Room very clean and comfortable, bathroom clean and shower powerful with hot water. The toiletries and dental packs supplied were of good quality. Reception staff very helpful and polite. The staircase is quite narrow (which is likely standard for most houses in the city) and would likely prove difficult with a lot of luggage / heavy cases. We were only staying two nights so wasn't much to carry. Booked triple room with balcony for the three of us and couldn't really fault it. Would definitely look to book again if we come back to Amsterdam.

Bed bugs

We stayed for two nights on the second day I got up with bug bites on my face and arms but did not know what it was. When I returned to the hotel that night I was on my computer in bed when a bed bug crawled over my shoulder I squashed it in a napkin and googled bed bugs to see what they look like it was an exact match. I took it to the night clerk in the lobby and was told they didn’t have bed bugs and could help me. I refused to go back to the room so he called his manager again and told me they would let me use another room. Their conversation repeatedly mentioned New York and he told me I could have brought it in from the plane. He never commiserated or apologized for the situation. I told him I hope they at least address the bed bug problem when I leave even though they were pretending my bites were a total mystery. I’m still suffering through the itching and discomfort from the bites on my arms and face. I did not ask for a refund on the stay. I will not be going back there.

We had a really great time. Staff was very friendly and gave great recommendations for restaurants. Location was super convenient and close to downtown while still having a lot of local cafes and restaurants. We would definitely recommend and would stay here again!

I liked the location. It was close to the areas we wanted to explore. Walking to and from the hotel was easy. It was extremely hot and with no air conditioning sleeping was tough. My room was small and the bathroom sink was in a difficult position. With the shelf just above the faucet. The water from the shower would wet much of the bathroom floor so using the bath mat towel is a must. At least there was a fan in the room to help move air during the night. The stairs to get to my room on the second floor are extremely steep and the treads are narrow so carrying luggage was a challenge. The front desk staff was great and very friendly and helpful. I was not bugged by cleaning staff on checkout day which is really nice. Overall I was satisfied with the Alp Hotel and would recommend it to people on a budget.

We appreciated the location and convenience of Alp Hotel. The staff was cordial and knowledgeable. Our room was small but this was not a concern for us as we spent the days and evenings exploring Amsterdam. The room and bathroom were clean. Housekeeping was available for those that needed it. We would stay here again without hesitation.

This is a boutique hotel. We passed one night in the larger 2 bed room. It was an excellent room. There were nice little touches. To great coffee shops around the corner for breakfast.

Fantastic Amsterdam Experience

My girlfriend and I were only here for 1 night. Knowing that we would not be in the hotel room a lot, we wanted an authentic European experience. The rooms were quite small, but the staff and the location were excellent. The front desk recommended we take public transportation from the Schiphol airport and gave us all the information needed we needed to get there without a hitch. When we arrived, the staff provided valuable insights on where/how we could make the most of our limited time, including neighborhoods/restaurants/markets/tourist attractions. I needed to sign-in to a virtual meeting which I took in the communal back patio which was really quite nice and quiet. (Bonus points for having great Wi-Fi coverage there as well!) We will be back to Amsterdam in the near future and when we do, the Alp Hotel will definitely be on our list.
