Bristlecone is your basic budget motel in Big Pine with some rooms including a kitchenette. The rooms were basic and beds comfortable. I was surprised to see a good size flat screen TV with lots of channels. The wall heater wasn't working, so they provided a space heater.

We booked here after reading the reviews and wanting somewhere between Yosemite and Death Valley, this place ticked the boxes. Super comfy beds, clean and tidy and helpful staff both on check in and check out. I wouldn’t stay here for days at a time but perfect for a night or two, especially if you need a space for 5 people.

Booked this motel in transit to Vegas from SF. Two twins plus one single fits 5 persons comfortably. There is dining table and big table on the back for dish washing. The room itself is huge. Very roomy. Very recommended.

Was driving from Death Valley to Yosemite via Tioga pass and the Sierras, and just needed somewhere budget friendly and basic, but not dirty or horrible . The room is compact, and the area is quiet. I had to go into the gas station to check in and checkout which was unusual, but it was hassle free and quick. The room was extremely hot when I got in, and took a long time to cool down with the noisy air conditioning machine but no big deal. Although the town in scorching hot during the day, it cools off at night so didn't have to keep the aircon on. The town itself is in a beautiful area with mountains all around. Accommodation in the eastern Sierras is VERY pricey in summer, so this is a great alternative.

Bristlecone Manor Motel This is a decent motel but does have its negative and therefore I only gave it 3 stars. The stay was in June 2017 and the outside temperature during the day was warm, but the nighttime temperatures are cool as there was snow on the mountains behind the motel. The 'heat' which seems to be propane was not working of turned off at the propane tank, thus taking a shower or getting up in the middle of the night was 'cool'. The location is good as it is off of US-395 and there is a gasoline station and a 'general store' which has food, fishing and hunting gear, tools, {mini ACE type hardware store}, and tons of other 'traveler' stuff. The motel does NOT provide free or any breakfast, but there is a good and reasonable priced little restaurant within walking distance. The motel office was closed and the sign-in registration was at the General Store. Paperwork got somewhat confused, but the personnel were friendly and did their best to straighten it out to our satisfaction. Unfortunately, I only could give the place three stars due to the defective toilet that ran {leaked water] all night; the bed that had two dips with a rise in-between {they claimed these were new; NOT !}, small main room, and no television guide. Overall, a bit overpriced for what it is, but generally satisfactory for a night's stay. The great part was that several antique cars showed up and gave us a show for a few minutes.

We have spent a lot of time in the road while visiting America doing our road trip. This place was great. Really clean and comfortable. Very close to the restaurants. It is no frills as advertised but it's has all you need and is well maintained. We slept so well ready for more driving. We would recommend to travellers visiting this part of the world.

We were pleasantly surprised to find this place after a long day of driving. Check in was at the convenience store next door, and 2 employees were eager to see we had a comfortable stay. Mom and pop places like this can be a real gem if maintained well and managed right, and this place fits the bill. The rooms aren't big but are clean and in good order.

Everything you could expect from a cozy motel next to the highway. In this case beautiful Highway 395. The owners and staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was clean. The bed very comfortable. Fridge and microwave in the bathroom. The under-the-window heater/AC was the usual noisy monstrosity.

All you could want at a good price. Store is across the way. Restaurants nearby. Quite and peaceful even thought it is on the main raod. Clean and comfy beds. Parking spot right in front of the rooms. And they use real keys!!

Nice and clean room, comfy bed, clean soft towels and microwave and fridge and dog friendly. Really nice little motel for a reasonable price and a couple doors down a very nice diner that has great service and food with a pet friendly patio. I plan on staying here again.
