My friend and I have been to this hotel a few times and always liked it, and went back 3 weeks ago. The hotel in general was ok, but the bedroom was awful. There were only two coat hangers in the wardrobe for the two of us, and a bit of the wardrobe door had obviously been cut so that the door of it could open over the bed. There were two small cushion sized pillows and that was all. Normally hotels will put extra ones in a cupboard in case they're needed, but no. The windowsill was covered in dead flies, which were still there when we left. This hotel needs a visit from the Hotel Inspector, she'd have a fit. Won't be back.
We had booked this hotel for 2 nights. We left the first night at 4 a.m. due to bed bug infestation. What a nightmare!!! I'm very angry and upset with this hotel for ruining our trip to Bruges. Thank God Expedia came through for us and got us our of there in the middle of the night and relocated us to another hotel willing to take us in that late. When we first arrived, we were given room 16 a small standard room. As always, before I unpack in any hotel, I always check for bed bugs. Right away I found black markings all around the bedboard and I found a large live bed bug crawling on the wall. I called reception immediately and they came to our room, took the bug and apologized. They transfered us to an upgraded room across the building to room 207. Right away, I saw the black markings around the head board but did not see any bugs. We lifted the matress and found white powder below the bed e everywhere which was obvious it was bug poison. We thought maybe this room would be okay since it was treated. Well we were wrong!!! That night we fell asleep for about 2 hours when my husband woke up yelling and said something was on his back. He killed a bed bug and blood came out. We found 3 more bed bugs in the sheets and 2 on the walls. We took a cup and collected them to take a picture. That point we called reception and no answer. They say the reception is closed at 9 p.m. but call 300 for an emergency but no one answered. That's when we decided to call Expedia which we booked with and explained our situation. They tried several times to reach someone to resolve the situation and no one would answer. They decided to relocate us immediately. Do not stay at this hotel and if you do its at your own risk. Bed bugs are no laughing matter. I'm completely disgusted.
Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. Room isn’t cleaned on a daily basis but the bed is made. Bed is comfortable, large bathroom. We had room 10 which is the Jr suite overlooking the canal. The canal is literally 3 feet below the window. Tour boats drive by constantly throughout the day. This didn’t bother us, but it might bother some people. Very quiet at night. There is no air conditioning and we were there on some very hot days so the choice at night was either open the window to the air and the mosquitoes, or keep the window shut and be hot. I would stay here again.
Stayed at this B&B the weekend it is really lovely we had the quadruple room with view over the river amazing. You can get here from the airport on the number 6 bus costing 3 euro our you can walk which we did take around 30 min. Room was lovely and clean beds very good TV with good selection of channels. Quick check in ans staff are very helpful and informative. Breakfast is simple couple of choice of cereals, breads, cheese, ham, eggs, pancakes, yogurts, fruits and sweet breads unlimited tea, coffee and juice and water. You are only a 5 min walk from the main square the bars and restaurants just across the road are on the river with lots of outside sitting the food is very good and they do fantastic waffles this B&B is great value a little hidden gem. As for Petras comment about the breakfast I am a real coffee snob and the coffee is fine you can eat as much as you like at breakfast till 10:30 am why should the hotel pay for your lunch a bit cheeky I think you should buy your own.
Just back from a lovely weekend. First visit to Hotel Ter Reien and what a find. Great location with fab views across the canal. Travelled with 3 friends , so had a family room. Really spacious , clean , very comfy beds, plenty of hot water. Staff really friendly and helpful. 5 minutes walk from the main square so really handy location. Breakfast is buffet style but really lovely, continental style and plenty . Bus stop just down the road no 6 or 16 takes you to the train station and they run every 10mins. Really worth a visit...were already planning our next trip
Really liked staying here on canal only 5 minute walk to the center and main sites. Free luggage room but it isn't secure and anyone can walk in off the street or in the hotel and take your stuff. Our room was medium size and modern and clean. Bathroom was very large but cold b/c no heater in there. No a/c either for summer time. The bed was soft and clean but the pillows are awful. Felt like they filled a pillow case with cotton balls. Loved having outlets next to both sides of the bed. The breakfast was great but there are no hot eggs or hot meat so mainly carbs. The warm crepes that I filled with cold meat and cheese and the fresh crescents were great.
I visited here last year with 6 friends, we booked 3 rooms- 2 twin and 1 triple. We were very impressed all the rooms were of good size, room rate was a bargain and hotel in a good location. The breakfast was basic but did the job. This year me and 4 friends returned for 3 nights we had two rooms- both were much smaller, the triple was not really 3 single beds it was a double and a single. The toilet/ shower-rooom door was in one room like a saloon door and the other just a slide door, not much privacy!! There was only one totally flattened pillow on the bed. The staff were very friendly, breakfast was good though I would recommend getting down early as fresh bread goes quickly. Price wise it is still excellent it cost us 570 euros for 2 rooms for 3 nights breakfast included. I would recommend if you book and are after a triple ask for room 211 and a twin ask for room 17.
We stayed in a fine room for four people. Location was great. The disappointment came with breakfast. Very bad coffee from a machine. And when we wanted to take one roll for our cycling tour and asked for a plastic bag - the waiter told the reception to charge us extra tour packages. So i had one roll for breakfast and paid 7 euros for another roll. The most expensive roll in my life. And the others in my company were charged as well. Pity, we would gladly have paid some euros extra if this was communicated correctly in the beginning.
Stayed here for three nights with my husband on a little break to Bruges. This is a 2-star hotel and I paid £187 (€207) for B&B in a Comfort Double Room. Like everything else in Bruges it was quaint and lovely, beams, the lot! Lovely big bed, TV, wardrobe, clean bathroom and hot water - all you need! Breakfast was basic but very nice - continental meats and cheeses, rolls, croissants, eggs, pancakes, fruit and lovely tea/coffee and juices. We filled up most mornings and didn't need lunch until 2pm most days, it was perfectly lovely. An excellent location also, five minutes walk if that to the Markt and close to useful little supermarkets, pubs, antique shops and - as its name suggests - right on the canal. Thank you to all the staff at Canalview for a wonderful stay.
After looking at many hotels in Brugge that were on the canal, we decided on this one as it is budget friendly for sure. It's a great starting base and is a 10 minute walk to all the main sights. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was also a good way to start the day.....breakfast and WiFi are included in the rates. The only thing I would note- they list room 10 as the suite and although it is a large/nicer room and right on the canal....by American standards it is not a suite but was still a lovely room. This hotel works for a trip to Brugge!
