Could not believe the excellent service and attention by the staff.

Located perfectly on canal in the middle of old Amsterdam. Walking distance to nearly everything you'd want to see. Within 3 blocks of 50+ restaurants. Everything newly remodeled. It's a boutique hotel, so not bothered with meeting participants, weddings, etc. Mattress was great and offered multiple pillow options. Huge glassed in shower with overhead spray and hand-held. (even the toilet paper was high quality) Absolutely free 24/7 access to liquor, espresso machine, pop, water, soda and wine - WOW. Staff was great. Breakfast was free and had cook making omelets, pancakes, etc. to order (and quickly). Extensive offering of breads, cheeses, croissants, yogurt, jams, etc. -- all superb. Everything was spotless. Shoe shine machines and ice available on each floor. Wide selection of world newspapers including NYT, FT, available by 6 a.m. each morning for reading in the lobby. Bathroom even had a 110 outlet for american electric shavers. Sufficient outlets for electronic recharging - we did bring adapters. Flat screen TV with decent channel choices. I've stayed at hundreds of hotels and this is beyond doubt my favorite of all of them.

Great all inclusive hotel, room included free mini bar and free drinks in the lobby. Staff was very accommodating all around.

Wonderful hotel. Great helpful staff. Exceeded expectations.

Arrived just in time for the wine and cheese service. This room was expensive. I tried to share with a friend, but the hotel wouldn't commit to 2 twin beds. So, my friend also paid the identical expensive per night rate for an additional room. The irony is that my room had two beds afterall! This was aggravating since we had contacted the hotel and they knew what wanted and knew our names from the emails. Our rooms were ground level (hers near the lobby door (lots of noise) and sidewalk noise to boot. We were there 2-3 nights. There's only so much wine, cheese and alcohol you can consume. And, even then we had to ask for more cheese because it vanished so quickly. Both of us have stayed at boutique hotels before and don't mind paying premium prices, but we didn't feel this lived up to our expectations. Toiletries were low quality, towels were small and poor quality as well, and so were the slippers! We stay at many hotels throughout the year and this was a huge disappointment. In fact, I'm back in Amsterdam as I write this and much happier at a hotel outside the city at a 1/3 the cost. Kimpton Hotel will open a hotel in AMS in Spring 2017. I will plan to stay there as they never disappoint and provide the boutique experience.

great hotel with excellent location right in the center of everything. Staff gave really good restaurant recommendations of Sluizer and Restaurant Spelt which were great restaurants. Their breakfast was fantastic, the staff were very nice. It was so pleasant to have the free mini bar and also the lounge having a free bar. Very relaxing at the end of the day to have a drink. They even kept the variety of wine out longer on weekends. The cheese table was so good too, and I was able to try all different kinds of cheese. I just wished they kept the cheese table out longer and replenished the cheese more often. The staff were very accommodating and so nice. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Love Banks Mansion and this was my second stay. Nice staff, great location and decent size rooms. Just 1 block from the 16 and 24 tram that takes you right to or near all the prime attractions.

This hotel is not at all what it claims to be. The staff appears very accommodating but dealing with the manager is the worst experience ever. My bag was stolen from me right in front of my eyes in the hotel lobby. With that all our money, jewelry and important documents were gone in the blink of an eye. They have a security camera but could not review the incident until 3 days later. Once they reviewed it, they admitted that someone came in, stole my bag and left right away. The hotel staff does not check the people coming in and there are many times when there is no one at the front desk. Security is not a priority at this hotel. When we asked for being comped for the two days as a courtesy, they absolutely refused. The only thing they were willing to do was to upgrade us to a better room on our next visit. There will never be a next visit at this hotel. Security was truly compromised here and they were not considerate at all. As far as the room itself, it also left to be desired. There was a weird food smell. The room and bathroom were very tiny. We were supposed to have a queen bed, but what we had were two single separate beds moved together. There were no top sheets, just a blanket. Worst experience ever.

This hotel is perfectly located not far from any of the attractions. Also convenient to the trams. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was very nice, and loved having access to the room's minibar and lobby bar as part of the inclusive room rate. The morning breakfast was outstanding with a very good selection. All of this does come at a hefty price, though, and that may be the one negative. While it was all very nice, the rates may still be a little overpriced for value, but that also fluctuates considerably depending on WHEN you book. It cost me over $450 more to shift my reservation back one week. YIKES!

Banks Mansion fulfilled all of our expectations. We will stay here again on a future trip to Amsterdam. Our room was comfortable, the staff was very welcoming and helpful, the evening wine and cheese was a wonderful way to unwind after spending many hours walking around the old city. The location is very convenient. The breakfast assortment was plentiful and very good. Thanks for a wonderful visit!

