My husband & I recently spent 4 nights at this hotel with 2 other couples on a Shearings break. The best part of this modern hotel is the lounge & bar area with welcoming fires & comfortable seating. We found the rooms to be slightly shabby in parts, marked floors & furniture etc. They reminded us of a Premier Inn but of a poorer quality. We had breakfast & an evening meal every day during our stay. Both were on a buffet basis which was fine although the hot food was rarely hot. This was because there was a draught coming through from the hotel entrance which we also felt sitting in the dining room ! The NYE gala dinner was far superior to food on other nights & we enjoyed dancing after our meal & celebrating the New Year twice, once on Belgium time & again on UK time ! I particularly enjoyed the lovely selection of bread at breakfast time. We found the staff to be very friendly & mostly efficient although our friends asked for their in-room safe to be fixed three times which was never done. The taxi service into the centre of Bruges was very efficient & cost effective at only €10 for 6 of us. A phone call for the return trip also worked out well. My husband used the sauna but this couldn’t have been very popular as it had to be switched on & he had to return to our room whilst waiting for it to heat up. He found it to be in need of some maintenance as one shower wasn’t working. He thought it was shabby & needed to be refurbished. The gym was fine though. We enjoyed our New Year break in Bruges.

This modern hotel is situated some 3 miles outside of the main part of Bruge and as such it was too far to walk into town. The subsidised taxis however were excellent. We had a breakfast and dinner package which was a buffet style except New Years Eve when we were served at the table. The food was excellent although the buffet could have done with identification of what the food was and if it was suitable for vegetarians. There was no such thing and although you could ask, I felt this was information should have been posted. Staff were all very friendly and helpful.

Clean, (thanks to very good housekeeping staff) functional hotel 30 mins brisk walk from city centre. Hotel offers good deal with local taxi company. Bikes readily available for hire and cycle lanes everywhere so easy to get around; try a pleasant ride along canal to village of Damme. Food generally satisfactory although not always hot enough and please note if evening desserts come from freezer they need to be thoroughly defrosted before putting on counter. As per previous comments from other travellers, kettles would probably be better in rooms so that guests can make either coffee or tea comfortably. Consistently excellent service with a smile from Geerk on Reception, Amelieke who very kindly sorted bikes too and the efficient Restaurant Manager, Petra.

The Velotel Brugge was my first hotel experience on my European tour, so I didn't know what to expect, other than reading other reviews saying that they lacked facilities such as kettles, tea making facilities, bathroom amenities, etc. However, when I entered my room at the Velotel, I was happy to see that tea, coffee, and bathroom amenities were provided. The beds were a little too soft for me and didn't help with my bad back. A more firm and stiffer bed would've been good. The floors are wooden, which adds a different character to the room (while all hotels I've been to had carpet). The bathroom has an automatic motion sensor to turn on the light, which was slightly annoying, since the light would turn off while on the toilet or taking a shower, and I had to wave my hands to turn it back on again. There is no hot water kettle but we could use the coffee making machine for hot water. The only problem is that there was a lot of coffee and milk residue left in the machine, causing the water to appear clouded with bits of brown coffee floating in it. It wasn't the most pleasant of sights so I had to run it a couple of times to clean it. Also, our particular coffee machine seemed to leak water, which went everywhere on the table. The buffet breakfast on the other hand was very good. Even though they are a bit understaffed (only one lady helping out), we were greeted by her with a beaming smile, and were treated to a very sumptuous buffet breakfast. I was most impressed by the different types of bread available. They had baked potato wedges, bacon, scrambled eggs, yoghurt, etc. Certainly, more sumptuous than your traditional "Continental breakfast", so I was quite pleased.

Everyone was very good at there job. overall it was a great experience!! The hotel was excellent, and quiet and away from the hustle of the tourist areas and a little outside of the main Bruges town centre. Breakfast was good but extra cost.

We chose this hotel based on the proximity to Bruges centre on foot, parking and how it looked online. Thankfully we were not disappointed. Enjoyed our stay & we will return. Great selection of local drinks in the bar & even the toiletries in the room were very nice. Easy to walk into the city if wrap up warm :) Pleased to see decaf coffee available too both in the room and bar . Comfy bed so slept extremely well. Little to criticise really! Despite the slightly inconvenient road works outside, the warm welcome at Reception made up for it. Pleased to receive a map and personalised service. Even got keys brought to us ahead of check in at the bar as we arrived early. In summary - a good value place with all you could need

NIce hotel outside Bruges. The room was nice, quiet and with adequate space. From the hotel you can walk to the center of Bruges in 30 minutes. You can park your car near to the hotel. The reception was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the breakfast.

We picked Velotel initially as accomodation in main Centre of Bruges was busy near Christmas. We were really pleased with experience, nice & very helpful staff on arrival, clean & modern Hotel. Parking on site that was wonderful and the walk back into the Centre, no problem at all! We all had a good nights sleep and really pleased with Velotel. If you love Bruges and are stuggling with normal outlets to stay, well worth a try.

Only 1 night but great place to stay best nights sleep comfortable bed and so quiet. Geert was extremely helpful and got our stay off to a brilliant start. Breakfast was brilliant and we'll worth the money. All the staff we met were helpful and polite and the taxi service was brilliant. Thank you all for making our short stay feel like a much longer break. We will be back !!

It's a nice hotel and when i booked was the best price vs rating but it's expensive. You should leave 50€ as deposit. Park to the car. wi-fi signal could be better Expensive breakfast 2km from city center
