The room was quite small as was the bathroom. Pretty quiet with good value for the money.
I really liked the location. It was a little more rustic than I thought it would be from the pictures. I think two hundred dollars a night was too much money. I like that it was pet friendly and it was pretty much perfect for our dog. She's very mellow but the room was a bit run down. The heater was wonderful and the bathroom and hot showers were nice too.
The motel had no staff on the site when I arrived. I had a potential issue with being locked out of the room - turns out I got through a window. Separate from that, I left several voice mails as I was traveling to get a confirmation that the motel was even open during Covid, et all. They called back HOURS later, to get payment of course. Then didn't get payment details right and had to have me call them to get payment. Never saw a person at the motel. Key was left for me before the office was actually supposed to be closed. Never called me back or inquired about key incident. Not sure they would have. If the window hadn't been cracked (an issue in itself, no?) I may have had a major issue. Have a person to respond to customers if you are going to be open.
The new annex was spacious and modern. Terrific for a family visit.
Very nice and clean for the price. Would stay again.
I was only in Bishop for about 13 hours, on my way to Tahoe, but the El Rancho was the most affordable place I found to sleep for a few hours that didn't also look like I might meet bedbugs. The room was cute, tidy and very recently updated — so recently that there was a strong paint-drying smell, but I ran the fans all night and it wasn't much of an issue. I got in after midnight anyway, so there wasn't really anyone to complain to. The key was in the box outside, as I'd been advised, and in the morning I snagged some great scones at the bakery down the street. Not bad!
I love in hot weather AC is nice n low n cool n in cold weather heater is on so I'm set as soon as I get in the room. Also pet friendly. I've stayed in many room arrangements here. This room was smaller but adequate for me a solo traveler- full bed, Tv fridge microwave, chair table n AC plus celeing fan. Bath had amenities. The ceiling fan was very squeaky n so was the bed but those eyes minor compared to having great AC in hot hot temps.

Sorry David, Unfortunately we opened 2 weeks ago and due to Covid-19 we are opened full time at Trees Motel .5 miles from El Rancho and part time at El Rancho. We have a phone # on the door and our G.M. Jason lives across the street. We are very sorry and hopefully business will pick up and we can open full time. We hope you give us another chance.
