Just outside the clock tower, this hotel’s location is perfect for enjoying Getsemaní and the old city on foot. The rooms are fancy and the included breakfast had one of the best arepas in town. The staff is friendly and cocktails are amazing.

The staff was most accommodating; however, there were several instances of somewhat third world situations, for example, the elevator would not open on our floor, the safe would not lock (another one was promptly supplied). On the first night we returned to the room to find just a trickle of water.( It was explained that the water was turned off in the district. When the water returned it was brown for a few minutes.) The architecture was beautiful and the breakfasts tops. Our room and bath were beautiful.

one of the most beautiful rooms we have ever stayed in

Like many other reviewers before me, this is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in (and I've travelled the world)! The style and appointments are so well done that it is a joy to see and a pleasure to lounge around in. The staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming. (We especially enjoyed Mr. Rey, the happy, hardworking doorman.) I can't imagine staying in Cartagena without a pool . . . and this had a good size one on an upper deck, two splash pools on the ground floor and a hot tub on the roof. . . with a gorgeous view and sunset. There are beautiful chaises everywhere to relax in, Mr. Dalgoberto makes a great Caipirinha with his handcrafted bitters, the restaurant is beautiful and quite good. The rooms are lovely, beautifully decorated, with rain showers and cut glass lighting. I was also SO glad that we could stay so close (basically 2 blocks) from the clock tower entrance to the old town without always dealing with the carnival of that section and touts. Since the hotel is new, there are a few tiny things . . . a couple of rooms have a noise issue (because those bathrooms have louvered windows instead of vented fans, so noise comes in by the stairs or elevator) . . . and they need to establish reliable drivers and restaurants to recommend (though the driver Fabio is fair and terrific . . . and we loved The Baron restaurant and the Cevicheria). But everyone was gracious and accommodating. You'd be lucky to get to stay there, it's a rare find!
