This place was incredibly beautiful- it reminded me very much of being in France, and the gardens were also gorgeous. It was peaceful and had some interesting historical art. The breakfast was delicious too!!!
Albemarle Estate is a private and secluded place that is just beautiful. It is situated in the middle of the largest vineyard in Virginia. Have lunch at the winery first, as the food is delicious. Our stay included a very nice hot breakfast in their beautiful dining room with a cozy fire. You’ll love touring the inside of this beautiful estate. Play a game of pool, exercise in their rec room, or watch a movie with popcorn in their cozy movie theater. There are also bikes to ride around the property.
It IS in the middle of absolutely nowhere and we struggled a little with finding it. The location proved to be one of our favorite things about the property. There were no children running about, no racket from people using ice machines or vending machines. Our room was simply appointed but quite luxurious. The complimentary breakfast bore no resemblance to chain lodging's chow line swarm. We will return.
Unfortunately, the Albemarle Estate does not have any dining service other than a breakfast. This meant driving into Charlottesville for dinner. Quite an inconvenience. Additonally, I was disappointed in one of the staff members. I arrived and checked into our room and then we left to visit the winery. Upon our return I buzzed in at the gate informing the gentleman that I was a registered guest giving him my name. We were buzzed in and upon arriving at the main house he met us in the parking lot informing us that we couldn't park there that we had to relocate to the parking by the pool house. I informed him once again that we were already registered and staying in the main house. His response was okay then. Later in the day I requested some information and his recommendations regarding the location of a nice restaurant were we might enjoy a nice dinner. He took a binder from his desk and there was no information contained in his book on restaurants. He kept telling us of places "In Town" when I finally interrupted him informing him that I have no idea where "In Town" is. He couldn't provide names or directions to any locations where we might enjoy dinner. We ended up driving into Charlottesville searching for a nice place to eat ... we ended up at a McDonalds. In a twenty minute drive around that was the only eatery we saw. Not impressed!
The hotel was lovely, the grounds were beautiful and interesting. The reception and services were fantastic. The stay was very comfortable and the staff provided outstanding service. The facility is very interesting with several nice features. We loved the place and the experience and would highly recommend it.
Definitely will plan another stay. Wish we would have had more than a couple of days to experience more.
