Room was tidy, beds were comfy and the shower worked. What more do you need? Good location near all the histrical parts. It wasn't luxury but we knew that anyway. Breakfast was very basic but ok. Overpriced a bit but so is everything in bruges
I know that this is a budget hotel but budget does not have to mean dirty , shabby or unwelcoming . We did not get the rooms we had book and were just told they had already been taken . We had booked two months ago . The receptionist was not welcoming or helpful . The room was very small with minimal bathroom facilities not cleaned over our three night stay . The whole place needs redecorating , there is scuffed paint . Holes in the walls , broken tiles etc etc . The breakfast was good with the exception of no butter .
Sad to say this stay at the hotel was uninspiring and disappointing. Arrived to find the two ground floor rooms that I had requested and been given were assigned to other guests. On finding the email and going down to reception to show them, the girl only answered the phone at reception not even coming out to see me. Rude! All she could say was sorry, guests are already in those rooms again and again. Rooms were dingy and needing upgrading. Holes in ceilings and grubby. Cleaning was minimal with duvet being straightened and bins emptied. Bathrooms not cleaned properly during our 3 day stay. We were here two years ago and quite different. We won’t be back. I even responded to email stating that we had the rooms 11 and 12 assigned after being put elsewhere and to date no response. VERY DISAPPOINTED
My gf and I stayed in Canalview over the bank holiday weekend and had a relatively good experience of this hotel. We’d read some horror stories on here about the toilet/shower facilities but we were happily surprised with ours as we had a separate room with these facilities so I guess it must be luck of the draw on which room you get. Nonetheless the room was relatively small, but was clean and tidy. We were opposite the lift which meant that when anyone was coming in/out of the lift it would be quite noisy. The breakfast was quite goodand provided cereal/bread/eggs/coffee/juice. Overall we had a good stay but I’d suggest trying to find somewhere cheaper as it’ll probably be as good if not better quality. If you’re not that fussy and want a hotel in a great location then this is a good option.
This was my second stay at the hotel and I can honestly say i would book again, the room was small but perfect for a central base. The bed was comfy and slightly larger than a standard double. Our room over looked the canal on the lower floor and it was lovely to sit by the window and watch the boat trips go by. The bathroom is a small pod attached to the room so if your looking for more privacy then this isn't the hotel for you. Saying that it has everything you need, shower, loo, basin and hairdryer and was perfectly adequate for us. the breakfast is basic but good and had things like, boiled eggs, ham, cheese, breads, croissants, jam and had lots of tea and coffee. The hotel is in a great location for walking to the main square and from here you can find everything you will need to make your visit to Brugge special.
It’s a budget hotel, so you get budget quality. The receptionist on arrival was very friendly and cheerful, the room wasn’t very big but I don’t go to Bruges to spend every waking moment in my hotel room so I’m not sure why people find the size an issue, it’s more than adequate for a short break. The shower ‘cubicle’ in the room had a few issues (the plumbing) and the privacy isn’t for shy people or couples who are not able to be themselves with each other but for me and my wife it wasn’t a problem. Great window that opened completely on both sides to look at the canal and wave to the passing tour boats. Overall a good base for a small break to a beautiful city.
The hotel location is amazing, we had a canal view and it was amazing. The staff here is equally as amazing, always so lovely and kind. The complimentary breakfast, is also delicious! It’s very good! The rooms?? Well?? It is manageable. The bathrooms seem like they are from an airplane, very small and all plastic. Which, ok, whatever, except you don’t really have a ton of privacy as the doors are glass and frosted that don’t close fully, lol. The room sizes are good. Seems clean but seems like they are in the midst of renovations. Or the reno’s are haphazardly done? Not sure. It also seems as though we can hear a lot of what our neighbours are saying. Would I stay here again? If I had to choose between a place along the canal that was $100 more, I would spend the money, but only because the room was less desirable here, everything else was great.
What may be quirky, or even charming, in a room that costs 50 EU per night is annoying (or disgusting) when that room costs +110 per night. We stayed in room 28 for two nights. This room strongly resembled a storage room under the stairs that was converted by a “do-it-yourself-er”. Ceiling was approx 6.5 ft tall, and shorter than that in the tiny, prefab shower. Carpet was of outdoor variety, laid on top of concrete floor, worn and obviously stained despite dark color. Lighting was very limited, and all fixtures were mismatched. Wifi was free, but signal was weak and intermittent. Breakfast was typical, OK but available only 2 hrs each day. On the plus side - location is good, and the staff was nice, but still can’t make up for the poor value here. My advice to travelers: avoid this hotel, unless: 1. You can negotiate the price to 50 EU or so 2. Your only other option is to sleep in your car (unless you have a really nice car).
The reception is manned for only a few hours per day which is probably fine if no problem arises. In our case the triple radiator in the bathroom did not work and apparently could not be fixed during our stay. The water in the shower was lukewarm so showering was a very uncomfortable experience. The receptionist referred our problem to the manager who wasn't on the premises so we couldn't speak to him/her directly. The reply was that the matter was out of the hotel's control and there was nothing that could be done. We felt that in that case, some compensation should be due to us.We paid £100 per night and we paid on arrival. Unfortunately the receptionist was not empowered to do that as we had already paid! and of course the manager was nowhere to be seen. We were so frustrated by this treatment that we sent a formal complaint to the hotel when we returned home. We had no reply.
We stayed here one night and sadly I was glad about that. We spent 104€ incl. breakfast and if we would have stayed longer and not just one night and only came in to sleep I would’ve complained. The room was tiny, the bathroom resembled an airplane bathroom without a door that provides privacy (happily I was there with my partner anyway). The internet sucked, if it would’ve been “free” (104€€€€) I would’ve complained here to. We both got thrown out of the WiFi every minute and it took for ever to connect back. The view and the location however are perfect for sightseeing!
