Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center

This was my 10th stay at the Marriott Detroit at the Renaissance Center. It is the best location in downtown area. If the weather isn't ideal, there are plenty of amenities and dining in the Ren Cen and nearby. I would stay here again!

I booked a room with 2 double beds for 2 adults and 2 kids. When I got there I was told it was only a request and they only had king rooms. They said our room had a couch and would bring a roll away. Our room did not have a couch. They then moved us to some type of room with a Murphy bed and a pull out couch, however, the beds did not have sheets. When I called to request sheets, I was told it would take at least 2 hours (after all of this, it was now almost 9pm). I offered to come get them myself, but was told no. Went to the front desk 2 more times and after 1.5 hours finally got linens. The view from the room is nice but in the winter it makes the room very cold, and our heat would not go above 67 degrees. My kids ended up sleeping with winter hats. The whole stay was a mess and when I spoke to the manager he didn’t apologize, just said they were short staffed. I will not stay there again and will make sure to tell everyone about my experience there.

I had booked my stay as an early extension for my stay over the July 4th weekend. I arrived at the hotel and was told by the assistant manager that the hotel had been over booked and I would be moved to a different hotel. The whole reason I booked this night was so I didn't have to move my things while staying in Detroit. I was given a letter to hand to the front desk at the other hotel and pointed in the direction of the Taxi's outside. I was not given cab far, I was not given any other direction other than, you can't stay here, even though I had a CONFIRMED reservation. I paid my $15 cab far to the next hotel with my 15 year old daughter and off we went. The hotel we moved to was half a mile away, farther from the Cabo center where we had to be at 7AM the following day and now I had to worry about getting both mine and my daughters stuff BACK to the hotel I had booked to begin with. Living in Los Angeles, this means I Had to get up at 3:00AM my timei to get there on time. I was told by the desk that if I was not out of my room the following day by 11:00AM I would be charged another night. I DIDN"T EVEN WANT TO BE THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE. Now I am threatened by this hotel to be charged another $399 if I am not out. By the time we were settled in, our only option was room service. Two burgers, one beer (i needed this after this cluster I just went through) and a Pepsi.......$65. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL if at all possible. Who knows if you will stay there.

The staff was very hospitable, helpful and friendly.

My room overlooked the river separating the US and Canada. Everyday we looked at the beautiful GM cars on display, had lots of food choices, and enjoyed a very friendly and helpful staff. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else.

Staying at this hotel felt like a 5-star experience.

This is a no frills hotel aimed at business and convention travelers. We stayed one night, in order to be close to downtown. It's not a hotel I would choose to return to; very few amenities were offered. Staff members were extremely pleasant, professional and accommodating, which was the one mitigating factor for the overall experience.

I enjoyed my stay very much. From the staff to the hotel location, it couldn't be better over looking downtown Detroit and Windsor Canada from my room it was magical.

I have stayed here many times. It is a great location for events in downtown Detroit. I have only stayed at a different hotel once, due to room availability. You get what you pay for here. Still my favorite place to stay in the D.

This was our first time staying here. We have stayed at most of the other hotels in this area of Detroit. The hotel itself was lovely. The room had an amazing view. I've had cleaner rooms however there was nothing unsanitary just dusty. The staff were very nice. The big issue we had was with the convention of high school students going on. it took us 1.5 hours to get up to our room after the Red Wings game. Security should have been available to handle the elevator traffic so guests could go up and down in an orderly timely fashion.

had a very nice time great dinning and bar great for couples and buisinessmen

Our room had a stunning view of Detroit and Windsor. The bed was extremely comfortable with first class bedding. We had room service for dinner that was delicious and delivered timely by a friendly staff member.

We had a river front room and it was a great view. Room was clean and quiet. Comfortable bed.

They lost my keys in valet . I paid extra for a king and called that morning of the day we were staying and check in and they told me that my room was on hold for me and that was a lie. They gave me a double bed and me and my wife slept horrible

A enjoyable expericence from start to finish. Everything I would expect.
