I have just returned from a wonderful trip to Brugge and staying at this hotel just made it all the more special. Firstly the location couldn't be better. With a 2 minute walk to the two main squares. It is located directly on the most beautiful part of the canal and you can see this clearly whilst eating breakfast either inside or outside. We stayed in room 35 and it was perfect. It was a standard room but what you get is far from standard. The photos do not do it justice. It felt spacious and luxurious with great views from both windows. Not directly of the canal but it still can be seen. I am sure the canal view rooms are even more spectacular. I was very happy. The staff there cannot do enough and really do make the hotel special. They placed me in a top floor room so that I had the beautiful beams and I am grateful for them helping me with this request. Thank you for a fantastic stay.

Not enough wonderful things to say about this boutique hotel! First, the décor is fabulous. Everything is tastefully done, not least of which includes the fact that there are ORIGINAL Matisse and Botero (one of my favorites!) drawings/paintings all over the hotel! You can imagine my surprise when we walked in and one of the first things I saw was a Botero hanging on the wall - pure heaven! The location is wonderful as well! It is right off the main road, just down from the main square. Everything is within walking distance and nearly everything is reachable within minutes. You enjoy breakfast/drinks overlooking the canal in the most sublime little restaurant. The fireplace is just gorgeous and the buffet is top-notch. The furnishings and the look in the restaurant make it feel like you are dining in yesteryear - and the waitstaff is wonderfully friendly, polite and helpful. We drove and the hotel offers parking just down the street (not super close to the hotel, but within walking distance). My husband dropped me and the luggage off and then went to park. He was back before I was finished checking in. The room was fabulous as well. We over looked the hotel sign and had a sliver of the canal. The room is fitted in soft red and off-white (the walls and bedding) and grey whitewashed doors - it was really beautiful and felt perfect for the look and age of the hotel. The bathroom was luxurious fitted with high-end faucets, shower appliances and towel warmer. Upon leaving, we received a wonderful little box of Belgian sweets to commemorate the stay. You will not go wrong in this amazing little boutique hotel - between the location, staff, furnishings, art and food, it was a perfect little getaway from the crowds of Bruges.

We only spent one night here but came away with a wonderful opinion of the hotel. It's in a wonderful location and easy walking distance to anywhere you'd want to go. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the decor was fabulous!

What a breath of fresh air this hotel is!! We arrived before check-in; having had a bad couple of days prior and we were immediately in a happy place! While our room was not available another quickly was, and during our wait we were cared for and given a delicious cup of coffee and a croissant while we waited in the breakfast dining room. We were given a canal side room that was small but perfectly furnished. Another person (MacRutchik) had recently complained that the tourist boats were loud and caused problems in the canal side rooms. We are so confused...first off the boats are not that loud, second, why are you in your room all day when you have a gorgeous town to explore...and the boats stop at 6pm. They are not bother at all!! It's the only boats on the canal and they are actually quite fun to watch and wave at. We sat on the window ledge for quite some time enjoying them! We also left them open in the evening and they have the middle window equipped with a pull down screen so no bugs can fly in! This little gem of a hotel is smack in the middle of beautiful Brugge, you can't get more in the middle of things. It's lovely, clean and the staff are wonderful! I think the only complaint we had is that our bathroom mirror was made for a giant, tall person...my short partner (5'1") could not even see her forehead let alone her face!!! If ever in the city again this would be my only choice!

