Clarion Hotel

This place was decent. It was very clean, and the buffet was more than most need. Its close to some pretty good restaurants and some good shopping near by. Unfortunately, the only bummer was the hotel didn't have a gym. However, they did have a gym across the street (24hr) which was perfect.

Of particular use was the Hotel shuttle service since we had 6 bags and a bicycle traveling with us. Pickup at Amtrak station and next day deliver to Budget car rental at the airport. Efficient friendly service, and an amazing low room rate. This was part of a honeymoon trip so lack of hassles was greatly appreciated. The free breakfast was better than most, with lots of tables and no seating issues. Hot food was eggs, sausage and bacon. Selection of cereals, and the make your own waffles. Bakersfield is not the most common travel destination, but if i came through again i would stay here.

This Clarion is right off Highway 99 at the Rosedale Highway (Highway 58 to the west) so it is very convenient to get to. I thought that there would be a lot of road noise since it is so close to 99 but the fact that there are interior hallways seems to have helped reduce the noise. I wear ear plugs routinely anyway and I heard nothing at all. The accommodations are excellent and I had absolutely no complaints. The guest room was clean and everything worked just fine. The bed was excellent. The morning breakfast was excellent with hot eggs, ham and potatoes in addition to the usual bread and pastry fare.

It turned out this was the weekend of the annual March Meet at nearby Famoso Raceway, so the hotel was booked full. A late arrival probably resulted in my getting a room near the bar. Normally, the bar is open until 10 pm M-F and closed Sa-Su, but late on Friday the bar was open or had a special occasion with loud noise well into the morning hours. The next night was quiet and almost no sound from the freeway. The room was large and clean. The complimentary shuttle to and from the airport is a nice bonus. Breakfast was good with a decent selection, except that the only fruit was apples. The hotel web site says there is an on-site restaurant, but that is no longer true. The Hungry Hunter restaurant is an excellent choice for dinner and is a short walk away, as is Carl's Jr restaurant.

My wife and I came for a weekend getaway the front desk staff welcomed us and made sure we were comfortable with our room and also gave us some tips about the city. The rooms are a little dated and the bed was smaller than a queen size bed, more like a full size bed.

Stayed the night of November 21st. The positives of this hotel out weigh the one negative. We were in Room 125, it had a nice layout and was very clean. Upon check out you receive a ticket for a complimentary beer or a water. There is a very cute bar set up in the lobby area that is open until 10 p.m. where you can cash this ticket. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. The bed was really comfortable and had lots of pillows. The vanity area was on the small side though. It looks like they might have a happy hour in the bar area as there was a popcorn machine but it was empty. Breakfast was very good and a large selection. The only down side is that the rooms are starting to show some wear but otherwise I would recommend it. It is also across the parking lot from the Hungry Hunter restaurant which is excellent, a nice touch after driving 10 hours!

We arrived late and the receptionist was very nice. Checked in and went right to bed. The room had most amenities and in the morning we had the complementary breakfast. The latter was basic, but good quality and provided a sound basis to continue our travels

My friend and I arrived in Bakersfield to stay at the Clarion, in order to go to dinner at the Hungry Hunter next door. I didn't make a reservation, as I didn't think it would be a problem. However, I was informed by the front desk that they only had one room left. Rather desperate I asked the price, only to find out it was way out of my budget. This is were the front desk staff were awesome. They reduced the room down to my budget. Thank You!!! The next surprise came as we entered the room. Room 402 was on the west wall, so we thought it would be hot in the room -- but the AC was already on! The housekeeping in the room was excellent and I only have one complaint -- the bed closest to the door has a hard piece of metal (used to support the box spring) that is sticking out at chin level. Breakfast was nice with two proteins and a waffle maker. All in all - I very pleasant stay. :)

I stayed at this hotel recently for a convention. While the room rate was great, the staff was friendly and helpful, other things were lacking. The room is dated and there were stains in the bathroom and hallways. Our freezer kept things cold, but not frozen. The AC was so loud it was difficult to get to sleep. It was either on or off, no in between. Wifi is included, so that was good. There is breakfast in the morning which was a nice amenity, but they only had one staff person working (poor thing) and she was doing her best to keep everything stocked. Knowing hundreds of people were coming, they should have planned that better. The staff is the best part of this location, but I won't be staying here again.

This Hotel was bought with points and even upgraded to a nice suite...Room was clean, cooler worked nice..Micro and mini frig...Nice little bar in the Hotel....and a beautiful outdoor pool...No restaurant...but plenty within walking distance....even Costco with a gas station...I would defiantly stay here again..
