We are currently staying at this motel. If we weren’t super tired and hadn’t already unloaded our car we would have left. The floor is dirty. (Attached a photo of a towel we used to clean the floor). The room stinks. The chair has holes in it. The towels are stained. We wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
Well run and well organized place (my impression). Spacious, clean and decent room, including some decent hardwood flooring (no dirty unhygienic wall-to-wall carpet). This is a large place with a large number of rooms. Therefore be prepared that it is not only the mother's best children and boy scouts who spend the night here. And dont be surprised if you see a police car or two outside. But the security seems to be taken well care of anyway. Approved (I will rate it somewhere between 3 or 4). And will stay here again on another ca road trip!
I haven't been to Bakersfield for awhile. This hotel always meets my expectations. The staff here are remarkable. They seem to care on every need and request you ask for without hesitation. They seeem to keep the same staff cause they all know me by name , all familiar faces when I go there. Pricing is affordable and breakfast is included in the price.
I stayed here twice on my way to and from Yosemite - Los Angeles. Rooms were clean, spacious and staff friendly. Directly off the highway, this hotel of the chain is opposite a shopping centre; Walmart, Aldi, Lowes so is great if you need to pick up supplies. I pulled in because the highway sign said rates start from $45.99 but both times I paid around $67 including taxes, internet and breakfast. Would recommend for a night stop over whilst on the road.
For the few weeks that I have been staying here, the service has been really good. Along with the staff, very helpful and friendly. It is not too far from any type of amusement you seem to seek. Everything is fairly close, even a local Wal-mart. The rooms is good, bed is comfortable, and also the pillows are soft. Breakfast is from a good hour, not your normal 6-9a.m. So if you a truck driver this is the place for you. Easy access to the freeway. I would definitely stay here again.
Was a wonderful stay at the Vagabond Innn South...friendly people and all of the amenities... loved that you had a laundry and such a great breakfast every morning... many thanks to you all for such great service...even free WIFI! Next time I stay in Bakersfield it will be at the Vagabond Inn South!
If you simply need a place to sleep as you travel on I-5 or CA 99 and a quick bite to eat, this is a good bargain. The room is very basic and with a lot of road noise from Panama Lane. Nothing fancy in this dated motel. Free breakfast offers little more than "make your own waffles". You can eat at the adjacent Denny's or walk a block to In 'n Out Burger, Wendy's, or Jack in the Box . There is also a Starbucks and a Walmart across the street.
I really like this place normally. I had booked online earlier the day of check in. I booked the queen smoking kitchenette. When I checked in 5 he's later, I was told the kitchenette rooms were not available until 3 months from now? How is that? They need to either update the site. I cannot understand how you can book for a option that is not available? Had to seytle for lesser room for the same price! Ughh. Door knob came off n cable was horrible!
We chose this hotel to break journey on our way to Las Vegas from San Jose and while coming back. With small kids a 9 hour journey (due to ever increasing traffic due to holidays) at a stretch did not look too attractive. What this hotel provides for are the basic amenities. It is not expensive. Provides a small refrigerator and microwave in the room. One can park right in front of the room. The beds are OK and so are the rest of the furnishings, nothing much to write about. The wireless however is really bad, the TV had limited choice of channels and one of the strangest thing for me was that the bathroom door cannot be locked from inside. The breakfast is again pretty basic, but, OK. Overall, this is a decent place to stop by in Bakersfield which is a good place to break journey between San Jose and Vegas.
I stayed here twice in November 2016. Not very impressive looking but the check-in went easily and the staff were pleasant. The motel is used by a lot of truckers and the breakfast, which I did not use, starts at 2AM!! Best to get a room at the back of the motel away from where the trucks park, The room and bathroom were clean and the bed was comfortable. WI-Fi, once I figured out how to connect (It is not just a click on the icon, worked well. The connection is not secure so do not use for anything requiring passwords etc. The motel is located across from a open air mall with a supermarket, fast food etc
