Great stay here with members of my family. Hotel is ideally placed for all the main visitor attractions and local bars and restaurants. Hotel was spotless and the room was very spacious and clean. Had its own bar and tea room which we used often and was reasonably priced for an hotel. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting a good nights sleep in a very handy location.
We stayed at the Hotel Portinari after we departed a beer cruise. The hotel was good, the room was clean and comfortable with a nice outdoor patio. The staff was friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable and the shower had good heat and water pressure. The downside was the massive amount of construction that was going on in the square outside of the hotel. The entire thing was ripped up, we booked though Expedia and neither they nor the hotel gave us a heads up prior to our stay. Other than being a pain to get in and out of the hotel, the construction didn't impact our stay too much, but a heads up would have been nice.
It is a nice hotel. Clean with modern and minimalis design, plus centrally located in Brugge. The size of the room is also pretty big. The toiletries are from Rituals. Wifi speed is good. Too bad the walls between rooms are very thin. You can hear every noise and at some point I could even follow the conversation in our next door room. It is a small hotel so I expect a more warm and personal touch, but I didnt get that. I feels like staying in any other big chain hotel. All in all, it is a good hotel but nothing special.
We have stayed in Bruges many times but almost exclusively in the Novotel or Ibis hotels. This time we decided to branch out and go for an independent hotel on a different side of town by ‘t Zand. This is a really good location with plenty of restaurants bars and tea rooms and within very easy reach of the two major shopping streets. We booked a breakfast on a couple of mornings which is a buffet style affair with plenty of choice and good quality food, however it is quite pricey. Lacks a little in atmosphere however the rooms are modern and immaculately clean and well furnished. Superb views from the rear of the property with all three major towers in view.
This was a good value hotel about 10 mins walk from the main square. We had one night there as a group of 6 friends - to soak up the festive atmosphere. TBH the markets weren't that amazing, but the decorations, ice rink and cold weather made us all feel suitably Christmasy! Chocolate shops were plentiful, as were excellent restaurants and cafes. Plenty of clothes shopping too - both cheap and cheerful as well as high end. Canal trip worth a go. It was freezing and foggy but we braved it for half an hour - very scenic. The Portinari is walkable from the train station - if you have map/directions, but we got a cab. Plenty of them and only 7 euros for all six of us. It's worth noting that there are major building works going on directly outside the front of the hotel. However, it didn't mar our stay as we had rooms (2x triple) at the back which were very quiet. Modern rooms, comfy beds, good lighting, well heated, huge tv, quality toiletries and tea /coffee provided. Open plan bathroom but a blind is supplied for full privacy. Toilet is thankfully fully enclosed....There was a good cafe next door for breakfast. Unfortunately when we left, the hotel reception mixed up our taxi booking which made for a very stressful journey to the station. Thankfully our outward bound train was delayed so we managed to get on board - had that not happened we would have missed our connecting Eurostar from Brussels. Neither the taxi driver nor the hotel staff seemed that bothered. Thankfully it all worked out but it was an awful way to end what was, up to that point, a really nice weekend away.
Myself and my wife had the pleasure of staying 3 nights at the Portinari hotel recently. Honestly I can’t praise this hotel enough. The staff couldn’t do enough for you, the entire hotel was spotless and the decor was first class. To top it all off as it was my wife’s birthday on the 2nd day we were there they treated myself and my wife to a free drink on the house. The location of the hotel is perfect and is literally 800 metres to the train station plus the main square where the Christmas markets are located along with hundred of shops is literally 5 minutes walk. We shall definitely return!
A great hotel with plenty of space (as far as hotel rooms go) - we had a quad room. Bathroom was different with the glass but able to pull blind down. Found it a little awkward to shower without putting water everywhere as no shower screen and a hand held shower. Not a criticism- just a little difficult. The noise from the renovation in the square was not that noticeable and they only are working during the day when we were out of the room anyway. Breakfast was a good spread with plenty of variety. The only criticism I have is the communication between the day staff and night staff. As we had an early train to catch we had arranged a continental breakfast to be ready at 5am. Day staff said this would be fine as the night staff would be preparing breakfast then. Upon check out the night staff said she knew nothing about it and said there was nothing to give us, not even a coffee. She also questioned whether we had paid as there was an outstanding balance written on her sheet...we had paid everything including the city tax the day we checked in as we mentioned upon check in we were leaving early. Had to wait and buy breakfast in Brussels once our train arrived there. The only downfall of this property.
Me and my husband stayed here for the weekend to Bruges to celebrate my birthday. We came by train and this hotel was really easy to find and only 10 minutes or so walk from the station. It’s situated just on the edge of the old town, so another 10 minutes walk in the other direction and you are in the main market square. There are plenty of bars and restaurants near the hotel, although we preferred to eat in the centre. The tearoom downstairs is lovely and we enjoyed hot chocolate and a free waffle here to escape from the cold afternoon! Also had a beer here before going back to our room at night. I really loved the layout of the bedroom, particularly the wet-room which has a glass panel separating it from the main bedroom area. Don’t worry, there is a blind you can pull down for privacy! The shower is really modern and you just press a button and the water comes straight out of the ceiling which I thought was really clever. There are lovely Rituals toiletries too. The room could be a little cold at times but temperature was generally ok. There is a kettle for making hot drinks. Housekeeping were quite late coming round (3pm) so we did not get our room made up. The staff were really friendly and helpful though. The hotel has a really quirky and boutique kind of feel while also being modern. The prices were reasonable and I would definitely stay here again if I return to Bruges.
Bruges has many nice hotels and this is one of them. Only about a 10min walk from the square it’s in an ideal location with underground parking near by too. Our room was a modern twin. We only chose a twin as that was in our budget. Luckily we’re a couple otherwise the glass fronted shower may haven been odd. Nice cafe, seating area and restaurant (breakfast).
We stayed at this lovely hotel for one next night on Fri 1 Dec. The hotel is very modern and perfectly placed for sightseeing, eating and shopping. The room was very comfortable and had everything we needed. We had a delicious breakfast too. The staff were extremely efficient and helpful, I would have no hesitation in staying here again.
