Classic hotel great service center of town loved it

We've stayed here dozens on times but this was definitely our last. The hotel is undergoing construction. We had to walk through the construction to get to our room. The room was newly done, the door was hung incorrectly and didn't open all the way. We were on floor C, every delivery truck pulled up outside our room starting at 4 am, when we alerted staff about the noise, there was no apology and staff acted surprised. The area has gotten very unsafe. Security is lax, in fact while we were eating lunch in the hotel restaurant the server yelled 'mind your bags' as a man was walking through trying to steal from patrons and no security to be found.

Staff was excellent and the hotel was extremely comfortable.

THE GOOD: location, most of the staff (with a couple of exceptions), continental breakfast. THE BAD: A significant portion of the building is under construction. Initially we were placed in a room in the lower level that required us to walk through areas where construction was ongoing and we had to cover our mouths and noses to avoid inhaling dust from the construction. We also had to take two elevators in different parts of the hotel to get to the room. This was not explained to us by the staff when we checked in and the room was confusing to find and took a long time to get to each time thereafter. I gave the staff an "OK" rating because there were very some very sweet and accommodating people at the door, reception and at breakfast but you had to call more than once if you needed help with something in the room (in our case the A/C) and there were a couple of unhelpful and even confused people at the front desk. THE UGLY: The renovations! This is really a shame because the rooms in the older part of the building were lovely, and the A/C worked better in these rooms than in the newly renovated rooms. The style of the newly renovated rooms lacked charm and looked cheap. The new bathrooms had a nice shower but the fittings and a couple of the items secured to the wall (tissue box, soap dispenser) fell off the wall when we used them. I expected more of Orbitz. You shouldn't send customers to properties that are under construction and unsafe to walk through.

This is the perfect location to stay in Dublin. Close to many attractions and extremely walkable.

The hotel was fine but they really should work on their check in process. A lot of the other travelers were in the same position as us, in that our flights got us there super early in the morning. We arrived at the hotel about 7:30am and were the first travelers to arrive that morning. With no room available, we decided to explore the city with the express understanding that they would call us when our rooms were available. At no time did the hotel call us. At around 11:30am we stopped by the hotel to get additional information about the area and noticed several other travelers waiting in the lobby for their rooms like us, but again they said no rooms were available and they would call us. By 2:00pm, we made our way back to the hotel and decided to stay there until our rooms were available. At first they said no rooms were available, so we waited. As we waited, we saw other travelers who came after us get their rooms. At 3:00pm, we finally had it and went back to the front desk, where they asked us didn’t they (the hotel) called us. We showed them our phones to show they never called and no one told us any rooms were available when we stopped at the hotel at 11:30am or again at 2:00pm. Very frustrating when you’re jet lagged.

What an amazing Suite! It was as incredible!!

Very good hotel in the city center close to many attractions within a walking distance. Airport coach buses stop in front of the hotel which is convenient. We were early checkin which was really nice. The breakfast is very good.
