We were looking for a hotel in Cancun, for one night, at the end of our holiday in Mexico, before catching our flight. Browsing the Booking.com site, it showed us a last minute ‘deal’, a double room from $117 for $30, with free wifi and parking. The review was great, 8.3, and we decided to book it immediately. After paying and entering the room, we were shocked. How this place can be rated 8.3? It is far the worse accommodation we stayed in Mexico. Not even the motels in the middle of nowhere in US are that bad. I don’t know if we were given a bad room, or in an old part of the hotel, but the reviews do not match what we experienced at all. The hotel is falling apart. Everything is old, stained and smelly. Very poor maintenance to walls, furniture and doors. While I showered a spider jumped on my back, scaring me more than causing harm. But if you have problems with spiders, be aware. During our vacation in Mexico we stayed in many villas, suites, B&Bs and hotels for prices from $30-$45 per day, simple and comfy places, and all were 200% better than this accommodation (cannot call it a hotel). What a disappointment. Pros: Wifi is good; good ceiling fan (however seems quite unstable), walking distance from Walmart Cons: parking is on the streets and not that protected; fridge is old and smelly; bed uncomfortable, one awful pillow, stained bed cover; no lift; not nice area; old AC; no bedside lamp (or light switch); shower with poor water pressure. Stink of cigaret at reception/entrance hall; noisy fridge; very loud guests, slamming doors at 5am.
I loved staying here I felt safe the entire time we were so close to parque palapas, Mercado 28 and the bus to the hotel zone.. I am not picky but everything was clean and the service was great the front was very helpful and we definitely saved a lot of money.. I will be staying here every time!! Thank you 😊 Martha&Monica
This is a small, friendly hotel in central Cancun. It isn't the Marriott, but we didn't expect that. The price is more than reasonable. It is on a quiet, residential street. The people are great. The breakfast (small extra price) was very good. This is more like being in a real city than all that beach resort stuff. Serious travelers stay here, rather than drunken revelers.
Super cute hotel! Staff is friendly and helpful, very accommodating. Atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Tv and fridge in room as well as lots of storage space. Really great location, close to some good flea market shopping, Parque Las Palapas, and a grocery store. Take a bus (route 2) from nearby to get to the hotel zone, it’s only 24 pesos! Breakfast is AMAZING and staff there are super kind, it’s definitely worth the extra couple bucks. Only problems were that there wasn’t a microwave in the room and the hot water never lasted more than a minute. Also make sure you have the correct location saved in your gps because mine shows two locations! Honestly great place to stay and I would definitely stay again.
Stayed 7 nights at Hotel Los Girasoles, away from the Hotel Zone as we wanted a more local experience in Cancun. Great location- 5 minute walk to Parque Palapas, 10 min walk to ADO bus station. It is also about a 7 minute walk to Oasis Smart Hotel where most of our pick up and drop offs were for our day tours/excursions, so you don't have to worry if you need to stay in the hotel zone in order to book these tours. Staff were so friendly and helpful, room was clean and had all the amenities we needed. Would definitely recommend if you want to stay in a more local area!
I stayed here about three years ago and thought it was great then. It still is. Close to Parque Palapas and the ADO terminal (10 mins or so walk). Super clean rooms, a nice little breakfast cafe (pay extra) and super friendly, helpful staff. The wi-fi wasn't working while I was there but the manager let me piggy-back on to his personal mobile to do my airline check-in. Brilliant service. I will definitely stay again.
This a great little hotel close to downtown but very reasonable priced. We paid $90 for 3 nights. The staff was my favorite. On the second day I felt like I was home. Everyone was so attentive and friendly but not fake. Loved it!!!
We booked a night in Cancún for the easier access to the airport. This hotel did the job perfectly! It was cheap, clean room, good shower and had air con along with good WiFi to allow us to check in for our flights. We left around 545am and the reception staff called us a cab after our Uber driver said he couldn’t go into the airport again as there’s some limit on how many times he can go there. Very happy with the location too as there’s a few decent restaurants around and it’s a 15min wall from the bus station.
We stayed at Los Girasoles for 2 nights, when we first arrived in Cancun. The room was nice and tidy with good working ac. All the staff was friendly and spoke enough English to help us out with food and the way to the busstation. It's a couple minutes walk to the supermarket, bus stops. The breakfast is good and recommended. Overall worth the money and fine place to stay for 1 or 2 nights.
nice restaurants, a nearby Mercado with smaller restaurants, and an area of shops for trinkets and souvenirs. There are a couple walmarts within driving distance and it's right off of the main street for heading to the beaches and shopping malls in the Zona Hotelera. The area is also filled with locals and is not a tourist trap. Amenities: There's a nice area with tables and free wifi, a computer with Internet if needed, a couple small patios, and a breakfast menu for the mornings. We had the room with a small refrigerator, which worked fine. Parking was on the street, free, and seemed sufficient. It's one of the better and least expensive options in the area. It's not for a honeymoon, but mainly for just spending the night and getting out. Warning: Like with any hotel, when channel surfing, it's recommended to preview the titles of the programs on the menu guide, then selecting what you want to watch, instead of accidentally winding up on a program that's not suitable for children and adults with morals.
