We were in a family room and happy with it until we started having toilet problems (it was randomly gurgling when other rooms flushed). Later that evening my son flushed and it nearly overflowed. We told the front desk and were told that because it was Sunday they would have a hard time getting a plumber on premises to look at it. We left the hotel for a short while to give them time to look into it. We came back and someone on staff was doing something to a toilet in a nearby room. That didn't work so they came to our room (at 9:30pm). Please note we have two very young children and it is well part their bedtime at this point. The employee came in with the same vaccum he was using in the other room and ended up splashing dirty toilet water all over me, our bed, the floor, etc. when he was coming through. He then goes into the bathroom and starts vacuuming our toilet. I can't even go in to wash off the toilet water from myself. At this point my husband and I decided we needed a new room because the boys were tired. While he was at the front desk, the room started filling with a horrible sulphur stench. It was so unbearable we had to leave the room immediately. The front desk attendant gave us two new single rooms (as we originally had a very large family room that we paid for and liked). While this was a mediocre solution and not convenient for us as a family with two small kids, we endured this for the rest of our stay. No real apology, no discount or refund.

GREAT location. comfortable beds, very good breakfast included.

Location was perfect. We had the family room which was very large and new.

We were happy to find a place that would house our family of 4 for a reasonable price, and the hotel is definitely centrally located, but in a town with so many charming nooks and cozy hideaways, Martin's Brugge seemed very utilitarian. It was functional and clean and the staff were pleasant, but our rooms felt a bit like a college dormitory.
