Obviously a budget hotel but everything did what it needed to do. Room was quite small but was clean and well presented. Shower and toilet pod were unique, being a semi circular plastic or fiberglass pod in the corner of the room. As long as you are not planning to spend long periods of time in the room ( other than sleeping ) its not really an issue. Have to say that the front desk staff were excellent, very polite and helpful.

Firstly I know that the ibis brand is a budget hotel. But this one is terrible. The room 1054 was so small like a shoebox. The bed was hard and you could feel the springs. It was not made well either with the mattress being exposed due to the sheets being too small. Bathroom was horrid. No sound proofing, herd all the Asian tour groups talking loudly in the hall at 6am. The only upside was a buffet breakfast being included. Next time though I'll choose another accommodation

On reflection the room was fairly ordinary with noisy air conditioning, but when you are in a place for a couple of nights on business, its not a big issue. But being a business trip the very poor wi-fi was a problem and I told them on checkout that unless they can reassure me its fixed on my next trip they can write me off as a bed-night of the future. I had a very bright guy called Varius? up from reception twice to try and make it work but despite this I was unable to send an email for three days, although I could get incoming. That in itself highlights one the real strengths of the Ibis, which is the service, friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. At checkout I complained about the 2% charge on Amex. I always complain as I consider it should be a cost to the hotel of doing business and they took it off the bill. I know that 2% is lower than most but I still think it should be at the cost of the provider That's was a big plus to me as I have never had any hotel do that before, despite always complaining. One final comment, and it applies to all hotels: I just like some fresh fruit and yogurt for breakfast with maybe a sprinkle of muesli on the top and their price structure was not geared for this with a price of $14.50 for a such a modest quantity. It is something they should think about?

I recently stayed here as it was in close proximity to the venue that a work conference was being hosted at. Half of the conference was put into the Novotel, and the other half was put into the Ibis right next door to the Novotel. When we arrived after a long day at conference, it was a bit of a push and shove scenario trying to get checked-in which they handled relatively well considering the sudden influx of 2 bus loads of people. In the end though there was a lot of confusion on where to go to check-in for Ibis and where to go to check-in for Novotel. The water bottles they were giving out were a nice touch though. The room was clean, albeit very small. I was forced to share with a colleague (not that I minded too much), but her and I became very well acquainted after our evening there. The bathroom reminded us both of a cruise ship bathroom and I think it was just a plastic ventricle they added in after the rooms were designed. It was a corner of the room that was all in plastic. You had to step up into it, then the shower was a triangle shape barely even a step away from the toilet. It was unique to say the least, but since it was just a sliding door it was also awkward when one of us used the toilet. It was good for a budget hotel all in all.

Great location and very good service. Stayed for two nights and staff was accommodating as to my very early check in. The rooms are basic but have everything you need for a brief stay. Bathroom is tiny and you have to watch the step to the shower or you may take a fall. But that's a small drawback. It's a perfect place to stay for a night or two. The breakfast buffet is more than adequate. I would return for a brief stay.

While the counter staff were reasonably helpful, when it came to a problem with payment they didnt want to know. Its difficult to understand the accents of all the nationalities on the counter. Breakfast was paid for (in the payment for the room several months in advance) but the restaurant wanted to charge me another $24-$39 for either tea and toast or a cooked breakfast.Needless to say I walked away as I wasnt paying twice! Shocking. The shower was like it belonged in a space shuttle. Milk should be in a bottle and everything was in the wardrobe, not very healthy! The room air conditioning was loud and outdated. The price for what we got was horrendous!

Great hotel to stay in during my recent business trip to Auckland. 30 mins from the airport in a very quiet area. The hotel is very clean with an excellent restaurant and bar. Very friendly staff. The room is perfect for one with a comfortable bed and a clean bathroom.

It is truly hard to find a Hotel that still thinks it is OK to charge $10 for 24 hours of Wifi access - and we are talking about low bandwidth as well. The prices just climb from there if you want to actually download anything reasonable. My point is that, I do not mind a Hotel charging me for something that actually costs them money. But seriously, internet access is so cheap nowadays that it should be in the price of the room - like almost all of the other Hotels I stay at. Having a guest staying at a Hotel is not an excuse to squeeze money out of them at every turn. This Hotel needs to smarten up its act. Ok - now for the Bathroom. Words almost fail me. Imagine a plastic module dropped into the corner of the room that is about 2mtrs x 1.5 mtrs that has the was-basin, WC and shower!! When I first opened the door I thought it was a wardrobe with a toilet. Unlike the TARDIS this capsule is not BIGGER on the inside. As for the actual room, don't bring anyone with you. There isn't room for them. Yes, it does have a King Bed but this leaves about 1.2 mtrs around the sides and end for 'living' space (or should I say squeezing space). There is no space for bags (except for a small padded shelf by the bed, which I think is actually supposed to be a seat! Last but not least - the view. From my room I have a fetching panorama of windows of the Novotel to the left (about 4mtrs away) and the ventilation ducting / roof of the downstairs restaurant to the right (an equal distance). I am tankful that the window does not open to admit the smell of fried food. Will I return to this Hotel - no, unless they smarten up their customer service.

The saving grace of this place was the staff for me. Charming and friendly. I had a pretty avg dinner here (avoid the naan bread at all costs unless you have a taste for dry shoe heel) but the staff made up for it with a complimentary drink and excellent dessert recommendation (fried banana yum!). The room is pretty budget and tiny. Slightly depressing but clean and has all you need. One complaint about the room is the fact that the duvet isn't covered except by a sheet and that's kinda gross - reminds me of staying at my 18 year old brothers uni halls of residence. Get better duvets and cover them!! Also WiFi is not free which seems ridiculous.

I had an event in Auckland to attend and wanted somewhere close by in Ellerslie. The Ibis Hotel was perfect. I was able to get a park in the main area near the hotel which cost $15 for 24 hours. There is also another parking area by Gate 3. Check in was very quick as I had already paid for my room. The room itself was all I needed for my overnight stay. A large comfortable bed, a good shower with decent water pressure and a clean room. The TV had your standard channels and I had a view of the outside dining area. The bathroom was clean and compact but usable. The only downside was the vending machine was out of bottled water.
