we stayed here for three nights and we very impressed with the hotel the staff they were very friendly and helpful the food in the restaurant for breakfast was really good with plenty of choice there is an italian restaurant right next door that was really good but cannot remember the name of it
I stayed in Holiday Inn during the 1st week of April. the Location is perfect its closed to Sloterdijk Station which is the Hub for a lot of transportaions Train, Metro, Tram and Bus. 15 min by train to Schiphol airport and 10 mins to the centre by train and 25 mins by tram. the location is safe and in the same building there is SPAR supermarket and starbucks is closed to the hotel. the Room is clean but no cabinet or minibar. the staff are friendly and cooperative. the breakfast was good but with no variety. i really enjoyed my stay in Holiday Inn
Starting with the Pros; check in was super fast! Room was clean on the surface (there's a few cons in regards to this too), breakfast was good too, with a variety of meats and cheese, bread, pastries, fruit and cereal. Reception staff we friendly and knowledgeable. Location of this hotel is great! 2 stops from the airport, and 1 from the center of Amsterdam, roughly 5 mins into the city, a train comes very 10mins. Cons; The cleaners don't seem to want to clean. I get that its an express hotel, but in the 4 nights we were there it wasn't cleaned only adjusted from the surface (beds made, bins emptied) One day we were in the hotel early afternoon, the cleaner knocked to asked if it had been cleaned, i said no but could you do the bathroom please? She inspected it, and by her judgement, it didn't need cleaning... Another day i had a small amount of water left in my bottle, which i was saving, which the cleaner threw away but they had left the take out drink that was was empty... I don't understand the inconsistency here and the lack of actual cleaning. Very disappointed here... I'm also pretty sure there was semen on the wall behind the bed. The lifts are very slow, if you'r eon the lower floors your better off taking the stairs unless you have luggage.
My partner and I stayed over at this HI for 3 nights and found it to be rather enjoyable. The rooms are clean and well furnished, the staff friendly, and the included continental breakfast is adequate (although very busy after 8.00am.) The hotel is right next to the train station which is quite handy and is quite conveniently located as it is one stop from the airport (about 15 min) and one stop to Amsterdam Central (about 10 min.) The rooms were not completely soundproof, but then for the price we paid we weren’t expecting it to be perfect. There is a small Spar attached to the hotel which is perfect for immediate needs such as food and drink, forgotten toiletries etc. All in all we had a good experience and would choose to stay here again if we returned.
Would rate this hotel 4/5. We have stayed quite a few times in Holiday Inn Express (Manchester City Centre and San Diego, CA). With this chain of hotels, you cant go really wrong. These are standard business hotels with medium level of frills. 1. We were 4 people - myself, wife, 5yr old son and mother-in-law. We drove from London, started early and reached the hotel by 11am - which was early by the checkin time. With not much hassle, we were allocated 2 rooms on 2 different floors - 242 and 636. Although we wanted rooms on the same floor, but that would have taken time - so we settled for the rooms. Both rooms were facing Amsterdam Sloterdijk Station. SO checkin was smooth. 2. Location of this hotel is FABULOUS. This is literally 2 mins walking from Amsterdam Sloterdijk Station. You can take a train to Amsterdam Centraal every 5/10 minutes and reach in 5 minutes. We bought a 3 day Amsterdam Travel card for the 3 adults that allowed us unlimited train and tram travel. We were suggested to buy this at the counter. For my son, we took runner tickets (quite cheap). Travel to and fro the hotel to Centraal was not an issue at any time, as trains run till quite late. It was the fastest and easiest way. We also took a TRAM once (which is taken from -2 floor of the hotel) to Museum Square, reached in 20 minutes. So the location is ideal for people who want to reach Centraal/Canal/Clubs in 10 minutes and are also away from hustle bustle of the City. 3. We parked our car in -2 floor of the hotel. Always got the parking. 4. We made 2 day trips using our car from the hotel (not booked any tour): a. Madurodam and Keukenhof: Tickets for both purchased from website. Absolutely loved both. b. Volendam, Edam and Zaanse Schans: No tickets required. Drive to these places. Tours are available for all these places - but I had the car and loved driving in Dutch countryside. Couldnt get tickets for Van Gogh Museum and Anne Frank House. May be in next visit will do both. 5. Coming back to the hotel - the breakfast is ok ok. No Scrambled eggs, beans, hash browns etc (this was expected). But hot and good tasting food whatever was available. 6. There is a SPAR right below the hotel to buy almost anything you need regularly and may have missed. 7. Decent staff, helpful. We wanted to order indian food once. Reception advised to order from the online site - thuisbezorgd. Quite liked the food from the place we ordered - Mother India. All in all, a standard hotel - clean - great for Centraal commute, Well connected by tram and A10 Amsterdam ring road is like 5 mins for people driving. Location and service is commendable.
