I booked and paid one room in Days inn Carson city for two nights (6/19 - 6/20) on 06/18 morning . When I booked, the Expedia website just said "2 queens bedroom" and did not mention smoking or non-smoking, so I assumed it is a non-smoking room. We never smoke and have a 6 year old daughter, so we can’t stay in a smoking room. On 6/18 3:10PM, I received one confirmation email from Expedia which said "2 queen SMK.....". Unfortunately, I did not see this email until around 5PM. So, I called the hotel, and the hotel asked me to contact Expedia for the cancellation. I did contact Expedia, and they promised me that I will get the refund. On the second day, 6/19, at 3:48PM, a man from the hotel, Days inn Carson city, called me and asked whether we will check in. We explained to him that it is a smoking room so we won't check in and we have already asked Expedia to help us to cancel the booking, he replied "All right". We thought that he approved our cancellation, and we never checked in. Several days later, Expedia sent me an email and said that the hotel are holding my original charge and declined my refund request. This hotel clearly knew that I had been trying to cancel the reservation since 6/18. But, unbelievably, this hotel continuously sent me reservation emails 5 times through Expedia, with one email right after the man who said "all right" called us on 6/18, even though we never checked in. The way that Days inn dealt with this incident is unacceptable and shameful!

The Days Inn in Carson City needs a complete remodel. Dark, dingy, shopworn rooms are not quite basic habitation. Front desk person was nice, but the rooms are really on their last legs and management is charging top business rates. Any motel 6 would be a huge improvement.

It’s cleanish. Beds were clean and everything looked clean but upon checking the beds as a precaution, I found a dirty pair of socks under my mattress and a hair clip with hair still on it on the shower rod. Just make sure to check everything and I’d only recommend a very quick, short stay.
