I liked urban setting. Didn’t like trash by trash can from when we got there to when we left. Didn’t like rudeness of staff. Cleaning was sub par. Would think twice before staying at a Holiday Inn.

The attached ballroom was jumping when we checked in with two live band for St. Patrick's Day. The marauding tribes of little girls were riding the elevators pushing every button, so you got to stop at every floor. I am sure Holiday Inn is calculating the gross profit from renting the ballroom as a worth it in client good will lost.
We had animal droppings on the pull out bed. They were good about finding us a new room right away. However, the new room had issues with the toilet. The hotel itself seems like it needs some updates.
Visit started with airport shuttle driver, friendly as she gave us ALL the low-down on Des Moines and it history/sights. Hotel staff welcoming and helpful. Only disappointment was no free continental breakfast. Benigans on site. Thanks for comfortable night.
I honestly felt as if I walked straight into the pictures from the internet. Everything was nice and clean. If I had to have a complaint it would be the the gal at the front desk wasn't the nicest in the world, but not a big deal. It was great having a restaurant connected to the hotel. Loved staying there and will again next year.
We stayed here during a family roadtrip as a half-way stop in our route. The decor is nice and seems as though it may have been renovated fairly recently. The rooms were very comfortable and have plenty of space. I was pleased to have a mini-fridge and microwave in our room. Shower was good, plenty of pressure and hot water. Pool area is HUGE. The pool was too cold for me to enjoy, but I did like the hot tub. Loved the Bennigans that is attached. Great service there, really attentive manager and bar staff. I had a quick beer at the bar while waiting for an order of hot wings that I took back to the room. Food was very good. Hotel does not include breakfast like the HI Express does which was a disappointment to me - until I found out from the front desk clerk checking us in that they would give us coupons for free breakfast for the kids. My husband and the boys enjoyed the breakfast a lot, and I was glad they provided this. There is a grassy area and it is close to a residential area so I was able to do a nice walk with our dog. Since we were traveling with a pet they had us on the first floor which also made it convenient for taking her outside. They do request when entering and exiting with pets you use the side door rather than the front enterance. Pet fee was only $20.00 which is very reasonable compared to many other properties (I was quoted $100.00 at another nearby property!!!). I was very pleased with my stay overall.
Staying there was simple and hassle-free - was able to check in early, room was great. I had no complaints - I did not take any real advantage of any amenities beyond free wifi.

This hotel is located right off the highway, so that's good. I was surprised it cost a little more than the newer Holiday Inn Express locations though. This place made me feel like I was a kid back in the 1980's when we would go to baseball card shows in hotels my parents couldn't afford. The only problem today is - the place still has that 1980's vibe. The roof was leaking in our room and we were not on the top floor. The staff was quite nice which is a plus! Also, the Bennigans staff really sucked!
