Enjoyed my stay. Quiet rooms, great location and amazing breakfast. Only issue I had is when using the WiFi you are required to sign in with facebook and allowing some 3rd party app access to your account and allow it to make posts on your behalf!! Not sure why this is needed in a hotel like this, expect this from hostels.
This hotel is right near the centre of Bruges with lots of good sites, bars and restaurants within a few minutes walk. The welcome was friendly and professional, and we were quickly checked in and up to our rooms within minutes. The lady who dealt with us most was efficient, unrushed and speaks 5 languages fluently! Our room was notably clean, spacious and had a walk-in wetroom/bathroom separated from the bedroom by a glass wall. There is good aircon, coffee and toiletries, and the double glazing mutes the regular chiming of bells, but we chose to listen to these and other amazing sounds of the city! Breakfast wasn't included in our rate and after a little local investigation we opted for it the evening before. This was a good decision as the food on offer is pretty good and value for money!
Beautiful hotel in central Bruges- within walking distance to the train station, town square, lots of restaurants & shops. Lots of little bars lined up in front of the hotel to sit down and enjoy a drink & meal at. HUGE, spacious, modern rooms with a generous sized bathroom & toilet. The staff are very helpful & the breakfast in the morning is absolutely fantastic. Definitely recommend staying here when in Bruges!
At first glance we thought what a great room no 39 was, but there were a few negatives. A nice quiet room but the handles were loose on the windows. A very comfy bed but when you sat up in the morning you hit your head on a shelf above the bed. A nice big wet room but the overhead shower wet the towels and there was nowhere to put your toiletries only a small stand by the basin. The main problem was the smell. The 1st night wasn't so bad and we just left the window open but the 2nd was so bad my husband had to cover the shower drain and the basin with towels. The next morning we did inform reception thinking it was only our room , but after a visit to the toilets downstairs we now think the hotel has serious drain problem .Lets hope this gets solved, maybe its linked to all the road works across from the hotel We found it very funny finding a empty fridge after reading the leaflet saying everything in the fridge was in your room rate. We found the staff to be very pleasant and helpful and there was plenty to choose from for our breakfast
we came for honeymoon from paris. Hotel has great location close to train station and center. Rooms are amazing white perfect decoration and view is MARVELLOUS. They use rituals as amenity in bathroom - waoww. The night keeper were very helpful. reception is great. they offered us free drink fot honeymoon. Batrooms are perfect with window design. Breakfast is amazing and very relaxing. will definately come back
This hotel was located in a very central spot in the city - about 10 minutes away from the train station if you walked, and right near a bus stop if you prefer public transportation. Everything was clean and modern. We especially loved the USB ports on either side of the bed which made charging our devices very easy, especially since as Americans, we would otherwise need adapters. There were two beautiful skylights in our room which provided unbelievable natural light. We loved it and the cool, fresh air felt amazing! Our only complaint was the layout of the bathroom. The shower did not have a curtain and so no matter how careful we were, the entire bathroom would flood every time we showered. We thought the breakfast was fine -- a little lackluster compared to the other hotels we visited in Europe. Overall, nice experience. We would stay here again!
The room was modern and very well thought out - with fantastic views across the city. Very comfortable in every respect with air conditioning and good quality fittings. Convenient for the town centre and station. The breakfast was really very good and had a wide choice of options. Will definitely return.
My wife and I spent one night at the Portinari Hotel on our way between Amsterdam and Paris. The hotel is within walking distance of the train station (and just about everything else). We checked early and dropped our bags off (our room wasn't ready) and walked outside to have dinner at the Hotel. The young woman checking us in had no sense of humor...I soon found that nobody in the hotel had a sense of humor or even the capacity to smile. Our room should have been nice, but it had several things that were just "off". First, there was no safe. Second, there was a sign that said everything in the mini fridge was free...it was empty. Third, there were ants crawling all over the coffee/tea service area. Fourth, there was no phone in the room. Fifth, the was a suite, but the side room was blocked off but lights shown through the frosted glass all night. Lastly, when we told the desk person at check out he acted like he could care less. Less than less. Of the four hotels we visited this trip this was the only one we wouldn't give five stars. I might have been a little more generous if somebody smiled or seemed to be interested in our visit.
We came here via a coach party and the hotel was part of the package. The choice of hotel was excellent. We booked one of the rooms with an alcove type window bay which gave us a bit more room (No.22). It looked over the back of the hotel which gave a view of some of the tops of the historical buildings. We were met on the coach by a member of the hotel staff. Although it was bit of a trek over the square to the hotel it was fine. We stayed here for 3 nights. Breakfasts were excellent and the lady dealing with us was very polite and friendly. Wide choice of food to suit everyone. We found all of the staff professional, rooms were cleaned to a high standard. It's idealy sited to walk into the town centre only a 5-6 minute walk. Along the way there are plenty of places to eat, drink , etc. The hotel itself has a conservatory where you can sit and people watch, you can have drinks and food here. However in the late evening we found no one to serve us so we moved next door to a bar. We really enjoyed our stay and would come back to the hotel.
Had a great stay at Portinari. I had been very worried about the bathroom situation after reading other reviews on TripAdvisor but we somehow ended up in a room with a sliding bathroom door which was perfect. I did glance in another room with the door left open as we were checking out and that room did not have any sliding door. Overall the hotel was great. Very comfortable bed and staff were helpful and friendly, giving free umbrellas, checking us in late, and helping in every way. Amazing shower. Great location. Would recommend.
