Hotel Indigo Berlin – Alexanderplatz4.5 out of 5.0

I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Indigo. It's a couple of blocks from Alexanderplatz which is a main square in Berlin and a transit hub which can take you easily to other parts of the city. The lobby and room were both comfortable and inviting. I spent five nights here and really felt by the end I really knew the reception staff. I appreciated their help in providing directions and explaining clearly how the specific train tickets work.
The Indigo brand is IHG's ploy to tap the growing market for boutique hotels. They have not done a bad job with this smallish hotel within easy walking distance of the Alexanderplatz transport hub. Interesting decor and generally friendly staff (with the exception of a couple of over-serious people I encountered in the the breakfast room and bar). Rooms are comfortable. No major complaints although it did take a two requests to get a small problem solved. Good for business travellers visiting the area or tourists exploring the former eastern sector of Berlin. A rather strange feature is that it shares a building with the Holiday Inn (an IHG mass market brand), and there is even a connecting corridor. So brand identity seems less important than operating efficiency...
Best location to get Berlin vibes, sightseeing, do some shopping and go through every transportaion available to tour the city Hotel room was perfect, spacious, nicely designed and close to eveything
If we had left a day earlier, my review would be so different. The staff were fantastic and helpful, the room was clean, the bed superbly comfortable and the location was nice and central with good access to public transport. Our room overlooked a street with frequent trams but the double-glazing was so efficient that only a low sound like a high wind was audible. With the air-con switched on for ventilation, our first two nights were blissful. On the final night, however, there was no air-con, only warm air came through the vent, making the room stuffier and stuffier. Opening the window helped but the noise of the trams made sleep almost impossible. When we queried this arrangement the receptionist was very apologetic but said that the weather had turned cool (September) and some people had requested heating - so the system had been switched to heating and no a/c was now available. Ear plugs had been provided but this was just not a satisfactory solution. I was faced with a choice, either I had the window open and be kept awake by the terrible, constant racket of the trams or I had the window shut and stew in a stuffy airless room - some choice. A mostly sleepless night ensued. Once the air-con is not available I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone who likes a cool room and fresh air for sleeping. I couldn't believe that turning the thermostat down and down seemed to have no impact on the temperature of the air coming through the vent.
Loved this hotel. Its 5 minutes from the U-bahn / Bahn, tram stations next to it. Great shopping opportunities 5 min away. Can get anything from groceries to dresses. My favorite Desigual is there too. The room is small, but great design, so look bigger. The bed was heavenly comfortable. Silk bedding, just wanted stay in it forever. Bathroom good equipped. TV had channels in English too. Small fridge. Wifi superb. Air con silent. You can hear the trams out off the street, but I was ok with it, was really just very silent and my husband who was worried, slept all night good (we were on the 4th floor) The Bahn / tram is from the airport Shonnenfeld 25 minutes and the price is 3.40Euro per person. The tram go every 30 minutes R7 and R14. Previous stay we were near airpot, but this time this hotel better selection even is in downtown. Our flight was in 8.30am, left the hotel at 7.15 and "no problema".
We booked Hotel Indigo for our trip to Berlin, mainly for its location and good reviews it had received in the past. It didn't disappoint. It's a cool hotel, nice staff, very clean and the breakfast superb. Would highly recommend
Fabulous hotel, great value and location. Arrived late on so got a taxi from the airport (42euros) the underground is cheaper but at midnight we couldn't be bothered. Friendly welcome on check in, lovely reception area and bar. Room was amazing, so much better than I imagined. Very modern, super clean and plenty of space for your case. Less space to hang up clothes or put them away but not a problem for 3 nights. Lovely bathroom, great towels and lots of them! Loved the touch of the robe. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room as well as a mini bar. Room service also available. Location was ideal, right by Alexanderplatz so plenty of public transport around but we chose to walk. Everything easily within walking distance, but we did end up walking 24 miles over 2 days so not everyone might fancy that! Would definitely stay here again we loved it
Booked this hotel for quick break in August. Out of airport straight on to bus for AlexPlatz then few hundred yards to hotel, couldn't have been easier. Friendly and helpful welcome. Slightly concerned about the room having read reviews, pleasantly surprised, great decor, very clean, everything needed neatly supplied in room and great views. Not massive but who comes to Berlin to stay in their room? Yes traffic noise but then you can use one of the transport systems around. If you have got the most out of Berlin then you should be too tired to hear anything. Stop complaining about this little gem and get on with your holiday!!
The buffet breakfast is the most plentiful I ever found. Hard to find an item missing. Fresh and tasty. Room service is excellent. The cleanliness is very obvious and sparkling, in the room, at breakfast, everywhere. The hotel is modern and very well kept. Most of the staff was very courteous and helpful, certainly polite. The regular room is super small. They have rooms on the street side and rooms on the inner court side. The hotel is located on a narrow street but with busy day and night traffic of two tram lines passing both ways, unbelievably noisy. We moved after the first night to a "deluxe" room, same floor, court side, for an additional fee. We found the room much larger and the noise problem was solved. The deluxe room is an exact replica of the regular as far as simple design, lacking any charm, but larger. We could only open one window to a narrow extent. The wall between the shower and the rest of the room is made of glass with a big art application leaving some minor parts uncovered and transparent (identical in both rooms). The bathroom ventilation fan in both rooms is very weak. The hotel is located 7-10 minutes walk from Alexanderplatz. The trams passing-by do not have a station near the hotel. Alexanderplatz is offering good transport choices in underground, trams and buses, and a wide range of shopping opportunities. However, to my surprise, the huge space is unbelievably ill kept, not clean, and lacking the chic typical of most European squares/plazas. The open space in Alexanderplaz looks an extension of the train station in a negative way. I do not know if the hotels in other parts of the city are more expensive but I would not recommend this area. It is a center but not the center of the city and not as nice as other ares are.
We spent a weekend in Berlin last month, this hotel is really nice and comfortable. Rooms a small but very cozy, you will get everything you need, comfortable bed and nice clean shower. For little extra you can have delicious breakfast buffet downstairs.