We booked this hotel because it offered a full breakfast, snacks, and drinks in the hotel lobby, or living room as the staff like to call it. We arrived tired from our long trip. The gentleman who checked us in, sat down with us in comfortable leather chairs and gave us a map of Amsterdam, circling various sites and museums he recommended. Since we arrived at 10:30 am, we understood that our check-in wouldn't be until 3:00pm, but our room was ready at 1:00pm, which was a welcome surprise. We were also upgraded to a junior suite on the first floor, which was fine for us. We had no view, but none was expected at booking, and we had a comfortable King sized bed, a soaking tub and separate shower, flat screen TV, WiFi, two chairs and a desk/bureau. The furnishings were a little quirky and thrown together, but they fit in the home-spun ambience the hotel achieves. We felt completely at home, sitting in the living room having a glass of wine, a beer, or a soda. They also keep the mini-bars in each room completely stocked. Everything in the mini-bar is free. There is no added charge for this. There's also a cappuccino coffee machine in the lobby for early risers. Breakfast is served downstairs and it contains an extensive selection of cold meats, cheeses, breads, pastries, fresh juices, cereals, milk, and a second cappuccino machine.Omelettes or French toast are made to order. It's all delicious. Local delicacies have signs that offer a description of the food, the name, and correct pronunciation. The front desk offers tickets for sale to museums, and other activities. TIP: Within walking distance we recommend Incanto Italian restaurant which has excellent canal views and great food. Also, for more contemporary Holland cuisine, try the excellent Spelt Restaurant, just across the bridge. Both of these restaurants were staff recommendations, and they were top notch.

We loved this hotel, didn't even want to leave to explore city. Can't wait to come back to Amsterdam, so we can stay here. Met every expectation and then some!

The hotel was advertised as all inclusive, and our stay certainly lived up to expectations. The mini-bar in the room, the afternoon wine and cheese service in the lobby, the all day open bar in lobby, and the full breakfast complete with excellent made-to-order omelets were all top notch. Good central location within walking distance to most attractions. Staff was helpful and informative. Rooms were clean and comfortable.

My husband and I booked a privately owned apartment for our previous visit three years ago. It was not a great experience. The Banks Mansion was the antidote we found for our next trip. A superb location on the grand canal, wonderfully trained and attentive staff, close to the main museums, a complete and delicious breakfast -- we could not have asked for more. In fact, we might have asked for less. The open bar and snacks downstairs means large and sometimes rowdy guests during the happy hour, even though the rooms are fully stocked with alcohol, included in the bill. But really, a fantastic hotel. Highly recommended.

Very central, close to museums, door step on tram way, awesome and knowledgeable staff, great breakfast and open lobby bar.

Snacks and drinks at the lobby are really good. Room amenities are rich and meets the needs. Breakfast was okay, someone cooks the eggs a la minute according to your desire. Reception staff was very helpful for giving advice and making reservations to nearby restaurants.

The hotel staff could not have been more accommodating! We arrived early morning after an overnight flight and because there was a room available, we were allowed to check in rather than simply to drop off our bags. The manager provided excellent directions and dinnertime restaurant recommendations. We were within an easy walking distance to the major museums, Old Town and red light district, other significant attractions, and the hop-on/off canal cab. At the end of the day, we enjoyed complimentary wine and cheese in the "living room" before preparing for dinner

The hotel is centrally located to walk all the historic and museum sites. The staff is very nice. Breakfast was included and it was very good. Complimentary wine and cheese every night in the lobby is a nice way to end the day.

We had a fabulous stay at Banks Mansion. From the minute we checked in to the day we left, the service was over the top, and we absolutely loved the hotel. The location was very convenient, as we were able to walk to most tourist destinations from the hotel. There were some excellent restaurants nearby, and we enjoyed the all-inclusive aspect of Banks Mansion, including the mini-bar in the room and the snacks and bar in the lobby. The breakfast was very tasty, particularly the Dutch pancakes! Every single staff member was helpful and friendly and provided excellent service. We especially appreciated the pleasant surprise of a free upgrade to a suite and an immediate check-in when we arrived early in the morning after disembarking our cruise. I would highly recommend this hotel. It was a terrific value and truly added to the experience of our stay in Amsterdam. It is also very clean and modern, yet has character because it is located in an old bank. I did a lot of research before booking this hotel and it paid off!

Dear Wendy, First of all, I hope you had a great Christmas Holiday in Amsterdam. We appreciate you taking the time to provide us with such detailed feedback about your stay. First of all, Good to hear that you had a good start of the day starting with a wonderful breakfast. And thank you for the compliment about our staff. They always make the extra mile to make our guests happy and comfy. I am very sorry to hear that several things throughout your stay did not meet your expectations you had to ask for a refill of the buffet. The cheese buffet always goes pretty quick because it’s so popular! We always have a staff member taking care of the Living to clean up and refill everything. Please note that your concerns have been passed on to our floor management. Our guests love Banks Mansion because its central, our staff is friendly and they find the extra’s that complimentary with the stay exceptional. That’s also why we are in the top 10 best hotels in Amsterdam. Quite an achievement for such a small boutique hotel like Banks Mansion! There is so much more that our concept has to offer besides our open bar we have o.a. daily treats like muffins, cake, pie, chocolates. And how did you like our Dutch “Bitterballen”? Concerning the quality of our toiletries, although the towels are already hotel quality, we only want the best for our guests. That’s why we have decided to order new toiletries with even higher quality. Regarding the feedback of the additional room, could you please email us so we can get more details and investigated this further and our Hotel Manager can discuss your issues personally. We do hope you give us another chance as we will definitely improve our services and take your feedback serious. Kind regards, Paul Buyser, General Manager
