Alghero Airport is located about five miles from the city of Alghero, a town on the island of Sardinia in Italy. The airport provides services to about fifteen destinations internationally and an additional nine domestically. The airport is busy enough to provide international flights from Alghero on a daily basis, and reservations for flights can be made on Some of the airlines flying out of Alghero include Ryanair, Alitalia, Atlantic Airways and Air One.

Parking at the Alghero Airport

Parking at the Alghero Airport is available for a fee, with curbside drop-off allowed as long as the vehicle is attended. Short-term parking is provided at a cost of about $2 if parked for longer than 15 minutes but less than 30, then $4 for up to two hours or $5 for three. Long-term parking is available as well, with fees of about $5 a day at a minimum of two days.

Transportation to the Alghero Airport

Getting to Alghero Airport from the city can be done using the FdS bus AA. The bus runs regularly to the airport throughout the day from Piazza della Mercede, with a travel time of about 20 minutes. Local taxis are available as well, making the trip about 15 minutes.

A Meal before Leaving

Il Pavone is a restaurant in Alghero that's well-known for its delicious ink squid pasta. La Lepanto is another fine local restaurant, with fresh lobster and fish that's perfectly prepared. If there's no time for a sit-down meal before catching one of the available flights from Alghero, there's always a chance to grab something at a low cost at the Air Café located in the airport's arrivals section before boarding.

There are two major airports, John F. Kennedy International (JFK) and LaGuardia, that service travelers flying into New York City. When you use to book your flights to New York, you will be able to choose from almost every major domestic and international air passenger carrier. LaGuardia Airport is roughly nine miles east of Manhattan, while JFK is almost 20 miles to the southeast. If you can't find the flight that you want, you can also fly into Newark International Airport, roughly 19 miles northeast of Manhattan.

Ground Transportation in New York

New York has plenty of public transportation, so getting around should be fairly easy. If you fly into LaGuardia, you will have to take a taxi, bus, or shared van for at least a portion of the trip, because there is no rail or subway service from the airport. Expect a cab ride from LaGuardia to Manhattan to cost anywhere from $20 to $40. Although JFK is further from the city, you can hop on the AirTrain, which will take you to the subway or the Long Island Railroad. If you choose to take a cab from JFK into Manhattan, expect to pay $45 or more for the ride. You will also be responsible for any tolls that are incurred during the trip. If you use to book your hotel, you may be able to find one that offers free shuttle service to and from the airport.

New York tends to be cold in the winter, wet in the spring and humid in the summer. Winter temperatures fluctuate between the 20s and 30s, while summer temperatures can soar to the 90s. New York City averages 27 inches of snow each winter, so be sure to pack your parka and snow boots if you plan to be there between November and February.
