Spruce Grove Inn

Worst hotel experience ever. Both this hotel and the voyager are absolute dives. They are old outdated and their business practices are very shady. I booked at the spruce grove inn. It is a pretty sad space but seems nice if you see the voyager. That place should be shut down. Only reason I saw it was they tried to switch me to that hotel because no one in their right mind would ever book it twice. It may be ok for students or people who want to graduate from a tent! But not for Anyone used to a decent place to sleep. I took one look at the room at Voyager and demanded a room at the supposedly better Spruce Grove Inn. I would say that it's a 2 out of 5 and the voyager is a one. If I had not seen the voyager then the spruce grove is a one. Spruce Grove Inn looks ok from outside but It's like lipstick on a pig.

I stay at a lot of Canalta Owned Properties, and I am pleased to see they own this one now. I think Canalta will bring it up to standards soon. Great hotel free inside parking beds are really in need of updating. I was a bit disappointed not all rooms had fridge and microwaves in them, but I hope this is something that will change. I enjoy Banff a lot, and will defiantly go back to this hotel again. Dealt with a young man named Yuma he was great and really friendly. I did notice that after 11 the front desk closed I found this very strange.

This property is way overpriced and really needs to be renovated! The room we stayed in was a king supreme and it was so small you had to change in the hallway. We shared pool and sauna facilities with the hotel next door and it was a dump. You entered on the bottom floor of the Voyageur Inn next door and the floors are muddy and worn out. The cost of the room included a hot breakfast which again we had to go to the Voyageur and it wasn't worth the bother.

I stayed here twice now once with my husband at the time and once with my mom ! Both times quite enjoyable . Parking was easier then expected with a larger truck . Will go back I enjoyed it and the staff was kind and friendly ! The only bummer is the long walk to downtown Banff

I must admit that after reading the reviews listed, I was a bit skeptical regarding this hotel. After our 3 night stay, it is difficult to combobulate why the hotel received such harsh reviews. Yes, it is a bit dated but other than that, it was great! It is around an 18 minute walk to the downtown area, the rooms were clean and the staff was very friendly. The complimentary breakfast was served at the Voyager Inn next door in the restaurant and it was the perfect way to being our days of exploring!

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel . My check in was quick. Great under ground parking and my room was clean and spacious . It is about a 20 min walk into town but considering we are Banff , we didn't mind it. Lots to see on our way! Great choices of restaurants and shopping.

The price was right. We wanted a place to sleep and relax in the evening. We checked in and immediately realized it was a prime stop for buses. The hall walls were being prepared for painting. The couldn't get into our room and after re-programming of the key several times, a pleasant young man helped move our luggage to an upgraded room. It was fine except the WiFi wouldn't work in the room. The attendant at the desk said she didn't understand and could move us to a downgraded room the following day. We elected to remain and had to stand in the hallway if we wanted to use the WiFi. When checking out, I asked the desk clerk why the internet wouldn't work and she said it was probably because they were upgrading it. I don't know why the previous clerk couldn't tell me that. The room cleaning was mediocre at best. Continental breakfast was good.

We spent a single night here with no great problems. Although a long walk from the centre of Banff, there is a bus that runs past. This means restaurants and shops are not close. We had no problems with the internet, the bed or the size of the room. If you have breakfast, it is served in the motel next door.

We stayed one night in this hotel [thankfully] as part of the accommodation provided by our COSMOS Tour. The room we were allocated was supposed to be for 2 people. The room size was more for a single person. There was a double bed in the room which left little room for us to move around. The hotel had no way of providing meals, for this we were directed to the hotel next door. There was no Wi Fi which is a must now days. We did hear that this hotel was going to be taken over by a hotel chain. If this is the case they would need to close the hotel for a period of time and update / re-furbish the hotel from top to bottom.

Soft uncomfortable beds, slow Internet, no fan in the washroom, old box TV, no microwave, no fridge, breakfast in the next hotel ( Voyager Inn), the hotel is 3 levels but the ground level is level 4 ! So if your room number is 426 , you are not higher than street level. Between 7 - 8 am very noisy at level 4 , since the staff constantly slam the door between the two hotels. Price was more reasonable in Banff.
