Very Clean and comfortable Superior room No. 28. Overlooking square with renovation works in process. Double glazed so no noise. Good breakfast although hot food was nearly cold. Need to find something different to store the food in. Reception advised and we enjoyed the cold breakfast very much. Hotel Very clean. Room small, just enough room to pass by the bottom of the bed. Bathroom very nice. Very good position for the centre walking past many chocolate shops on the way. As it was Easter the place was packed and raining most of the time. Cafe/bar very pleasant but limited food menu. Nice pint of Stella and hot chocolate. Reception staff very helpful trying very hard to get us booked into the restaurants of our choice.I would stay again, but would have to find out which rooms are larger than room 28. So only negative was the hot food and small room otherwise perfect. Well done.
Found the hotel as described, with the direction for and from the car park perfect. The hotel was bright and smart, with a hint of 'boutique' style to the decor. The room was a junior suite which was suitable for a family of 4, with the exception of the additional bed being a drop down double. Kids didn't have a problem with that. All you need to accept is that it was open plan, including the bathroom (toilet was a separate room). It should be noted that the square in front of the hotel is currently undergoing a complete regeneration and building works are on going, though whilst during our stay over Easter it was quiet and peaceful. It will no doubt look splendid when complete. No real negatives, but some of the staff need to lighten up and acoustic flooring should have been installed!!!!! And is breakfast worth the asking price, no.
We stayed for 3 night at Portinari Hotel over the Easter weekend. The room was lovely and spacious and very clean. We were given 2 complimentary drinks on arrival for our anniversary, but the bar was always empty/closed so we struggled to find a time to actually use these and when we did, everyone seemed confused about what we could/could not have to drink. Our room was located on level 2 and we had a problem with noise on the 1st night, being kept up until 2:30am by noisy guests. After the first night it was fine but you can hear a lot from the other rooms and hallway. The location is very good. 10 min walk from main station and also the square. Near all the shops. Also.. did not like the picture on shower (bit creepy!!)
We booked this hotel as it was very well priced and a short walk (around 10/15 minutes) from Brugge station as we were arriving by train. The hotel reception was very nice looking, with very helpful staff who spoke excellent English. Our check in procedure was very quick and our room was very clean, if a little on the small side. It may be worth mentioning that there is no door to the shower area, however there is a blind that covers the glass wall if you are shy around your partner. The hotel was very well situated, with many bars and restaurants located directly outside. The Belfry of Brugge was only a 10 minute walk away. I highly recommend this hotel, we had a wonderful stay. Thank you so much, Hotel Portinari!
The hotel was located about 10 minutes from the train station. Great walk through the park and close to the massive red block concert hall. The whole experience was okay. I'd say that one member of staff at reception just needs to be a bit more polite but the others were great. They need to have some clarity between themselves too. When checking in, the lady wanted my credit card but couldn't tell me why. I had pre-paid for my room before arrival and there is no mini bar in the room. Further to this, when checking out, I was told that the city tax was always paid at the end so they wouldn't have needed to take a copy of my credit card. - I understand it can be normal to ask for a credit card, but would be good if the staff could at least explain what it was for, seeing as I've paid for everything already...either way :) But onto the good things: - Room was lovely and spacious - Lovely view from Floor 4 - Cleaning staff were efficient and nice - Very quite - Nice bed/shower/sofa - Great location Some downsides: - Was not the biggest fan of the picture on the shower window - Desk chair provided wasn't too comfy - Staff could probably do with a bit of training on customer service. Most were good but in my opinion, always room for improvement, especially for some Either way, it was a good stay overall and I would recommend it for the price and location.
We stayed three nights at the Portinari and it was excellent in all aspects: smooth and friendly check in, nice room with a great bed, and stunning views of the area. We only had breakfast one morning but it was excellent value. Our room was on the 4th floor at the back so extremely quiet. We would recommend this hotel for its superb location. There is a large parkade very close and it is truly walking distance to the train.
The bed was huge and really comfortable and the shower was great. It's in a fantastic location, close to the station, as well as the centre of Bruges. Staff were very helpful and friendly as well. Our room had a nice view of a nearby Church as well. As it was our wedding anniversary, they gave us a complimentary drink each as well.
We stayed in a club collection room and loved it. The spacious room was perfect for my husband, myself and our baby and allowed us to put the baby to sleep on one side of the room and hang out and watch tv on the other. The staff were very helpful and considerate. There is a underground public carpark which has an entrance within metres of the hotel. Just follow the hotels instructions on where to park. It was very convenient. Everything was in walking distance of the hotel. The only disappointment was that our room had a bath but no proper shower - just the shower spray and hose at bath level. This was ok for us but was quite hard to wash your hair holding it. somewhere to hook it up on the wall would have been better. Also we thought a mini bar was included in the room - but there was nothing actually in the minibar. However we did book through the hotel website and was given a complimentary bottle of wine. Also you can borrow gameboys - great for kids or big kids :)
We were initially delighted when we arrived at Hotel Portinari - The reception area was beautiful, cosy & the hotel was so near the central hub of Bruges. Unfortunately, our experience went down hill when we reached our room. My friends and I had booked their 'Triple collection', having viewed photographs on booking.com and their own website. The room we received was nothing like the bright, open & airy room that was advertised to us. It was entirely misrepresented. We also had to separate our beds ourselves from doubles to singles by pushing the beds apart (again, we booked a room with 3 singles). A small modern table in the seating area of the room fell over when we sat some biscuits on it because it was so wobbly - we tightened up the legs ourselves so it stood upright. The room had numbers for calling reception but was missing a phone. When we came back to our room on the 2nd day there was a horrible smell - I assume it was a problem with plumbing. It remained until we left the next day. Over the course of the weekend, the staff were what can only be described as grumpy. Any time we walked through reception, they ignored us. I even tried saying 'hello' at one stage and the lady ignored me. Bizarre! My friend was feeling unwell and thought a glass of milk might help. She asked for a glass at the bar and the woman seemed angry and started saying that they only had an option for hot milk on the till. She regretted asking! From our experience of the staff throughout the weekend, we were afraid to cause trouble so we decided to mention our room dissappointment upon checkout. After some conversation, we were given €30 off our bill. I left feeling disappointed and I'm surprised that they can get away with falsely advertising what some rooms looks like. The good parts were the rituals bath products in the bathroom - these were lovely. The reception area of the hotel is really beautiful. The location of the hotel is also ideal. The room was also clean and the beds were very comfortable. My advice is to check which room you're getting before you stay here. The lovely rooms advertised clearly do exist but if your experience is like ours, not all rooms look like this.
We were welcomed to the hotel by a friendly lady who also perfect English, and given a map of Bruges and discount card for popular tourist areas. We stayed in room 101 which was spacious for my husband and i and our two teenage girls. Main bedroom with a kingsize bed, a partition with large television and chairs and coffee table, and a double bed for the girls. Plenty cupboards. Separate toilet. And huge bathroom, walk in shower with great water pressure and various shower heads. A lovely long bath and plenty of luxurious shampoos, conditioners, body lotions, shower gels etc. Bed was very comfortable, my only gripe is there could have been a few extra pillows in the cupboards. Good quality bedding, we had a balcony and access to a garden area, but it was too cold to make use of it, I would imagine spring or summer, would be lovely to have a cocktail there. We had breakfast in the morning, lots of fresh fruit and cold meats, pastries, and fresh scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, bacon, sausages. We will definitely stay here again.