The hotel is beautiful and the staff are exceptional! Out of all the hotels we have stayed at, the is by far our best experience! Also the location is excellent. The have a lovely breakfast buffet as well.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights on our trip to Bruges. Our room had a canal side-view on one side and a street/patio view from another window. We found our room to be very peaceful and quiet. The entrance to the hotel is off to the side of a small walkway hidden from the hustle and bustle of the street. Our room was large and decorated beautifully. It really felt like Old World Europe, although the amenities in the room were modern. The bathroom was awesome and included a shower that had multiple water streams, great shampoos/body wash/soap, plenty of thick towels and a high quality hair dryer. I have a lot of curly, long hair and this hair dryer was better than mine at home. The room even had an air conditioner that we needed to use as the temperature got up to 80 degrees Fahrenheit one day. The location could not have been more perfect; step outside and you've got the shops, restaurants right there and the town square with the Bellfry about a block away. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful with all our questions and provided maps to assist us in getting to particular locations. Bruges is fairly small and easy to get around, but the hotel being centrally located really helped. We would often visit a location in the morning and stop off at our hotel for a break before heading back out to another attraction. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel, because we wanted to venture out each day to try local cafes. My only suggestions would be to provide instructions on how to use the air conditioner in the room (the remote for it was confusing) and to also notify guests that they need to put a room key into a specific place to so that you have electricity in the room. This might be something normal in Europe but we had never seen that - hence our call to the front desk that our room had no power. :) But these little things would not change our stay from being excellent. Bruges was amazing and the hotel was the icing on the cake. We really felt like we were in a fairy-tale. I highly recommend this hotel and can't wait to go back and visit again.

I feel badly about rating this hotel so negatively. The staff were absolutely fine, the breakfast was above average, the room I had was lovely. The problem is not with the hotel but that the "canal side" wonderfulness had an unfortunate, and unavoidable down side: Boat after boat from dawn to sundown, filled with 12-18 tourists to whom boat guides blast their commentaries, made it anything but a relaxing hideaway. I thought I'd catch a break when it started to rain, but the boats kept running and an inebriated group settled in an outside covered bar section of the hotel and were cheering (with a bit of a jeering and jarring edge) as each boat motored back to the starting dock a short distance from my room. Though the hotel is indeed picturesque from the outside (as site pictures demonstrate), this is in part because it's lit by an bright spotlight that forces you, inside, to complete close your curtains. So much for waking up to the canal view. To be honest, my advice is to skip Bruges altogether from May through September. The town is truly beautiful, but it's small, so the vast number of tour groups make you feel like you're in a Disneyland version of an old European town rather than actually IN an old European town. If you do go, I'd say a central location is NOT what's ideal. Look for something that isn't in the direct path of all the tours (and the pub-crawlers, since there are plenty of this boisterous variety in a town known for it's beers.) Again, nothing whatsoever wrong with the hotel itself -- although prices are on the high side -- but the overall experience was anything but a trip into the past.

Superb staff and setting. Location is everything here. In fact, the hotel is featured on the signature view of the city on many postcards. You are moments away from the treasures walking distance from the town square, the museums found near the Church of Our Lady and restaurants and shopping in between. Roelf, your host, goes out of his way beyond to ensure that your stay is flawless in every detail. He even went to the store to purchase an item my wife needed during her stay. I would go back knowing that Roelf would take care of us. A superb breakfast provides many options that fortify you for a busy day if sightseeing. Also the staff provided some excellent suggestions for the evening meal. All told location the physical ambiance and the staff jell make this place a must when visiting this beautiful and charming place.

Could not have been happier with this hotel. Very well located and wonderful staff. When we needed to change our schedule last minute, they were very nice to switch us to another day and not charge extra. Even have a private parking garage we could use beyond check out time (25 euro daily). Would definitely stay there again.

My wife and I had never been to Bruges. We arrived by car on the Sunday of the May Day weekend. The crowds in the streets and square were really large,Iwouldn't like to be there in June and July ! The first view of this unique enchanting place on the canal is great. It would have been there centuries ago. We were given room no. 10 which is the room in all of the photos(the two brown windows on the first floor). It is the room that the main actor in "In Bruges" dived into the canal and was of great interest to the main tour barges that passed by every minute or so. It was such wonderful atmosphere.A small room but with everything one needs, especially a wonderfull view of Bruge and the canal. The staff are genuinely friendly ,and extremely helpful for any query at all. There is no bar or restaurant-apparently they closed that some time ago,and kept the gorgeous room exclusively for breakfast and for guests to relax and have a drink. The breakfast is very good, and the room is clean .The bed is very good. Just a magic place to stay, and we have stayed at a lot of top European hotels. It's not luxurious, but we will never forget it. One would think that being in the centre of this incredibly busy tourist town, the nearby restaurants would suffer- not so,the staff at the hotel sent us to several excellent restaurants The Olive Tree and Le Couvert especially spring to mind.
