Second stay at this hotel - LOVE it!! Super quiet, easy check-in, has restaurants, a 24-hr conbini (that sells umbrellas), Terrace Restaurant across the street has excellent pizzas CHEAP. The only drawback is the elevators zooming past your floor to pick up people above or below you and then picking you up in your direction. 5 minute walk to Chuo Sobu train or the Odeo Line trains.

The rooms are small but I feel thats to be expected at Japanese hotels. The elevators had occasional issues but nothing awful. The convenience store in the hotel was a lifesaver at times and the restaurant was absolutely delicious. The deep bath was nice after a long day. Right nearby is a train station but it was never too loud and a bunch of restaurants.

The hotel staff is very polite and helpful. Room is clean but very small. My stay was awesome. The only complaint was the wait for elevator. There are six elevators, but they are always busy.

The hotel is located close to transportation, also short walk to lots of places to eat. Several convenience stores and small supermarket just around the corner. Very small but very cozy room, where the stuff for all your everyday needs is being provided: small kettle, clock, everything for morning tea or coffee; small fridge - we used it extensively as we did not have the breakfast program and we got everything from supermarket or 7-11 for the next morning breakfast. All bathroom supply that is listed in a hotel's room description was provided on everyday level. White clean fluffy towels are being changed everyday; even the days when they dont clean the room, the package with the towels, clean kimonos and bathroom/tea supply was being hanged on the special hooks on the door case. extremally clean bedding was changed every time they cleaned the room. very comfortable mattress and pillows. the only thing I did not like and that was the reason I set 4 stars for cleanliness: they dont dust. The dust was everywhere, even in the bathroom. I am a neat freak and that bothered me. Not a big deal - i wiped it my own with the wet chlorex wipes, but that is something they probably should pay attention to. We stayed there for 13 days and overall are happy.

I don’t want to hype it up too much and let the secret out of the bag but Ryōgoku is a great place to stay in Tokyo if you like things a little lore on the mellow side. Only a few stops from “the city” but the Sumida River is a great buffer from the hectic. I enjoyed several nice morning walks on the river walk and thru the nearby memorial park and private garden. Lots of great eating in the hotel restaurants and around the station. Easy access to JR Line and the Subway. Wanted Ueno but glad we got Ryōgoku!
