I can't rave enough about our stay in this uber charming little hotel. It is a family owned and run hotel and it feels like it. Every single attention to detail is found here, and the decor is beyond perfect. I am a designer and I am extremely visual and notice every detail of a hotel (good or bad). I am many times disappointed as I can always find something that isn't "quite right". NOT here in this dream of a hotel. We had two rooms, Basic Deluxe for our 13 year old daughter and one upgraded for us next door. Each room has a gorgeous chandelier over the bed, faux fur throw draped over an armchair in the corner near the window, the bed linens were custom embroidered and of high thread count, the room was decorated in 100% perfect authentic old world euro flair but with all of the modern comforts we love and appreciate, large flat screen tv, wifi, robe/slippers, great toiletry amenities, and even a heated towel rack in bathroom. No detail was left undone. I was so intrigued by the fabulous design and decor I asked the son, who ran the downstairs concierge. He advised his mother and sister designed everything and you can tell because they studied every inch of that hotel to perfect it. We were there just after Christmas and the entire place was decorated as if you stepped into a Dickens novel. It was a true dream come true waking up there. The breakfast was buffet style and great, as is the room they serve it in, which was all lit up in candles. In fact, the entire hotel is lit up with candlelight. I actually can't believe this isn't a 5 star because it sure felt like it. We didn't want to leave, we actually tried to extend but we had to catch a train back to Ams to get back to the States and they were sold out the next day anyway. The location absolutely perfect too. I honestly can't say enough about how much we all loved this little gem of a hotel, and I already dream of returning next year for the Christmas season.

Stayed here at the start of December. What a fabulous hotel/location and staff, couldn't fault it. Big thanks to Oliver who gave us great entertainment in the bar. Will definitely stay here again when next in town,

This is a favourite and we decided to spend Christmas here. Good decision! This small family owned and run hotel is charming, immaculate and in the very heart of Bruges. It has its own car park which is a huge asset. It is hard to pin down what makes one hotel bedroom user friendly and another one not. Our room was perfect. Hotel wide WiFi was reliable and an excellent buffet style breakfast - the scrambled eggs were perfect! Preservation Orders prevent the installation of a conventional lift so instead there is a charmingly eccentric rack and pinion lift which is safe, behaves like a conventional lift but is a tad slow. But who cares?! We had a wonderful Christmas in no small part due to the Castillion.

Stayed here for 2 nights in December. The hotel was nicely decorated around Christmas time. Very cozy and comfortable, especially in the bitter cold. Excellent location and everyone who worked here was very friendly. Lots of nice touches as well (chocolates in the evening, bath robes and slippers, etc.).

Ok so we got upgraded to the bridal suite which was just beautiful so thank you to the hotel for that but.... The rest of the hotel is also beautiful , very quirky and tastefully decorated and furnished . The lounge ,bar and dining room fantastic , pretty garden and even car parking ! Staff on reception friendly and helpful . very centrally located yet quiet This is one of the best small hotels I have ever stayed in and deserves to be much highre up the rankings on Trip advisor . Thank you

A charming little hotel in a very charming city. It is on an off-street, below the Saint Salvator Cathedral . Very centrally located, close to everything. Very polite front desk and personnel. Beautiful common areas and a most charming bar. I am not a breakfast person at all and I never book the breakfast. On our last day I wanted a capuccino and a croissant in the morning, called in to order room service and was brought a full breakfast for two, which they charged at what I presume was only the coffee price (8 euros, when breakfast is 20 euros per person). I highly appreciated this, it was not necessary but it revealed professionalism and was greatly appreciated. The only reason I am not giving this hotel 5 stars is the very small rooms. We had a standard room, so cannot say what the most expensive room are like, but our room, although most charming and very cosy, was claustrophobic. Very very small bathroom, wooden beams were part of the room decoration and although they added to the "medieval era" feeling of the place, really the overall feeling in the room was crammed and we kept trying to avoid hitting our heads on something the whole time we were in the room, you had to crawl to get on or off the bed. Finally there was no view of any sort and virtually no natural light in the room, because there was one slopping window with curtains that you could not fully open.

Newley renovated, fabulous room and bathroom with the best bathtub. The staff were all family, very welcoming, helpful and polite. Everything was great I have no complaints, with the extra touch of chocolates on your pillow at night. We had a wonderful stay in Brugge

Long weekend in Bruges - we wanted somewhere central and dog-friendly and Castillion fitted the bill really well! Good things: - our room was fantastic - good size, lovely decor, nice ambience, quiet, proper coffee machine - right in the heart of Bruges - easy walking distance to all the town has to offer (we liked Bruges - nice town, nice people) - lovely people - family owned, really friendly and helpful - the bar and lounge are beautiful art deco design - definitely makes you want to stop for a whisky or two before bed! - they gave us great restaurant recommendations and sorted bookings for us - breakfast is excellent - it's €20 extra, but definitely worth it - the breakfast room is really characterful and the food selection is great - dog-friendly - price was reasonable for the room Bad things: - limited parking (seems to be a feature of Bruges) - we were able to get a spot (there are roughly 8-10 at the back of the hotel), but it was €30 per night, which seemed expensive - our bathroom design was a bit odd - good size, but hard work to get into the bath without some dexterity! - there's no restaurant on site, but that's really not a problem as there are so many nice places within a few minutes walk Highly recommended and would definitely return.

We spent 4 nights here for my wife’s 50th birthday, we had the bridal suit and it is a truly stunning room well worth paying the extra. The hotel is immaculate with lovely friendly staff who are very attentive. We loved Bruges and if we return it will be to this hotel.

Brugge is a charming little town with many hidden gems and this hotel is no exception. I was initially hesitant because of it's low ranking on tripadvisor, but saw that the reviews were nothing but glowing. They were not wrong. This is arguably one of the most beautiful hotels I've stayed in. Every corner was beautiful, from the reception to the salon and even the carpark. It looks like it has been recently renovated and there's event an elevator, so you do not need to lug your luggage up any stairs. The room itself was simply gorgeous. The bed was large, the bathroom was spacious, and incredibly peaceful. Although it was a bit tight because of the furnishings, it was still a very cosy. The service was attentive, warm and personal, and I felt I was being hosted, which added so much more to the charm of the place. Breakfast was also an experience in itself. It was simply scrumptious in a really beautiful room. The hotel is located not far away from Brugge Station, a 15 minute walk or so. But if you are carrying luggage, it would be advisable to take the bus as the pavements are cobblestone. The bus stop is really near by, and so are all the major attractions in Brugge. At the same time, the hotel is located just off the busy areas, and the surroundings are peaceful and quiet. It was an amazing experience and my only regret is not staying for another night.
