Visit started with airport shuttle driver, friendly as she gave us ALL the low-down on Des Moines and it history/sights. Hotel staff welcoming and helpful. Only disappointment was no free continental breakfast. Benigans on site. Thanks for comfortable night.

I honestly felt as if I walked straight into the pictures from the internet. Everything was nice and clean. If I had to have a complaint it would be the the gal at the front desk wasn't the nicest in the world, but not a big deal. It was great having a restaurant connected to the hotel. Loved staying there and will again next year.

We stayed here during a family roadtrip as a half-way stop in our route. The decor is nice and seems as though it may have been renovated fairly recently. The rooms were very comfortable and have plenty of space. I was pleased to have a mini-fridge and microwave in our room. Shower was good, plenty of pressure and hot water. Pool area is HUGE. The pool was too cold for me to enjoy, but I did like the hot tub. Loved the Bennigans that is attached. Great service there, really attentive manager and bar staff. I had a quick beer at the bar while waiting for an order of hot wings that I took back to the room. Food was very good. Hotel does not include breakfast like the HI Express does which was a disappointment to me - until I found out from the front desk clerk checking us in that they would give us coupons for free breakfast for the kids. My husband and the boys enjoyed the breakfast a lot, and I was glad they provided this. There is a grassy area and it is close to a residential area so I was able to do a nice walk with our dog. Since we were traveling with a pet they had us on the first floor which also made it convenient for taking her outside. They do request when entering and exiting with pets you use the side door rather than the front enterance. Pet fee was only $20.00 which is very reasonable compared to many other properties (I was quoted $100.00 at another nearby property!!!). I was very pleased with my stay overall.

Staying there was simple and hassle-free - was able to check in early, room was great. I had no complaints - I did not take any real advantage of any amenities beyond free wifi.

Really needed upgrading! Everyone was nice but the place was in rough shape!

This hotel is located right off the highway, so that's good. I was surprised it cost a little more than the newer Holiday Inn Express locations though. This place made me feel like I was a kid back in the 1980's when we would go to baseball card shows in hotels my parents couldn't afford. The only problem today is - the place still has that 1980's vibe. The roof was leaking in our room and we were not on the top floor. The staff was quite nice which is a plus! Also, the Bennigans staff really sucked!

Nice indoor pool. Relaxed and nice view. Nice reataraunt inside the hotel.

Well the decor is well dated... and it follows into the rooms. The room itself was a little smelly, found out that the room was not cleaned all the way by the evident take out food left from the previous guest behind the curtain. Bath tube had looked it had been patched up a few times by the hit and cold handle... which the hit and cold did not work properly. AC doesnt work was trying to cool the room down from 80 to 72 instead the heater kept blowing. Had to turn off the hvac to get some relief. Had to check out early but the staff stated that the extraday would not be refunded due to me prepayment. Will not stay at this location again and would not recommend anyone to stay there as well.

Overall, the staff were quite friendly. My room was clean, although it was in need of repairs - several places at the base of the wall were quite beat up and the door had a solid 1/2" gap between it and the door frame. My biggest complaint is the smell of cigarette smoke. My floor did not have an ice machine, so I had to go up one floor to get ice. That floor had an overpowering smell of cigarette smoke. In addition, the smell was quite noticable in my bathroom (perhaps because of the air vent?), and also noticable upon entering the hotel via the front and back doors. All this despite the fact that there were signs everywhere stating that the entire hotel was smoke-free. Lastly, I was told that check-out time was noon, but I had three separate housekeeping staff knock on my door between 9:00 and 10:00 asking me if I had left yet so they could take my sheets. I finally just hung the "do not disturb" sign up. I would never stay at this location again.

Room was clean, staff was friendly. We will stay here again.

Check in was easy and staff was very friendly. Hotel decor is fresh, pool area is very nice and our Executive King room was awesome. Bed was very comfy. We returned from a Nationwide race after midnight and discovered that the shower knob was broken. Called down to the desk and maintenance repaired it within 15 minutes. Great service!

The hotel was clean and updated, but... it has been a long time since it was built, and newer hotels are more comfortable. The bathroom was remodeled, but was very small. The air conditioner was old so it was loud and would not turn off. Lots of noise from the hall because the room doors did not fit well. The bed was comfortable and clean. The staff at the desk looked very over-worked and tired. They got the job done, but appeared cold and without that welcome smile going all the way to the eyes.

Check in staff was apparently overworked, thus were unable to give that needed attention to a weary traveler. There were 3 at the desk; I selected the one who seemed more up-beat and on-top of things. The room had the smell of a masked cigarette; the carpet was ripped and patched; walls were paper thin. We selected this hotel because it had a 4-star rating. We travel alot and this was certainly substandard to that sort of rating.

You could stay elsewhere, pay more, and not get as much. The room was clean, the staff are polite, and you can walk to a Bennigans for dinner. What's not to like? The hotel offers things like a good functioning business center and free fax. I didn't use the bar, swimming pool or the laundry service so I can't comment on those.

Hotel is very modern, very well taken care of. Rooms were great, very well decorated, large flat screen t.v.s. Hotel had everything you needed. Pool and Whirlpool were wonderful. They are large and well maintained. Staff was friendly. Check in and out was very fast. It is a pet friendly hotel. Great safe parking. Safe neighborhood.

We arrived late at night, and check in went smoothly. Small parking lot in front of hotel, but more spaces behind the hotel. The one glaring problem was the elvator. We were on the 4th floor and only 1 of the 3 elevators was working. This was a bit of a pain as many people were leaving at the same time we were and we had to wait for the elevator and then when it opened up it was full of other travelers. We ended up only using the elevator for heavy suitcases and took the stairs for all other visits to the car.

The room was clean, the staff was friendly, and the stay was pretty much uneventful and quiet...just what I needed. My only complaint was that the shower faucet was difficult to operate and it seemed as though it was on the verge of breaking.

The room was clean and well maintained. The staff was very nice and this was a good deal for the money for a family of 3. We traveled with a 3 year old and needed to have a microwave and refrigerator and we were easily accommodated. The Bennigans restaurant as part of the hotel was a wonderful. The mall is within 5 minutes driving distance. We enjoyed our stay.

The rooms were very small, the bathroom too small for two people. It looked run down all over

Granny Thanks for saying all of those nice things about us. Just a note - the continental breakfast is offered by our sister hotel, Holiday Inn Express. By standard full service hotels to not have that offering. But if you ask for a breakfast inclusive package you can get a full breakfast in our restaurant for about the same as you would pay at a hotel that has continental. Thanks again Mike, GM
