As far as Residence Inns go, this one is about 10 years overdue for a renovation. The appliances are old; the TVs are small, dim, and have no HD channels; the bathrooms are dated; the fluorescent lights in all the fixtures are dim and grim. The food at the evening “socials” are a joke. The BBQ night offered what appeared to by microwaved chicken breasts and cold hamburger buns. The “local” night consisted of lukewarm takeout pizza and soggy hot wings. The breakfast is right up there with a mediocre Holiday Inn Express. The staff, on the other hand, are great. Housekeeping was spotless and they left me a thank you note every day for tipping. Front desk staff are efficient and friendly. There was no recognition of my Marriott Gold status, but they were still nice. Bottom line: This tired hotel property is a disservice to the wonderful staff.
My wife and I were once Hilton Honors rewards members, but because of our stay at this hotel, we will be switching our status to the Marriot Rewards program! We live 3 hours from ABQ and make multiple visits to ABQ and stay at hotels in the area frequently. We loved our stay at the Residence Inn. The staff were extremely friendly, the breakfast was great, and were even surprised by an evening social on certain nights of he week. We cannot wait to return in the warmer months to try out the pool and basketball courts on the grounds. The hotel is also located in the perfect location for us! There were many wonderful restaurants within walking distance and many more with a short drive! This hotel is at the epicenter of everything ABQ offers! We cannot wait to stay here again in a couple of weeks!
We enjoyed our stay at the Residence Inn North. The check in was very quick and easy. The staff at the front desk were always very nice and very helpful. The complimentary breakfast was well served and helped us to start our busy days. I especially liked the varied selection of hot coffee that was available. The hotel is located in a very nice and peaceful area with great restaurants, bars and craft beer brewery nearby. It is also a quick drive to Old Town, Sandia Casino or other areas of interest. We stayed in the two bedroom suite, that suited our needs perfectly. The room was very clean and the heater and AC worked well, controlled by a thermostat on the wall. Flat screen TVs in each bedroom and the family area too. The fireplace was a nice touch as well. There are a few opportunities for improvement. The carpet in the west entrance needs to be cleaned. The room had an old style 12 cup coffee maker that looked like it had seen better days. The shower curtain rod was loose and hanging at an angle. The nozzle in the tub was loose, probably due to the force needed to pull up the lever to divert the water to the shower head. These items showed evidence of previous repairs. But, as a seasoned traveler, these minor details don’t affect my overall enjoyment of my stay at this excellent hotel.
Stayed for 4 nights last week. Everything you come to expect from Residence Inns. I usually stay at different hotel in the area, but decided to try the RI instead. Wasn’t disappointed. Comfortable beds, clean room, friendly staff. I get tired of the breakfasts (too many Marriott stays), so I only has coffees while I was there. But they had the full breakfast spreads each morning and the social bites Monday-Wednesday. If you’re in town for business or just a regular trip to the ABQ, having the furnished apartment-style rooms makes a difference. I’ll be back (Mua ha ha ha)!!!
we had a reunion of Air Force Brats here in November 2017. The staff was remarkable. They were very accommadating and made our reunion fun. We got to use there lobby area as a gathering area. They served a hot dekicious breakfast every day.
We stay at this hotel at least once per year when in town visiting our Albuquerque family. We especially love that each suite includes a kitchen with full-sized fridge and dining table, which makes our stay extra-comfortable. We've stayed here with our dogs as well, & the setup for pets is great - nice run area behind the hotel, and very accommodating staff for guests with pets. The free hot breakfast is FANTASTIC - varied menu each day which we appreciate during longer stays, plenty of options for various diets, fresh fruit as well. The pool/spa area and basketball court are fun in summer, outdoor fire pit is nice during cooler months. Our only complaint is that when we've stayed on a lower floor, we often hear noise from guests above us if they're moving around early in the morning. So now we request an upper floor when we stay - no more complaints from noise. Definitely our family's favorite lodging in the area.
We drove all day from Southern California to get my daughter to college in Colorado. Knew I couldnt make it much past 2am so I booked a room with this hotel. I chatted via the app with Megan and explained we wanted to empty the car when we got there -- my daughter was afraid her life would get stolen from the car while we slept! Anyway, they saved me a room on the ground floor near the side door so we loaded up the cart and had easy access getting in. At that time of the night we just wanted to sleep. It was the perfect location. The breakfast was very nice as well and got us off to a good start for the rest of our drive. Room was great having the separate bedroom!! Thanks again Megan for giving us a great location for our situation!
We booked this hotel for one night and got in pretty late. The hotel is in a nice area and looks very nice from the outside. The check-in was friendly and we got our room on the second floor. The hallway smelled a little musty but once we got to the room, there was no longer a smell. Our room was large with a nice kitchenette and sitting area. It even had dishes and soap to use. The bed was typical Marriott and very comfortable and we had a good evening here. We didn't hear any noise from the halls or anywhere else. We did not try the breakfast because we woke up too late. Overall I would definitely stay here again.
The mundane part of this review is the rooms; checked in and everything in my room was clean and working, and stayed throughout my stay. What sets this Marriott, and indeed this hotel, apart from every other hotel in Albuquerque is their customer service. We had 30 people in town for a family reuinion from Washington State, Colorado, Texas, Illinois, Oregon, and several other smaller groups from other states. From check-in to check-out, the team at Residence Inn Albuquerque North was there to help us. I have stayed at world class hotels around the world and I have not received service like this before. We checked in late on Thursday and were offered free water bottles because we looked tired and parched from our trip. Our party kind of took over the breakfast / dinner area after 6:00 PM Friday and our hosts didn't bat an eye. After day one it was clear my father needed a little help getting around; upon asking the hotel staff for wheelchair rental information I was given a free wheelchair for the remainder of our stay at no additional charge. I have been a guest of many world-class hotels around the world but the experience at this hotel is world class. Kudos to the staff of the hotel for making our family reunion stay comfortable and memorable.
Booked this hotel using Points from the Marriott Rewards Program. I was moving half my house from IA to AZ, 10 yr old Daughter and Father along for the ride. Checking in, the lobby had been moved into a room. Sitting down with the check in person, She advised me that 'some of our amenities are currently not available ...' Such as ... I asked 'We had a fire on the 3rd, and currently we have no internet or TV on the property' - She replied. I sank. Internet is key anymore, and all my Dad wanted to do was catch up on the days happenings on the TV. Not to mention, when I booked this hotel (AFTER THE FIRE EVENT), there was no mention the hotel was experiencing any difficulties. And burning Points for something that is not 'whole' ... seemed like a bad idea. We had spent 10 hours on the road from the last hotel in KS, we were spent, just wanted to unwind. But ... I called Marriott and complained about the hotel not divulging on their website the current status (which is the hotel managements discretion). Cancelled the room, had the Points credited and found a lesser 'ok' Marriott property to stay at about a mile away. (Reload bags, hop back in Penske truck, drive a little more.) Due to local managements decision to not be forthcoming in the current status of the property ... I would steer clear of this property. If they can't be completely clear about a fire, which took out the internet and TV ... I would have to ask what else they can't be clear about during your stay.
