We enjoyed being to walk to anything we needed. We had a car because we were venturing to the west coast on this vacation. But if you’re staying only in Dublin, you won’t need a car here.

They put us in an “apartment” which was not near the hotel. It was dirty and had lots of street noise. Also no night life nearby. Long walk to pubs. Sweet part of town. Would not recommend.

Stayed two nights. Clean room. Good value. Close to main area of town with lots of restaurants and bars. No free breakfast.

I can't honestly rate this hotel because they stuck me in someone's flat a a 5 minute walk up the street and 3 flights up. Not really what I was expecting for a 100€ a night. The staff on sight was pleasant but young and not well trained. The young bloke who walked me up the street didn't even have the sense to offer to carry an old man's bag, and didn't have a clue as to operating anything in the flat. So if you actually stay in this hotel, I'd be interested in your comments. But I'm not likely to be back.

A converted Georgian townhouse that's well-located in Dublin, St. George Hotel is a good option for a quick getaway. It's located north of the Liffey so you're not right in the center of action of Temple Bar or Trinity College, but I think it's a good thing. It's approximately a 15-minute walk to the main touristy areas. It's charmingly old-fashioned -- you have to leave keys at reception when you leave-- with a superb staff. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and very accessible. There are no frills (i.e., fancy toiletries, 100+ cable channels, Egyptian cotton bedsheets, etc..), but it's a good and reasonably-priced option for Dublin.
