A classy hotel in a great location. Lovely breakfast and lounge/bar area with fire. Booked directly with hotel and room requirements were met. Only niggle was bar often not staffed and had to wait a long time to be served. Overall, would stay here again.

Dear fellow travellers, This is a review for travellers, but expect a response from the hotel which will confirm their customer service standards. Reviews are an interesting thing, we look at the positive comments to reassure our decision to be make a booking. We really should be looking at the not so good reviews to see how negative reports are responded too. Yes, small things can lead to a negative comments being made but it the way in which a response is made that can make you again feel okay which staying there anyway. Please view the negative reviews of this hotel and see the responses made. My experience is of the most terrible I have ever had. A small dispute over a charge was raised to a personal attack by the General Manager. I was told at check in that breakfast was included. The receptionist even explained to the extend of the hours of breakfast that was included. When I went to breakfast I was told they just received a call and my room was crossed out for breakfast, so even the list originally had my room down. I raised this a few times as I believed that what was confirmed at check in should be honoured. I was told this was a mistake and offered breakfast at half price. When I again asserted that the check in should be honoured the manager was called. The only thing that the Manager was able to say was 'Mistakes happen, so we go halves in the cost of the mistake'. I felt this was very disappointing. He said 'half or nothing' with his hands raised. Wasn't my mistake so not my cost. When I said that this was very poor and would get a bad review he took it personally. The Manager said he would give me his name. I said that was very arrogant to which he said I was arrogant and abused me in a raised voice in a public space of the hotel while I left. I had to leave the hotel as soon as I could as I was physically trembling from receiving this abuse. I have emailed the owner company 'The Swan Hotel Collection' with no response, it seems all their properties get the same responses. I fully expect I will receive a response to this review that will equally refute my comments and argue my points, its predictable. The fact that I felt I was verbally abused by the General Manager cannot be refuted. Based on other reviews I see that this is standard practice for this hotel. I can honestly say that it is not standard practice for any other hotels I have stayed in included others I have stayed in Bruges. This is not standard practice in any area of customer service hospitality. There are so many better places to stay in Bruges which is an amazing place. My experience of Bruges over all will make up for this small bad experience which I will not take personally as it the issue of the General Manager and the hotel and their intelligence in dealing with negative comments.

Great service, hospitality, staff, wonderful food and drinks. Definitely recommend to stay for those venturing to Bruges for a weekend or so. I loved the charm of the library bar/dining/reception area and the spa is small but relaxing. this hotel had the balance just right and felt like a home from home. The room was quite nice with alll you could need - traditional style decor and lovely views over the town. Great location just off on of the squares next to the main. I do not rate the bar closest to the hotel with the hostel above - its about a 2 minute walk and avoid that at all costs the staff are rude and don't have the best opinion of the British!

It really is in a perfect location, which was brilliant considering the amount of time we spent out and about, and the staff were polite, friendly and reasonably helpful. It stops there for me. Our canal view room had such a high windowsill we could barely see it. Upon check out (walking past open doors of other rooms), I noticed others had much lower sills, if only we had known. And as I could not find the answer on the website, only the new part of the hotel has canal view rooms which means the suites do not for anyone that may be interested. There is no valet, no room service, no doorman, no-one to help with bags to the room. There is a bar but it doesn't even stock vermouth for a martini, so we went to the Gin Club to have one. In all honesty we may stay there again for the location if there is nothing else free nearby; at least we shall be better prepared with what not to expect.

Picked this hotel due to its central location and due to the fact it would be around minus 3 to 5 whilst we were in Bruges so we didn’t want to traipse around too far at night. We had a three night midweek stay in room 1107 which faced the road not the canal (couldn’t afford the extra Euros), noise from the road wasn’t a problem, might be an issue in the summer with the windows open though. The room wasn’t cheap (you have to leave a deposit if you’d like a bathrobe) but having said that neither is Bruges!! The hotel and the room were immaculately clean with plenty of wardrobe space, a really comfy bed with the bathroom being fitted out with a walk in shower and bath. Walk in showers or wet rooms are a good idea especially if there are two of you and you fancy a back scrub - but they never drain quickly enough and that creates the problem of having to mop the floor with whatever is available............. Nobody wants wet feet whilst using the toilet do they! The air-conditioning worked well keeping us nice and toasty during our stay. The staff pleasant and very attentive especially the lady in the bar with the shiny black shoes - breakfast was plentiful with the hot and cold food constantly re-stocked – watch out for the boiled eggs they have them split, one side being 3.5 minutes and the other 10 minutes. However, on our second day rather cheekily they swapped them over and I ended up with a hard egg instead of soft - luckily for me the wife likes an hard egg and she woofed it down. Good selection of bars and restaurants if you turn right outside the front door and walk towards the canal – found a few bars off the beaten track that were welcoming with excellent beers at reasonable prices.

I stayed in this hotel one night with my girlfriend we both were really happy for choosing this one it is very classy. The hotel is inside the city so you don't have to walk much to get there. The Quality room has a unique class, the bed was large and very comfortable.

Excellent location 2 minutes to Brug square and less than 5 minutes to the main square. The hotel bar is beautiful with 3 grand rooms. All the Staff were super friendly especially breakfast staff. Breakfast was good quality and there was pretty much everything to choose from (pastries, cereal, fruit, yoghurt, as well as hot eggs, bacon sausages). Served until 10am. The spa/wellness center was my favourite. After a day of touring and walking around Bruge in the cold the sauna and steam were just what we needed. It would have been nice to use it before breakfast as well but it's only open from 10am-10pm. Bedroom was spacious with comfortable bed. Bathroom was clean with bathtub and shower. Overall excellent hotel highly recommended. The Pictures don't do it justice!

Everything about this hotel was about comfort and warmth, making it so welcoming and homelike. The staff were pleasant, friendly and efficient. Our room was in the old part of the hotel and so comfortable, being much more than just somewhere to sleep. It was a perfect place to celebrate my special birthday and in a central but quiet location, with great options for eating within a couple of minutes. Would go there again in a heartbeat.

Very charming and warm hotel to stay at, located centrally close to the market square with a beautiful atmosphere, clean rooms and kind staff. We will definitely return to this lovely place in Bruges.

I only stayed here for one evening, but everything was great. The rooms are very nice and spacious (I stayed in the new part of the hotel). The hotel staff was very attentive and helpful. I didn't try the breakfast, which was a bit pricey in my opinion, but there are tons of options in the area, so it's probably best that it's optional. It's an excellent place to stay in Bruges.