-Flexible Check-in/Check-out for IHG members -Perfect location- Just next to Sloterdijk station -Luggage Storage - Clean rooms and common areas -Excellent continental breakfast The only disadvantage is that it could be noisy as you keep hearing the train passing every now and then.
My boyfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights for a trip away from Amsterdam. The hotel is very clean and staff are very helpful and welcoming. The hotel is great for transport as it is right next to train station which is a couple of stops away from the airport. It is also next to a tram stop which is great for getting into the centre of Amsterdam.
The location was top notch as it is literally next to the train station, tram and bus station. With a tourist all you can travel card, I actually preferred this location to staying in the city centre. The very pleasant and efficient public transport in Amsterdam made this hotel an easy option However, the price we made for this convenience was an incredibly noisy hotel room which kept us up all night. The arrival and departure of every train on multiple platforms, the public annoucements made on the train platforms, the screeching of the buses as they drove past can all be clearly heard from our fourth floor hotel room facing the train station. To make things worse, the trains run through the night (kudos to public transport, not so condusive for a quiet night stay). Even closing all the windows and drawing the curtains did little to mitigate the noise level. However, our friend staying on the same floor but not facing the train station had quiet nights. Other than that, it was an enjoyable stay in a mid range hote. The shower and toilet was new, modern and spacious with strong water pressure with plenty of hot water. The room itself is big and I loved the big work desk which is unusual in a hotel room. The breakfast spread and quality was great and I looked forward to breakfast every day. Reception was efficient. Other than the excessive noise level, I would not hesitate to stay here again if I can secure a room facing the quieter side!
It does what it says on the tin. Modern rooms, continental breakfast, reasonable parking fees and nice friendly staff. Soundproof windows are very effective. Two minutes walk from Sloterdijk train station. From there it is one stop to Amsterdam Central. Trains run very frequent. We will be back.
We liked this hotel, the staff are well trained, very friendly and helpful. We were welcomed very kindly and were given a room, even though we were early.its worth being a member of the IHG rewards club, because here, I was given a free drink plus one guest. This was really appreciated. To get from the airport, we took the no 69 bus from the main airport concourse, it’s the last bus in the stands, and says Slotterdik station. We bought a ticket from the driver, card only. When we wanted to get into Amsterdam, reception were most helpful and we chose the bus which takes you straight into the city centre, near the main train station. The buses can be accessed by merely going down in the lift to street level, and it’s a pleasant 15 journey into Amsterdam, or else, you can use the train from the nearby station which only takes about 5 mins or so. We used the no 20bus to get us into Amsterdam, you can get a bus/ tram card from the little shop by the hotel. You can buy a 12 hr,48,hr, 72 hr card. You can buy single use tickets on the bus. We found this worked very well for us, and was not so much of a financial outlay as buying the city card for which you can go to many many things! We didn’t want to just go to Amsterdam to be stuck inside all the time so we opted to walk/ bus/ tram around the place. The bus drivers and everyone speak English and are always happy to help. The hotel was very clean, and our room was quiet. My only gripe was the bouncy bed which surprisingly did not have an underlay over the mattress. Fortunately the sheet was very thick cotton. Perhaps this was an oversight. Despite this, we both slept very well.
