Fairfield Inn by Marriott Binghamton

The Fairfield was perfect for our four night stay in Binghamton. Every single member of the staff was friendly and helpful, the room was beautiful, and the hotel is convenient to everything. Having two restaurants {one on each side of the hotel} also made it more attractive to us.

On our 'road trip' to show our grandson Howe Caverns, in Howes Cave, NY and Animal Adventure Park in Harpursville, NY, we stayed overnight at a Fairfield Inn in Binghamton. Never stayed at one before and was delighted with the cleanliness and spaciousness of the rooms. Very well located, right off the highway, it was easy to find a restaurant for dinner close by. A major plus was the pool and Jacuzzi. Clean and inviting. Our grandson (6 1/2) took full advantage after dinner and went right to sleep afterwards! Breakfast was predictable, but it came with the room, and therefore saved us that time. We were able to get up and get out in time to beat the lines at the Animal Park!! I would certainly stay at another Fairfield Inn, now that I know more about them.

The hotel looked clean. Though there were a few areas needing better swept. But as I was nearing my room on the top floor, there was a fowl odor. Once I got into my room the smell was even in my room. I couldn't figure out what the odor was for the longest time, until I used the bathroom near the pool. Under the sink in the bathroom was a bug glue trap. That instantly told me the fowl strong odor I was smelling in the hall and in my room was spray I have encountered before when places have been sprayed for bugs especially roaches. The bathroom in my room was really small. I was concerned with the one person I had with me with stability issues. I will not be staying at this hotel again.

The staff was very helpful and polite upon check in. Our room was on the 3rd floor facing the back of the hotel. Wrong side to be on, lots of road noise from RT 81. Try for a room facing Front St. The room was clean and comfortable but the bathroom was small. The tub also could use a very good scrubbing though. The pool and hot tub were closed for cleaning the first 2 nights. When it opened, which was our last night, the pool bottom still looked like it could use more work. The popcorn and snow cone machine in lobby were not used while we were there. Breakfast was ok, as good as other hotels. The area was clean and the lady working the area was nice and receptive to our needs. Would we stay there again, probably but with a room on the other side.

We are used to the Marriott standards, so we expect cleanliness and this place was clean. Towels were fresh, but sheets were scratchy. The bathroom was annoyingly small. The door just missed the toilet. No racks for the towels. Most annoying was the trip from the fourth floor to the first floor for ice. That seems "cheap." Most hotels have ice on each floor. Lastly, my wife really expects muffins for breakfast. It is a Marriott item. Not here. Maybe they were out..... Others have mentioned cookies, popcorn and snow cones. Not on this stay.....

Great hotel, very up dated and clean. Had a pop corn & snow cone machine along with choc. chip cookies which was a big hit with my son. The room has a DVD player and they have complimentary dvds to barrow. Hot breakfast options including waffles, eggs and turkey sausage and the regular items. One side of the hotel has a Apple bees and the other side had a Crackle Barrel, easy to walk to. Gas station right down the street and just off rt 81.

When we arrived there was garbage overflowing from all the outside trash bins. This should have been our first clue. When I mentioned it politely to the lobby staff she seemed to not care and didn't really say anything. The hotel was generally ok but the staff wasn't very helpful or nice and the place needed a really good deep cleaning. The pool surface was brownish and the tiled pool area floor was very dirty with sand and mud!? Our room was ok but the bathtub could have used a good scrubbing. I definitely agree with the review about the bathroom being incredibly small. Bath time was very challenging with two children. It was quiet at night and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast was slightly edible but the whole area could have used a good cleansing. There were bits of food all over the counter and the containers for the oatmeal toppings were really crusty and sticky. The lady in charge of the breakfast area was more interested in watching tv and talking with the front desk lady. Overall the hotel is ok but if you have another option I would stay somewhere else.

We arrived shortly after our 4 pm check-in time. Quick and friendly check in, with warm cookies in the lobby area was a nice plus. The hotel has a nice updated look, and our kids enjoyed the pool. Room was a little small, but our bathroom was tiny. When in the bathroom, you couldn't open the door to exit without, positioning yourself between the toilet and vanity. The clearance between the door and toilet was about 2 inches. This would up becoming problematic during our stay, when trying to get my small children out of the shower as well. Not sure if all rooms are set up this way, but it was really annoying. Would stay again otherwise, so in the future I would check with the front desk to see if there are rooms with a different layout. In addition, the area experienced a power outage during our stay, and the front desk was helpful, providing guests with flashlights and bottled water.

We had a very pleasant stay. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel was quiet. We had a complimentary breakfast with a nice variety of breakfast foods. It was very conveniently located right of the Interstate however the downside was that we could hear the traffic. I would stay again.

Really nice medium sized hotel. The design of the hotel lobby and room is modern while elegant. In fact this is the nicest Fairfield Inn & Suites we have seen in years. The room and bathroom were large, spacious and clean. Sleep quality was good. The room has a fridge and a microwave which was very convenient. Customer service was good, in fact when we arrived late at night Bea was at the front desk and she was great, she was helpful and friendly and really exemplified what customer service should be like. The breakfast buffet had many options and was tasty. The location was very convenient, close to the highway so we can drive to anywhere. We had an 8 hour trip and we decided to stop half-way through, and when we originally read the reviews we weren’t sure if to choose the hotel or not but after staying the night there we’re absolutely sure we will return to this hotel as the stay was very pleasant and if we’re in the area again we will return here for sure.
