I guess you would describe this hotel as perhaps shabby chic but in a good way. Yes our room was a bit dated but everything worked perfectly well indeed. A room that you can open a window and heat that you can control yourself - oh joy! Bath/shower with great pressure. From the moment you walk in the door you are made to feel welcome and your comfort is of the upmost importance. We were there for the rugby game and it was fantastically located for Aviva stadium. A 20 min bracing walk into town the other direction if you don't want to wait for a bus. Great Wi-Fi in room and lounge. When you read about the free home made biscuits to help yourself to with tea/coffee you make yourself as often as you want, it's true. As was the magnificent complimentary chocolate cake and cheese and biscuits that greeted us on the first day which we had on the comfy sofas in the lounge which is like a very large cosy front room. We were out all day the second day so no idea what goodies were had on that day. The Euro 15 for breakfast is totally worth it although if you book the day before you get it for 10 and it is everything - fresh baked bread, scones, cakes, cereals, toast, porridge, full Irish, omelettes, smoked salmon are all on the menu and we had a lovely full Irish on the first morning. But the staff that really do make it. So friendly and helpful with maps, suggestions, directions, general chatting and welcome and knowledgeable about the area. I would recommend this hotel to anybody who is looking for all of the above. If you want an ultra modern setting, this is not for you. Not sure it's the type of place that large groups for hen/stag parties would choose and all the better for that, if you want peace and quiet. We will definitely be back. Loved it and was sad to leave!

3 night stay a Thursday to Sunday. Very pleasant stay, the staff couldn't have been any more friendly and helpful than they were. There are nice little touches all around the hotel that make you feel they really care about you enjoying your stay. Breakfast well worth it. The hotel is also in an excellent location, nice restaurants and bars in the surrounding location and only a 20-25min walk to the centre. Only complaint would be the mattress, far too hard for both me and my partner but it didn't ruin our stay. Would happily return to this hotel if we ever stayed in Dublin again.

We arrived quite late, but there is always someone at the reception. The check-in was easy und we got a lot of information for food and drinks and the tip to book breakfast in advance, since it is cheaper that way. The room is really nice and clean with heating that we could turn up and down as we wanted. We didn't even need an adapter, because the room has a charger with USB-Outlet. The bed was comfortable, but only had one duvet. We asked at the reception and when we came back later that night we already had a second one on the bed. Since we had heard that the breakfast ist amazing,we tried it and were not disappointed. Everything is fresh, there are homemade muffins, bread, cake etc. Far too much to even try everything. We had the Irish Breakfast which is highly recommendable (we didn't get hungry until late in the afternoon). The staff is really nice too, we sat down and with in minutes they took our order and made sure everything was fine. The staff at the reception is also really nice, they always asked if we need anything and always had time for a little chat. The hotel is in Ballsbridge, easy to reach by bus from the airport (about 30 minutes) and it is easy enough to walk into the city center from there. For an evening drink there are pubs and restaurants around, but not too close for it to be a noisy neighborhood. I can only recommend the place, everything was perfect. I've not felt so welcome in a hotel in a long time!

We (a couple living in France) stayed in Pembroke Townhouse hotel for four nights in late January 2018. The hotel is a large Georgian building in the embassy area of Dublin and most of the houses nearby are similar. Aviva stadium and the RDS showgrounds are close. The location is roughly mid-way between Ballsbridge shopping and restaurant area, and the Baggott Street Bridge shopping area, each about 7-8 minutes away. What impressed us the most about the hotel was the friendly staff. Smiling and helpful, one felt welcome from the beginning. The cooked breakfasts were a lovely start to the day and we didn't need lunch. Al the ingredients for a continental breakfast were available too. Mostly we ate in the evenings at Baggott St Bridge or once at Ballsbridge. The day we left we had to take the airport coach around 8:30 am at a stop about 7 minutes away and we got breakfast a bit earlier (it was a Sunday) without problems. We were accommodated on the sixth floor. There is an efficient and silent lift so the height was no problem. However, the room, which is comfortable if small, has a bathroom with antiquated plumbing. The shower had to stop for 30 seconds while a header tank filled up, then the water flowed again. The toilet needed up to four flushes to get rid of all that was in the bowl. The actual toilet was made by an English bathware manufacturer, now out of business (rightly!). It probably dates from the 1960s and it should be replaced. Four flushes wastes a good part of the day! The lasting memory will nevertheless be the friendly staff from all over Europe. -Paul

For my first trip to Europe in 2009, I reserved the Pembroke for my husband and I. We rented a car from the airport, and found the hotel pretty quickly. It took a little extra time to find the parking in back, which was not the hotel's fault. The rooms are a bit smaller than most I've stayed at, but have a very nice en suite. The lobby is well cared for. The staff is extremely kind and helpful. Great location. Only a short walk to shops, restaurants, parks, and sightseeing. Also, close to the RDS Arena. We had exceptional tickets to see the Eagles in concert there, and walked over to it. There appear to be numerous concerts there during the summer. I highly recommend you look to see who might be performing there. Our tickets were way cheaper than in the US, and very close. It's an outdoor arena. We met a lot of amazing people from all over Europe there, having a great time. I would definitely use this place again. FYI, don't rent a car until you decide to leave Dublin. I had heard that from Rick Steve's show, but didn't believe him. But he's right. Walking and public transportation are more than enough.

This was a really nice place to stay, however as a disabled person it wasn’t geared up for my needs, the room was small and the bathroom wasn’t disabled friendly. I can say the staff did try to accommodate my needs and for that I’m grateful, the downside of my stay was the lack of hot water in the room and the constant road traffic noice.

Stayed there with my wife for 2 nights, Friday and Saturday. Overall experience was very good. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Rooms were large and well kept. Nice touch is free cheeses and crackers at night.

This hotel is situated in a great location. Avoca stadium is nearby. There are plenty of pubs within walking distance. The staff was very kind and helpful. Breakfast was good. I would recommend the French toast. The beds are due for an upgrade though.

Simple, clean and comfortable rooms. Staff go out of their way to be helpful without being intrusive. Freshly cooked and served breakfast. Convenient location. Mattress a little thin and perhaps could be replaced. Would stay here again.

A small hotel on the south side close to Aviva Stadium (Lansdowne Rd) and the Royal Dublin Society and very walkable to the city centre. Cooked or continental breakfast is very nice and staff go out of their way to be helpful. The rooms are warm and simple and clean. The bed and pillows were not as good as hoped for after a long flight. I would come back again.
