As a Gold Hotels.com member, i look forward to the occasional upgraded room when checking in. However i was told the hotel was full and there was no option to upgrade. However, when my friend checked in 2hrs later, they gave her an upgrade although she is not even a Gold member of hotels.com. My room was at the back, and i was woken at 7am by very loud bins banging from the dustin men. Not a good experience!

The person at the front desk allowed us to check in to our room around 10am, which was absolutely amazing. The hotel and room were clean and clearly cared for. The sheets and towels were showing their age (tears, small stains), and the king bed was two twin beds pushed together. The sound-proofing was decent and the location was great.

The staff that I encountered with are friendly and helpful. The location is perfect, walking distance to shops, restaurants, and pubs. The hotel is nice, however, we didn’t get housekeeping for the 3 nights we were there, and the bathroom is not as clean as one would expect. We slept there the first night, left to Cork for one night, and came back and no service was done to the room. The following day, we went out the whole day, and came back and still no service. Since that’s our last night, I didn’t bother saying anything as we needed to do our packing. Also, the nearest parking was expensive. The hotel covers a portion of it, and it’s still about 30-40 euros out of pocket, which could be how much the area charges.

When we landed late at night, we received a call stating that they didn't have a room for us, even after booking a room 5 months in advance. They put us in their sister hotel 10 minutes away and would have us come back to them the next day since the sister hotel only had a room for one night. This was supposed to be our last stop on our trip before heading back to the States on our 12-hour flight. It messed with all of our plans in trying to be in one place and not lugging our luggage everywhere. We didn't get to enjoy the sights as much. When we were having breakfast at the hotel they first tried to sit us at a dirty table with dishes from the previous guest. It took a while to get it clean. Other guests who arrived later were getting service but not us. I went to the hostess to ask how I could order if I would like something on the menu. She asked for my order it was like 40 minutes later and I still didn't get my omelet. I finally saw a waiter and told them I was still waiting. Apparently, she didn't let them know and finally got it 5 minutes later. Overall we felt more like a burden to the hotel than guests. The reason for the two stars is that they did pay for our taxi to get from one hotel to the next.

The front desk staff was friendly and very helpful. The young woman had our bags brought to our room after we dropped them off, checked in, and left to drop off our rental car—very thoughtful. The location was excellent—highly walkable to sites and food. Our Junior Suite had a great corner view. However, we couldn’t regulate the temp in the room and the curtains allowed a lot of street light into the room, keeping us from sleeping well. The bedding—a single duvet, no flat sheet—made sleeping either too hot (with it) or too cold (without it). Lastly, the shower tended to leak out the door; the towel warmer did not work; the towels were incredibly small, old, thin, and dingy, and the many buttons regulating the lights in the room were confusing.
