I really hate to submit a review on this hotel because it is such an incredible place I'm fearful there will never be another vacancy. Before we even realized we were at our hotel we were drawn into the charming courtyard. Even in the middle of winter it was inviting. To realize it was our hotel was a fantastic surprise. The staff are pleasant, the location quiet but very convenient to everything and the rooms - THE ROOMS! Adorable. Slightly quirky in a good way but simply wonderful. You can not go wrong by staying here - but save me a room - I'll be back! We were there for the weekend to visit the Christmas markets (other markets are better) but the hotel was very close so it was easy to drop packages and return.
We stayed here for Easter weekend and the whole hotel and staff are amazing. The rooms are spacious, clean and very tastefully decorated. The breakfast was great. The hotel bar stayed open for as long as customers were willing to stay up drinking. Location is excellent, plenty of nice little restaurants in the area away from the regular tourist traps. The staff were super friendly, as you would expect from a family run business. This was the perfect visit, will definitely stay here again!
Perfect hotel for a stay in Bruges. Run by a brother and sister, who attended to our every need. Newly renovated with comfortable beds and nooks. In the heart of Bruges, everything you would want...Worth every penny!!! Ultra fine French decor.
What a great stay! Let me tell you, I was very hesitant on booking this hotel due to the lack of reviews and some bad ones I found on various sites. The hotel was recently renovated thus any of the bad reviews definitely are written during that time. Every inch of the hotel looked brand new. Everything is elegantly decorated. The hotel staff was so nice to us upon our arrival. We did not opt for the breakfast as we thought 20 euro per person was a little pricey. I will say though we did have some difficulties finding a breakfast place early in the morning; in hindsight we should have opted for the hotel breakfast. Our room was beautifully decorated. It is a small room but very similar to the typical European size. I loved the location. Very centrally located but away from the tourist traps and hustle bustle. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.
Very nice, romantic boutique hotel with exellent location. Beautiful building with a lot of character. Be aware you must find parking in one of the Qparks nearby and walk the last 900m. Staff was very friendly. Rooms are actually better than you would expect. Not large, but very cozy. Bed was really nice. Bathroom is large and nice. Breakfast was worth 20€. Can recommend this hotel for couples.
Thanks to the fantastic staff, decor, location and service of this beautiful hotel, I was able to (successfully) propose to my girlfriend! We stayed in the Bridal Suite, which was reasonably priced and worth every euro as there was attention paid to even the smallest of details. A great sized room decorated to feel elegant yet comfortable and homely, with subtle touches to ensure the room surpassed expectations. It also had a beautiful Juliet Balcony which overlooked the courtyard, showing a charming space with a water fountain and soft lighting after dark. The hotel is located on the corner of a beautiful cobbled road, within 5 minutes walk of restaurants, shops and the canals, making everything easily accessible. The best bit - the staff! We could have not had the stay we did without them; a professional, friendly and personal service, but due to the nature of our stay, they went above and beyond to accommodate and make our proposal special. By decorating the room, courtyard and providing their assistance in every way possible, it is truly a service that cannot be topped. It was a fantastic stay which we will remember for the rest of our lives, and we can only say thank you to the incredible staff at Hotel De Castillion, and will ensure that we revisit as often as we can!
Warm reception from the small hotel team, who were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and individually decorated to a very high standard. The breakfast was excellent served in nice surroundings. A lift serviced all floors.
My wife and I stayed in a Junior Suite for 4 nights in December. The room was large and spacious. It had an en suite with double sinks, WC, a large bath with over bath shower and heated towel rail. There was an HD flat screen TV in the room and two comfy chairs. It had a mini bar fridge and a fancy coffee maker. It was well located, very close to most of the museum locations. Our room had a view over the rooftops to the OLV and the Belfort tower. We paid extra for breakfasts which were excellent, but not cheap. We would definitely recommend it to others. We booked through Expedia.
Wonderfull hotel! Best location - near the railway station and center - about 10 minutes by foot. Very beautiful and romantic inside. Very tasty breakfast, very helpful guys. Recommend to stay here and to feel Brugge!
We stayed here 1 night (Saturday 24th September) with our friends. We came by motorbike (Harley's) so we had parking included in our stay and breakfast of course. The rooms were gorgeous. Very clean and the decor very pleasing. The shower was amazing and the bed was very comfortable although having only one pillow was a bit low for me so the extra pillow in the wardrobe came in handy. The breakfast was exceptional with a variety of pastries, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, cereals, breads, cold meats and cheese with acceptable coffee, orange juice and if one wants to start early a Buck's Fizz is also available. It is a 'help yourself' breakfast so eat as much as you want. The hotel is a short stroll (5-10mins max) to main square where you'll find a selection of bars and restaurants. Prices are very fair considering we had Moules Marinade with a round of drinks. The little quirky side roads and picturesque views of the canal are just beautiful. On Sundays there are little markets dotted about too. To sum up the shops in Bruges, if you smoke, drink or have a love of chocolate, you definitely won't be disappointed. Having said that there are some dainty unique little shops too. I just couldn't get over how clean the buildings all looked considering they must have been standing there centuries. England (London especially) needs to take a leaf or a whole book!! An absolute amazing weekend from start to finish.
