For a change from the face-paced New York lifestyle, you can fly from New York to Bogota in approximately five hours. John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) has several transportation options, such as public buses and subways, or you can drive your car or hire a taxi to get to the airport. Although Bogota and New York City both have skyscrapers and millions of residents, Bogota's skyline is dotted with green parks, and the city is surrounded by mountains. Visitors are attracted to this diverse city because of its mixture of history and modern architecture.
Because of its size and diverse population, Bogota has many unique attractions, including Paloquemao Square, which is a large fresh fruit market, and the Gold Museum, which contains a large collection of pre-Hispanic items. You can take in a tennis match or a bullfight in the Santamaria Bullring or have dinner in an authentic Colombian restaurant in the neighborhood of La Macarena. Navigating the city should not be an issue because Bogota has a large rapid bus transportation system as well as multiple taxi companies.
As the largest airport in Columbia, El Dorado International Airport (BOG) has two terminals and handles both international and domestic flights. There's ample transportation from the airport to anywhere in the city. Make sure to pack some warm clothes because the average temperature in Bogota ranges from 44 to 64 degrees.
