This is my 7th time stay at this hotel which I call my home away from home. Each and every time I feel like I am home. The staff is warm and so very sweet to me. During this stay I got very ill and the staff attended to me as if I were a relative checking up on my and even calling medical staff to look in on me. This is why I stay here as yes this is a hotel but to me it;s my home in Cartagena. I can not Thank the staff enough for what they did for me. Awesome clean room, pool was excellent near by. In Cartagena stay here it's walking distance to everything and again you get treated like family you can't ask for more. Grasias Familia Joe Cartagena
Wow! The rooftop bar was phenomenal! The best drink I’ve had was the Lulada made by Charlie. He was so nice and helpful! I highly recommend this little chill rooftop with amazing views and great Drinks. 5 stars!!
Let me preface this review with saying I am not a fussy traveler and have traveled extensively. But the Allure BonBon has the distinct honor of earning my first one star review. Let’s start at the beginning. We made travel arrangements through a reputable, well-known agency we’ve used half dozen times before. When we arrived to the hotel late at night, the front desk agent was shocked to see us and said they had no idea we had reservations. After calling the travel company and speaking with the desk, we did in fact have a reservation, it just wasn’t in their system. He put us in a musty smelling room with interior windows even though we paid for an ocean view room. The next day we were able to move to the room we paid for.....but in the long run, we should have stayed in the musty room. Our air conditioning went out and the room temp went up to 34°C/90+°. We alerted the front desk at 11 to the problem, but they never relayed the message to maintenance. When we arrived back to our room, it was still stifling hot. We told the new front desk agent who promptly sent up maintenance. He told us the problem would be fixed. But, after half hour and no sign of the room cooling we asked to move. We were told the hotel was booked -- as was both of their sister properties. As the staff was trying to figure out what to do with us -- they did offer us a nice dinner at their other hotel. The manager told us that they would have to move us to a completely different hotel. The bottom line -- the staff should have fixed the problem hours earlier when we first alerted them to the problem instead of us having to wait basically an entire afternoon before finally coming up with a solution.
Allure Bonbon is a small hotel converted from a large house, I believe. The rooms are oddly arranged but clean and comfortable. WiFi is good. Breakfast is delightful. Great location but quiet in room. The best part are the employees who are so charming. Everyone of them has been kind, happy and helpful. It's much nicer than a large, sterile hotel. Good price too.
The hotels location is amazing and the staff were generally very courteous. I booked a double room under the assumption that the occupancy could be two. In any respectable hotel you don’t have to pay for visitation. No additional occupancy fee is incurred unless the stay is overnight beyond the original occupancy limit of the room. I was informed at checkout that it is their general policy to charge for any visitation to your room which is completely weird. Additionally their is no reliable wifi. 4 of my 5 day stay was spent without wifi and I was told the service call was placed. Lastly all the amenities are at the sister hotel which is about 4 blocks away. Overall the hotel isn’t worth it and I wouldn’t recommend.
Amazing experience! Firstly I need to highlight the staff, Eduardo e Jorge made everything perfect during our stay, even arranging specific fruits and drinks for the breakfast and good suggestions of trips to the Rosario Island. The hotel is a cheap alternative in a great location! It’s is near to the walled city but not inside, what could be noisy and dirty. The possibility of using allure chocolat pool is something you really need to go for, because that terrace is an amazing place with really nice people ready to assist you in the most better ways, they also have the best Coconut lemonade of the city! I highly recommend this hotel!
The hotel is in a good location and the staff is decent. That is the end of the positive aspects. The shower water was freezing, the Wi-Fi was brutal (this review may not even post properly), there was a legit brawl outside our door during breakfast. The one saving grace was being able to frequent allure chocolate as well. Chocolate seemed to be a notch above. Charles, the bartender at the pool was phenomenal. Cartagena itself was great but this hotel was not. Would not recommend
Went to Cartagena on a vacation trip and the hotel was a pleasant surprise. Located in Getsemani, it's in a walking distance to Cartagena's walled city and the harbour, having countless options for a meal or some drinks nearby. Our room was very well located, very quiet and with a good view from the street and the sea. The staff is very helpful and will gladly tell you how to enjoy your stay in Cartagena. The only thing you need to be careful about is that, much like every other place in the city, staff there will sometimes insist you take some especific tours, designed to catch unware tourists, like the Chiva Rumbera, which is mainly a ride on an old bus with loud music and old people drinking bad booze, and some of the resorts in the private islands around the city (instead of offering other options, which are better). Another downside is that, in trying to be welcoming, staff sometimes will invade your personal space. They give you a courtesy chocolate every night. One day, the cleaning staff forgot to place the chocolate in our room so they felt it was ok to let themselves in, using a master key, while we were there, inside the room. They will welcome you with a very diverse bow of regional fruits that are delicious. Same can be said about breakfast, with a beautifully arranged plate of fruits and some bread and butter. You can also ask them to make you some eggs. A really nice place to stay when in Cartagena.
Imagine you wake up at 2:30AM to start your day of traveling to Colombia, expecting a pick up at the airport arranged thru the hotel only to find no one there and have to take a cab (which is fine since it's 1/3 the price but we wanted to make things easy) then get left off and the door is freaking locked and you're standing there with suitcases wondering what the hell is going on. Thanks Allure Bonbon for the lack of communication that we would be moved to the Chocolat down the street. Someone finally noticed us standing there and told us we were moving but there was absolutely no reason to not have known this in advance. Ridiculous.
Very good hotel, placed in a real good place very close the old town ( not 5 minutes walking) at sea side between the pubs and Cartagena night live and the Old Town, the old clock. Sweet swimming pool and smooth hotel people.
