What a nice place-gorgeous scenery, warm pool, spa, super clean rooms. Gathered here with extended family for a reunion. Great place for the kids to run around in the yard while the adults gathered for food and drinks.
We went to Semiahmoo Resort 10 years ago for a convention. It was awful. The service was terrible, the staff was unhappy and facilities were lacking. 10 years later and new management have helped them, but they are still falling a little short. The staff was very energetic and happy, but couldn't deliver on their smiles. They have upgraded the property, so it is nicer, but they operate on "island time" meaning that they take their time getting to the customer. They are close to getting it right but not quite there yet.
Fantastic facility for your business conference or meeting. Several conference type rooms that can be divided into specific room size for your needs. For the family enjoy tennis courts, pool, volleyball and yard games. Walking and bike trails to enjoy the water scenes. Restaurant availability on site too. Your room will be comfortable and meet your slumber needs.
The initial check-in is relatively smooth at any time. The shuttle service from the two golf courses is excellent. The rooms are dated, hallways dated. The service at the restaurants goes from good to neglectful just depending on who your server is. The food at each place is very good and the price point is not quite in the right zone for the products. The fitness centre is located on the second floor above the pool area, there is a small running track and various equipment(spin, tread) but it is dark and very little air flow in the summer month. There is a little corner store on the site which has food, ice cream and some supplies and limited opening times. You can walk for miles/kms at low tide. if you like to look at the ocean take the ocean side some have balconies.
Very nice resort for families. Pleasant staff assisted with delay in having room ready upon check-in. Beds were extremely comfortable with lovely linens and pillows. Beaches on property great for sea shelling and walks with great views.
Staff were fantastic but hotel wasn't prepared to take in guests at check-in time of 4:00. We pre-checked in at 11:30 and were told if a room was cleaned early we would get a phone call. At 4:00 PM we hadn't received a call and there was a line-up out the door. We waited poolside until 5:30 and phoned the front desk to be advised that our room was being cleaned and to come in another 20 min. After waiting 10 min in line we finally received our room key only to find a very dirty toilet that hadn't been cleaned. We were given a different room and a $75 credit towards dinner for our inconvenience and the staff were incredibly friendly so we were able to salvage our anniversary getaway with a great dinner on the pier. It was the BC Day Aug long weekend with a larger than normal turnover of guests for a Sunday that they were obviously not prepared for. Thankfully they let early arrivals use the pool and spa until their rooms are ready so we didn't care about not getting into the hotel early - but we weren't expecting two hours after posted check-in.
We decided to do a one night getaway to Semiahmoo. I had heard great things and was looking forward to staying at this luxury hotel. I was looking forward to giving the resort 5 stars, but it didn't quite reach it. We stayed in a classic executive suite. It had a king size bed, pull out couch, a fridge, small bar area, two TVS, and bathrobes. I had ask in advance to have extra sheets and pillows for the pull out couch. I also asked for extra towels. Before arriving I received a text notifying me that my room was ready and the above requests had been met and were in my room. However, upon arriving at my hotel this was not the case. Nothing had been placed in the room. After calling reception they quickly took care of it. The room was nice, but there were two main things that were missing to make it be great. First the bedroom does not have a door separating it from the living room. Second and honestly the main reason this room is not a 5 star is the windows only have blinds, it does not have black out curtains or any sort of curtain. There is also a skylight above the pull out couch. I understand this makes it looks nicer, but is a terrible design for the morning sun. By 6am the entire living rom was flooded with sunlight even with the blinds closed. I was hoping to have the kids sleep in, but that was impossible. I would suggested adding black out curtains it would really help. Since this is a luxury resort I expected to see a valet and someone to help with luggage, but apparently the resort does not have designated people for this, they are all trained it. Nevertheless, someone should be upfront to greet guests and ask how they can help. I had to search someone out. On the plus side having your car valet is complimentary. The reception check in staff were very friendly. The grounds are beautiful! The hotel holds Summer BBQs on Friday and Saturday nights along the waterfront. The view is simply gorgeous. If you are staying one of these nights be sure to book this in advance. Food is served from 6:30 - 8:30 and live music is supposed to play till 9:30, but it ended at 8:30 when we attended this past Friday night. The food all tasted good. My daughter loved the hamburgers. The food line could have been set up better. They ran out of condiments and buns while we waited in line. Instead of having someone in charge of keeping everything stocked the cooks kept having to leave to restock the items. That part was disorganized. Each table was numbered and set up as a picnic with paper plates and such. Our table didn't have any so I had to ask several different people for plates, napkins, forks......It took a while, but I finally got some. The resort also offers complimentary s'mores with bonfires on the beach. We absolutely loved this! We could not have asked for a better way to spend a summer evening. It was excellent! If at some point the basket of s'mores ingredients runs out you can ask a server to refill it. Don't miss this!! In the morning we enjoyed the breakfast buffet. It wasn't overly priced which was nice and the spread was amazing. French toast, eggs, potatoes, hot and cold meats, pastries, cereal, yogurt, pizza, and fresh fruit. Probably one of the best hotel buffets I've seen. They also have indoor and outdoor seating along the water. The resort has a spa, I didn't get a service done because they were booked up, but I did take a tour. If I return I would like to have a service done to give a better review of the spa. As a guest however you can use the sauna and steam room. The pool is large with a fair amount of lounge chairs. There's also a Jacuzzi. WiFi is complimentary. All in all this resort is very nice and I would return. Keep on traveling!
I spent a week alone at Semiahmoo and had a great time, so much so that just a couple of days after returning home, I am going back with my kids. I was particularly pleased to meet Heidi Orr and Susan Hudson, who bartend at the Packers Bar, at the resort. They are the nicest ladies! Personable, always smiling and professional! Can't wait to be back and see them!
I hadn't stayed at this place in many years, but recently took advantage of favorable pricing on Expedia and stayed 2 nights while on a business trip to Bellingham. Pros: Beautiful resort setting, among the best in Washington The inn common areas and guest rooms are quite nice and most have a nice view Great food and drinks and excellent service at Packer's Cons: The bathrooms are very small and badly in need of updating. The tub/shower combination looks to be about 30 years old and the water pressure was very weak and the shower heads are not adjustable (they probably didn't have such a thing in 1985). Overall the bathrooms are about on a par with Motel 6. Not what you would expect in a hotel in this price range. I did not get any maid service, in spite of being out of my room from 7am to 8pm, and I had not left a do not disturb sign out. At checkout the front desk person was very apologetic and waived my resort fee
We live in Bellevue and this was the perfect little weekend getaway. Friendly staff, great views, clean room. There was an Indian wedding the weekend we stayed and while it was louder than we would have liked, the staff did a great job enforcing quiet hours right as it hit 10. We'll definitely be back
