Best Western Premier Hotel Park Consul Koeln

In principle an ok hotel. Parking facilities in basement. Fine room, but my room was facing the road and a lot of noise coming from that road. Fine and easy check in and out. Will ask for a room not facing the road if I get back.

Nice business hotel in the top right suburb of Cologne, I’ve stayed here for over 8 weeks in total this year so they must be doing something right. Rooms are large and spacious, if you are lucky you may get one of the x10 or x11 rooms above the bar which are large curved suites. Nearby: 45 minutes’ level walk ‘up’ stream to the cathedral – or €20 by taxi (all taxis in Cologne charge 20 it seems?). Easy to get around by tram and bus as well. Only a few minutes’ walk to the magnificent Rhine and a few seconds walk to the excellent Brauhaus next door. Very easy to reach off the nearby autobahn. Free parking ‘lottery’ outside – never not able to get in, we had a van so could not park under the hotel. Hotel Breakfast a silly €18 extra so only grazed this on Sundays – otherwise we breakfasted elsewhere or picked up supplies from the many Aldi and Lidl about – as well as the Huge Kaufland on the West bank (nice cafe). Mulheim area has a huge Turkish and eastern European influence, lots of shops and places to eat nearby as well as two MacDonald’s, Burger King etc. Gilden Brauhaus at the front of the hotel is excellent, Dado and his staff made myself and my team feel like family, good food, great beer and excellent wine. Best Western staff – the Martin and Saskia deserve a special mention for being efficient and helpful with our many changes and requests – as well as my post and parcels. Do go down to the city center and visit the fabulous cathedral (Dom – free entry) as well as the old town for the bars, coffee shops and restaurants plus wander the Rhine. Zoo is enormous and good value as is the next door ‘Flora’ park (free). On Sundays you can’t shop unless you drive south out to the airport (very popular) although there is a little kiosk shop and rather poor Chinese takeaway behind the hotel. I will be back in Cologne in a month or two and look forward to staying at my second home once again.

Stayed only two nights during an exhibition, so the hotel was full but the service was very good. Again the bar was good with lots of cold beer. The breakfast however was very basic for the price but there was always room. The TV service was also abit poor being an English person, must hotels now have more English speaking channels.

Room was at 35 Degree with no aircon working. Booked and paid highest room category - still we received a hot room facing the street with heavy traffic and sun all day. Aircon was not working. We went down but staff was not interested to offer another room. At check out to no surprise nobody asked if we enjoyed our stay nor was there any apology or refund for the overheated room. To the opposite my niece picked us up the last morning and had a cup of tea with us and they charged me with another 18 Euro breakfast for her cup of tea. Aweful experience - wouldn't recommend this place unless you don't care a zero customer service attitude.

First stay at this hotel: I liked the large, comfortable room. I had a good night sleep for the bed was excellent! I most enjoyed the large and soft towels in the bathroom! It's a pity that they charge 18€ for a breakfast! I cannot judge whether this price is justified but I thought that 18€ for two cups of coffee and two rolls (as I usually have) is a very firm price, even for me. As the parking space in front of the hotel was taken by the visitors of the party at the restaurant next to the hotel, I had to park in the underground park space which was also charged at 18€ for one night which is also a rather firm price.

Further from town than they'd have you believe and situated in an unattractive suburb. Overall the stay was comfortable but the rooms are a little tired and could do with a refresh. TV only German bar news channels. One of our rooms not made up properly- no clean cups or coffee provided. Prices a little high for what you get. Not overly helpful with regard to tourist information at front desk.

This is my second time staying in this hotel and both times it was very enjoyable. The hotel has a great fitness room with a sauna. The restaurant is very good and the breakfast is fantastic with a very wide range of choices. I also tried the restaurant next door which was very good as well. The room was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. I highly recommend staying here!

Every aspect was simply as good as could be: warm and quick welcome, nice, quiet and comfortable room. Has all simple comfort of all you need: place to work, good bed, good and large bathroom. Breakfast as well is at very good standards. Only pain was that I was staying on first floor, above hotel sign, which is quite strong and woke me up earlier than planned and before daylight.

Stayed at this hotel in mid December. Staff couldn't have been any friendlier. A massive +. Room was clean. Carpet outside bathroom could do with some attention though. One of the electrical points in room 317 needed attention. Form a H&S perspective and given the fact the issue was pointed out on 2 occasions to reception, I do hope this issue was resolved. I found the location of the hotel to be quite acceptable given its price range. It's within a 5 minute walk to the metro which is extremely regular. 15 minutes and you are in the center of Cologne. Having reviewed other comments regarding this hotel I found some of the comments to be unfair. Some people need to get over them selves. So with that said, for those of us born with a silver spoon in our moths. Perhaps this isn't the hotel for you. For the average Joe, it's a pleasant location to base yourself to visit Cologne. Happy holidays people.

We booked this on a one night stop to Cologne for the Christmas markets. From the ebookers website we were led to believe that the hotel was 3.01 miles from the cathedral - this is rubbish, it is actually more than double this and had we known we would not have booked. It's a few minutes walk to the very regular tram - past a park with lots of people swigging wine on benches so not a safe environment. Aside from the location, the hotel was ok - rooms were fairly nice, staff were very friendly....everything ok. Not great, not bad...ok. The Christmas markets in Cologne really are excellent - however watch your possessions when in town, I had all my valuables strapped in my bad across my chest but twice let go of the handle of my wheelie suitcase and both times someone nearly grabbed it! I feel really let down by the position as we spent far longer travelling backwards and forwards than we wanted to but if you need this area then the hotel is decent enough.
