathrooms are a bit outdated compared with the rooms but clean and sufficient. The rooms have a kettle and pod coffee machine, as well as a small table top ironing board and iron, which was good. Rooms are cleaned on a daily basis. My only downfall for the hotel during our stay was we came back to our room later on at night and the window had been left wide open by the cleaner, i wouldn't leave valubles in the room however if i close the window prior to going out, i would expect it to be closed when i return. I would stay here again whilst in Dublin.
Very welcoming staff. Great bathroom with lovely towels and a good shower. The bed however was extremely uncomfortable and small. The double room was really not big enough for two. Luckily enough I was on my own. It feels like the pictures are not telling the true story...
I had a fantastic stay here...the hotel is just beautiful and the staff is so welcoming and helpful! I had a lovely room overlooking the main street, the bed was so comfortable and so many towels were provided (a rarity). There was an excellent coffee/tea machine in the room and the free wifi worked perfectly. One of the things I greatly appreciated: I smoke and the staff told me about a rear exit to use (so I didn't have to go through the lobby in the early morning)...so very thoughtful! Since it was Christmastime, the hotel was decorated and it looked lovely, there was also a nice bar in the lobby for drinks and ice...with very comfortable seating. The location is superb...two minutes to O'Connell Street and the airport bus and tour buses stop outside the hotel front door. I found this hotel "by accident" and I am so glad I did...it is wonderful! It was great and I will definitely stay here again when in Dublin. I also must mention a specific staff member who went out of his way to make my stay pleasurable and fun: Mario. I had some great conversations with him and he provided some wonderful tips and banter....great representative of the hotel!
Definitely far more dated and worn than the photos would lead you to believe. However, for the price and the proximity to all the things a tourist would like to see, it was great. Look past the worn carpet and dingey bits here and there and you will like it. Breakfast downstairs was good and cheaper than what you would get outside. Bus stops right out front, and helpful staff.
